1 N ow gather thyself together, O daughter of troops, A siege he hath laid against us, With a rod they smite on the cheek the judge of Israel.

Acum însă strânge-ţi oştirea, fiică înconjurată de războinici, căci suntem sub asediu! Ei îl vor lovi cu toiagul peste obraz pe judecătorul lui Israel!

2 A nd thou, Beth-Lehem Ephratah, Little to be among the chiefs of Judah! From thee to Me he cometh forth -- to be ruler in Israel, And his comings forth of old, From the days of antiquity.

„Dar tu, Betleeme Efrata, deşi eşti neînsemnat printre miile lui Iuda, totuşi din tine Îmi va ieşi Cel Ce va fi Conducător în Israel, Cel a Cărui origine este din vechime, chiar din zilele veşniciei.

3 T herefore he doth give them out till the time She who bringeth forth hath brought forth, And the remnant of his brethren return to the sons of Israel.

De aceea El îi va abandona până la vremea când cea care trebuie să nască va naşte. Apoi, rămăşiţa fraţilor Săi se va întoarce la israeliţi.

4 A nd he hath stood and delighted in the strength of Jehovah, In the excellency of the name of Jehovah his God, And they have remained, For now he is great unto the ends of earth.

El se va înfăţişa şi va păstori poporul în puterea Domnului, în toată maiestatea Numelui Domnului, Dumnezeul Său. Şi ei vor locui liniştiţi, căci atunci El va fi măreţ până la marginile pământului!

5 A nd this hath been peace, Asshur! when he doth come into our land, And when he doth tread in our palaces, We have raised against him seven shepherds, And eight anointed of man.

El va fi pacea lor! Când asirianul va invada ţara noastră şi va pătrunde în citadelele noastre, vom ridica împotriva lui şapte păstori, chiar opt conducători.

6 A nd they have afflicted the land of Asshur with the sword, And the land of Nimrod at its openings, And he hath delivered from Asshur when he doth come into our land, And when he treadeth in our borders.

Ei vor păstori ţara Asiriei cu sabia, iar ţara lui Nimrod – cu sabia scoasă din teacă. El ne va izbăvi de asirian când acesta va invada ţara noastră şi va pătrunde în hotarul nostru. Rămăşiţa lui Iacov, restaurată şi purificată

7 A nd the remnant of Jacob hath been in the midst of many peoples, As dew from Jehovah -- as showers on the herb, That waiteth not for man, nor stayeth for the sons of men.

Atunci rămăşiţa lui Iacov va fi, în mijlocul multor popoare, ca roua de la Domnul, ca ploaia măruntă de pe iarbă, care nu aşteaptă pe nimeni şi care nu stă după fiii oamenilor.

8 Y ea, the remnant of Jacob hath been among nations, In the midst of many peoples, As a lion among beasts of a forest, As a young lion among ranks of a flock, Which if it hath passed through, Hath both trodden down and hath torn, And there is no deliverer.

Atunci rămăşiţa lui Iacov va fi printre neamuri, în mijlocul multor popoare, ca leul între fiarele pădurii, ca un leu tânăr în turmele de oi, care trece şi calcă în picioare, care sfâşie, fără ca cineva să poată izbăvi.

9 H igh is thy hand above thine adversaries, And all thine enemies are cut off.

Mâna îţi va fi ridicată peste duşmanii tăi şi toţi vrăjmaşii tăi vor fi nimiciţi!

10 A nd it hath come to pass in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah, I have cut off thy horses from thy midst, And I have destroyed thy chariots,

În ziua aceea, zice Domnul, îţi voi nimici caii din mijlocul tău şi-ţi voi distruge carele,

11 A nd I have cut off the cities of thy land, And I have thrown down all thy fortresses,

îţi voi nimici cetăţile din ţară şi-ţi voi dărâma toate fortificaţiile,

12 A nd have cut off sorcerers out of thy hand, And observers of clouds thou hast none.

îţi voi nimici vrăjitoriile din mână şi nu se vor mai găsi la tine oameni care ghicesc,

13 A nd I have cut off thy graven images, And thy standing-pillars out of thy midst, And thou dost not bow thyself any more To the work of thy hands.

îţi voi nimici idolii şi stâlpii sacri din mijlocul tău şi nu te vei mai închina la lucrarea mâinilor tale,

14 A nd I have plucked up thy shrines out of thy midst, And I have destroyed thine enemies.

îţi voi dezrădăcina aşerele din mijlocul tău şi-ţi voi nimici cetăţile.

15 A nd I have done vengeance in anger and in fury, With the nations who have not hearkened!

Apoi, mă voi răzbuna cu mânie şi furie pe neamurile care nu M -au ascultat.“
