1 A nd it cometh to pass, at the establishing of the kingdom of Rehoboam, and at his strengthening himself, he hath forsaken the law of Jehovah, and all Israel with him.

E sucedeu que, quando ficou estabelecido o reino de Roboão, e havendo o rei se tornado forte, ele deixou a lei do Senhor, e com ele todo o Israel.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, come up hath Shishak king of Egypt against Jerusalem -- because they trespassed against Jehovah --

Pelo que, no quinto ano da rei Roboão, Sisaque, rei do Egito, subiu contra Jerusalém (porque eles tinham transgredido contra o Senhor)

3 w ith a thousand and two hundred chariots, and with sixty thousand horsemen, and there is no number to the people who have come with him out of Egypt -- Lubim, Sukkiim, and Cushim --

com mil e duzentes carros e sessenta mil cavaleiros; era inumerável a gente que vinha com ele do Egito: líbios, suquitas e etíopes;

4 a nd he captureth the cities of the bulwarks that to Judah, and cometh in unto Jerusalem.

E tomou as cidades fortificadas de Judá, e chegou até Jerusalém.

5 A nd Shemaiah the prophet hath come in unto Rehoboam and the heads of Judah who have been gathered unto Jerusalem from the presence of Shishak, and saith to them, `Thus said Jehovah, Ye have forsaken Me, and also, I have left you in the hand of Shishak;'

Então Semaías, o profeta, fei ter com Roboão e com os príncipes de Judá que se tinham ajuntado em Jerusalém por causa de Sisaque, e disse-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor: Vós me deixastes a mim, pelo que eu também vos deixei na mão de Sisaque.

6 a nd the heads of Israel are humbled, and the king, and they say, `Righteous Jehovah.'

Então se humilharam os príncipes de Israel e o rei, e disseram: O Senhor é justo.

7 A nd when Jehovah seeth that they have been humbled, a word of Jehovah hath been unto Shemaiah, saying, `They have been humbled; I do not destroy them, and I have given to them as a little thing for an escape, and I pour not out My fury in Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak;

Quando, pois, o Senhor viu que se humilhavam, veio a palavra do Senhor a Semaías, dizendo: Humilharam-se, não os destruirei; mas dar-lhes-ei algum socorro, e o meu furor não será derramado sobre Jerusalém por mão de Sisaque.

8 b ut they become servants to him, and they know My service, and the service of the kingdoms of the lands.'

Todavia eles lhe serão servos, para que conheçam a diferença entre a minha servidão e a servidão dos reinos da terra.

9 A nd Shishak king of Egypt cometh up against Jerusalem, and taketh the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the house of the king -- the whole he hath taken -- and he taketh the shields of gold that Solomon had made;

Subiu, pois, Sisaque, rei do Egito, contra Jerusalém, e levou os tesouros da casa do Senhor, e os tesouros da casa do rei; levou tudo. Levou até os escudos de ouro que Salomão fizera.

10 a nd king Rehoboam maketh in their stead shields of brass, and hath given a charge on the hand of the heads of the runners who are keeping the opening of the house of the king;

E o rei Roboão fez em lugar deles escudos de bronze, e os entregou na mão dos capitães da guarda, que guardavam a porta da casa do rei.

11 a nd it cometh to pass, from the time of the going in of the king to the house of Jehovah, the runners have come in and lifted them up, and brought them back unto the chamber of the runners.

E todas as vezes que o rei entrava na casa do Senhor, vinham os da guarda e os levavam; depois tornavam a pô-los na câmara da guarda.

12 A nd in his being humbled, turned back from him hath the wrath of Jehovah, so as not to destroy to completion; and also, in Judah there have been good things.

E humilhando-se ele, a ira do Senhor se desviou dele, de modo que não o destruiu de todo; porque ainda havia coisas boas em Judá.

13 A nd king Rehoboam strengtheneth himself in Jerusalem, and reigneth; for a son of forty and two years Rehoboam in his reigning, and seventeen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, the city that Jehovah hath chosen to put His name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and the name of his mother Naamah the Ammonitess,

Fortaleceu-se, pois, o rei Roboão em Jerusalém, e reinou. Roboão tinha quarenta e um anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, a cidade que o Senhor escolhera dentre todas as tribos de Israel, para pôr ali o seu nome. E era o nome de sua mãe Naama, a amonita.

14 a nd he doth the evil thing, for he hath not prepared his heart to seek Jehovah.

Ele fez o que era mau, porquanto não dispôs o seu coração para buscar ao Senhor.

15 A nd the matters of Rehoboam, the first and the last, are they not written among the matters of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer, concerning genealogy? And the wars of Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days;

Ora, os atos de Roboão, desde os primeiros até os últimos, porventura não estão escritos nas histórias de Semaías, o profeta, e de Ido, o vidente, na relação das genealogias? Houve guerra entre Roboão e Jeroboão por todos os seus dias.

16 a nd Rehoboam lieth with his fathers, and is buried in the city of David, and reign doth Abijah his son in his stead.

E Roboão dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi. E Abias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
