1 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, `Go, ascend from this, thou and the people, whom thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I have sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, To thy seed I give it,'

Disse mais o Senhor a Moisés: Vai, sobe daqui, tu e o povo que fizeste subir da terra do Egito, para a terra a respeito da qual jurei a Abraão, a Isaque, e a Jacó, dizendo: ë tua descendência a darei.

2 ( and I have sent before thee a messenger, and have cast out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite,)

E enviarei um anjo adiante de ti (e lançarei fora os cananeus, e os amorreus, e os heteus, e os perizeus, e os heveus, e os jebuseus),

3 u nto a land flowing with milk and honey, for I do not go up in thy midst, for thou a stiff-necked people -- lest I consume thee in the way.'

para uma terra que mana leite e mel; porque eu não subirei no meio de ti, porquanto és povo de cerviz dura; para que não te consuma eu no caminho.

4 A nd the people hear this sad thing, and mourn; and none put his ornaments on him.

E quando o povo ouviu esta má notícia, pôs-se a prantear, e nenhum deles vestiu os seus atavios.

5 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Say unto the sons of Israel, Ye a stiff-necked people; one moment -- I come up into thy midst, and have consumed thee; and now, put down thine ornaments from off thee, and I know what I do to thee;'

Pois o Senhor tinha dito a Moisés: Dize aos filhos de Israel: És um povo de dura cerviz; se por um só momento eu subir no meio de ti, te consumirei; portanto agora despe os teus atavios, para que eu saiba o que te hei de fazer.

6 a nd the sons of Israel take off their ornaments at mount Horeb.

Então os filhos de Israel se despojaram dos seus atavios, desde o monte Horebe em diante.

7 A nd Moses taketh the tent, and hath stretched it out at the outside of the camp, afar off from the camp, and hath called it, `Tent of Meeting;' and it hath come to pass, every one seeking Jehovah goeth out unto the tent of meeting, which at the outside of the camp.

Ora, Moisés costumava tomar a tenda e armá-la fora do arraial, bem longe do arraial; e chamou-lhe a tenda da revelação. E todo aquele que buscava ao Senhor saía ã tenda da revelação, que estava fora do arraial.

8 A nd it hath come to pass, at the going out of Moses unto the tent, all the people rise, and have stood, each at the opening of his tent, and have looked expectingly after Moses, until his going into the tent.

Quando Moisés saía ã tenda, levantava-se todo o povo e ficava em pé cada um ã porta da sua tenda, e olhava a Moisés pelas costas, até entrar ele na tenda.

9 A nd it hath come to pass, at the going in of Moses to the tent, the pillar of the cloud cometh down, and hath stood at the opening of the tent, and He hath spoken with Moses;

E quando Moisés entrava na tenda, a coluna de nuvem descia e ficava ã porta da tenda; e o Senhor falava com Moisés.

10 a nd all the people have seen the pillar of the cloud standing at the opening of the tent, and all the people have risen and bowed themselves, each at the opening of his tent.

Assim via todo o povo a coluna de nuvem que estava ã porta da tenda, e todo o povo, levantando-se, adorava, cada um ã porta da sua tenda.

11 A nd Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses face unto face, as a man speaketh unto his friend; and he hath turned back unto the camp, and his minister Joshua, son of Nun, a youth, departeth not out of the tent.

E falava o Senhor a Moisés face a face, como qualquer fala com o seu amigo. Depois tornava Moisés ao arraial; mas o seu servidor, o mancebo Josué, filho de Num, não se apartava da tenda.

12 A nd Moses saith unto Jehovah, `See, Thou art saying unto me, Bring up this people, and Thou hast not caused me to know whom Thou dost send with me; and Thou hast said, I have known thee by name, and also thou hast found grace in Mine eyes.

E Moisés disse ao Senhor: Eis que tu me dizes: Faze subir a este povo; porém não me fazes saber a quem hás de enviar comigo. Disseste também: Conheço-te por teu nome, e achaste graça aos meus olhos.

13 ` And now, if, I pray Thee, I have found grace in Thine eyes, cause me to know, I pray Thee, Thy way, and I know Thee, so that I find grace in Thine eyes, and consider that this nation Thy people;'

Se eu, pois, tenho achado graça aos teus olhos, rogo-te que agora me mostres os teus caminhos, para que eu te conheça, a fim de que ache graça aos teus olhos; e considera que esta nação é teu povo.

14 a nd He saith, `My presence doth go, and I have given rest to thee.'

Respondeu-lhe o Senhor: Eu mesmo irei contigo, e eu te darei descanso.

15 A nd he saith unto Him, `If Thy presence is not going -- take us not up from this;

Então Moisés lhe disse: Se tu mesmo não fores conosco, não nos faças subir daqui.

16 a nd in what is it known now, that I have found grace in Thine eyes -- I and Thy people -- is it not in Thy going with us? and we have been distinguished -- I and Thy people -- from all the people who on the face of the ground.'

Como, pois, se saberá agora que tenho achado graça aos teus olhos, eu e o teu povo? acaso não é por andares tu conosco, de modo a sermos separados, eu e o teu povo, de todos os povos que há sobre a face da terra;

17 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Even this thing which thou hast spoken I do; for thou hast found grace in Mine eyes, and I know thee by name.'

Ao que disse o Senhor a Moisés: Farei também isto que tens dito; porquanto achaste graça aos meus olhos, e te conheço pelo teu nome.

18 A nd he saith, `Shew me, I pray Thee, Thine honour;'

Moisés disse ainda: Rogo-te que me mostres a tua glória.

19 a nd He saith, `I cause all My goodness to pass before thy face, and have called concerning the Name of Jehovah before thee, and favoured him whom I favour, and loved him whom I love.'

Respondeu-lhe o Senhor: Eu farei passar toda a minha bondade diante de ti, e te proclamarei o meu nome Jeová; e terei misericórdia de quem eu tiver misericórdia, e me compadecerei de quem me compadecer.

20 H e saith also, `Thou art unable to see My face, for man doth not see Me, and live;'

E disse mais: Não poderás ver a minha face, porquanto homem nenhum pode ver a minha face e viver.

21 J ehovah also saith, `Lo, a place by Me, and thou hast stood on the rock,

Disse mais o Senhor: Eis aqui um lugar junto a mim; aqui, sobre a penha, te poras.

22 a nd it hath come to pass, in the passing by of Mine honour, that I have set thee in a cleft of the rock, and spread out My hands over thee, until My passing by,

E quando a minha glória passar, eu te porei numa fenda da penha, e te cobrirei com a minha mão, até que eu haja passado.

23 a nd I have turned aside My hands, and thou hast seen My back parts, and My face is not seen.'

Depois, quando eu tirar a mão, me verás pelas costas; porém a minha face não se verá.
