1 N ow gather thyself together, O daughter of troops, A siege he hath laid against us, With a rod they smite on the cheek the judge of Israel.

Agora, ajunta-te em tropas, ó filha de tropas; pôr-se-á cerco contra nós; ferirão com a vara no queixo ao juiz de Israel.

2 A nd thou, Beth-Lehem Ephratah, Little to be among the chiefs of Judah! From thee to Me he cometh forth -- to be ruler in Israel, And his comings forth of old, From the days of antiquity.

Mas tu, Belém Efrata, posto que pequena para estar entre os milhares de Judá, de ti é que me sairá aquele que há de reinar em Israel, e cujas saídas são desde os tempos antigos, desde os dias da eternidade.

3 T herefore he doth give them out till the time She who bringeth forth hath brought forth, And the remnant of his brethren return to the sons of Israel.

Portanto os entregará até o tempo em que a que está de parto tiver dado ã luz; então o resto de seus irmãos voltará aos filhos de Israel.

4 A nd he hath stood and delighted in the strength of Jehovah, In the excellency of the name of Jehovah his God, And they have remained, For now he is great unto the ends of earth.

E ele permanecerá, e apascentará o povo na força do Senhor, na excelência do nome do Senhor seu Deus; e eles permanecerão, porque agora ele será grande até os fins da terra.

5 A nd this hath been peace, Asshur! when he doth come into our land, And when he doth tread in our palaces, We have raised against him seven shepherds, And eight anointed of man.

E este será a nossa paz. Quando a Assíria entrar em nossa terra, e quando pisar em nossos palácios, então suscitaremos contra ela sete pastores e oito príncipes dentre os homems.

6 A nd they have afflicted the land of Asshur with the sword, And the land of Nimrod at its openings, And he hath delivered from Asshur when he doth come into our land, And when he treadeth in our borders.

Esses consumirão a terra da Assíria ã espada, e a terra de Ninrode nas suas entradas. Assim ele nos livrará da Assíria, quando entrar em nossa terra, e quando calcar os nossos termos.

7 A nd the remnant of Jacob hath been in the midst of many peoples, As dew from Jehovah -- as showers on the herb, That waiteth not for man, nor stayeth for the sons of men.

E o resto de Jacó estará no meio de muitos povos, como orvalho da parte do Senhor, como chuvisco sobre a erva, que não espera pelo homem, nem aguarda filpios de homens.

8 Y ea, the remnant of Jacob hath been among nations, In the midst of many peoples, As a lion among beasts of a forest, As a young lion among ranks of a flock, Which if it hath passed through, Hath both trodden down and hath torn, And there is no deliverer.

Tambem o resto de Jacó estará entre as nações, no meio de muitos povos, como um leão entre os animais do bosque, como um leão novo entre os rebanhos de ovelhas, o qual, quando passar, as pisará e despedaçará, sem que haja quem as livre.

9 H igh is thy hand above thine adversaries, And all thine enemies are cut off.

A tua mão será exaltada sobre os teus adversários e serão exterminados todos os seus inimigos.

10 A nd it hath come to pass in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah, I have cut off thy horses from thy midst, And I have destroyed thy chariots,

Naquele dia, diz o Senhor, exterminarei do meio de ti os teus cavalos, e destrurei os teus carros;

11 A nd I have cut off the cities of thy land, And I have thrown down all thy fortresses,

destruirei as cidade da tua terra, e derribarei todas as tuas fortalezas.

12 A nd have cut off sorcerers out of thy hand, And observers of clouds thou hast none.

Tirarei as feitiçarias da tua mão, e não terás adivinhadores;

13 A nd I have cut off thy graven images, And thy standing-pillars out of thy midst, And thou dost not bow thyself any more To the work of thy hands.

arrancarei do meio de ti as tuas imagens esculpidas e as tuas colunas; e nao adorarás mais a obra das tuas mãos.

14 A nd I have plucked up thy shrines out of thy midst, And I have destroyed thine enemies.

Do meio de ti arrancarei os teus aserins, e destruirei as tuas cidades.

15 A nd I have done vengeance in anger and in fury, With the nations who have not hearkened!

E com ira e com furor exercerei vingança sobre as nações que não obedeceram.
