1 A nd Huram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-wood, and artificers of walls, and artificers of wood, to build to him a house.

Hirão, rei de Tiro, mandou mensageiros a Davi, e madeira de cedro, pedreiros e carpinteiros para lhe edificarem uma casa.

2 A nd David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, because of the lifting up on high of his kingdom, for the sake of His people Israel.

Então percebeu Davi que o Senhor o tinha confirmado rei sobre Israel; porque o seu reino tinha sido muito exaltado por amor do seu povo Israel.

3 A nd David taketh again wives in Jerusalem, and David begetteth again sons and daughters;

Davi tomou em Jerusalém ainda outras mulheres, e teve ainda filhos e filhas.

4 a nd these the names of the children whom he hath in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

Estes, pois, são os nomes dos filhos que lhe nasceram em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão,

5 a nd Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

Ibar, Elisua, Elpelete,

6 a nd Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

Nogá, Nefegue, Jafia,

7 a nd Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

Elisama, Beeliada e Elifelete.

8 A nd the Philistines hear that David hath been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines go up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth out before them.

Quando os filisteus ouviram que Davi havia sido ungido rei sobre todo o Israel, subiram todos em busca dele; o que ouvindo Davi, logo saiu contra eles.

9 A nd the Philistines have come, and rush into the valley of Rephaim,

Ora, os filisteus tinham vindo e feito uma arremetida pelo vale de Refaim.

10 a nd David asketh of God, saying, `Do I go up against the Philistines -- and hast Thou given them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith to him, `Go up, and I have given them into thy hand.'

Então Davi consultou a Deus, dizendo: Subirei contra os filisteus, e nas minhas mãos os entregarás?: E o Senhor lhe disse: Sobe, porque os entregarei nas tuas mãos.

11 A nd they go up into Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and David saith, `God hath broken up mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking up of waters;' therefore they have called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

E subiram os filisteus a Baal-Perazim, onde Davi os derrotou; e disse Davi: por minha mão Deus fez uma brecha nos meus inimigos, como uma brecha feita pelas águas. Pelo que chamaram aquele lugar Baal-Perazim:

12 A nd they leave there their gods, and David speaketh, and they are burnt with fire.

E deixaram ali os seus deuses, que, por ordem de Davi, foram queimados a fogo.

13 A nd the Philistines add again, and rush into the valley,

Mas os filisteus tornaram a fazer uma arremetida pelo vale.

14 a nd David asketh again of God, and God saith to him, `Do not go up after them, turn round from them, and thou hast come to them from over-against the mulberries;

Tornou Davi a consultar a Deus, que lhe respondeu: Não subirás atrás deles; mas rodeia-os por detrás e vem sobre eles por defronte dos balsameiros;

15 a nd it cometh to pass, when thou hearest the sound of the stepping at the heads of the mulberries, then thou goest out into battle, for God hath gone out before thee to smite the camp of the Philistines.'

e será que, ouvindo tu um ruído de marcha pelas copas dos balsameiros, sairás ã peleja; porque Deus terá saído diante de ti para ferir o exército dos filisteus.

16 A nd David doth as God commanded him, and they smite the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon even unto Gazer;

E fez Davi como Deus lhe ordenara; e desbarataram o exército dos filisteus desde Gibeão até Gezer:

17 a nd the name of David goeth out into all the lands, and Jehovah hath put his fear on all the nations.

Assim a fama de Davi se espalhou por todas aquelas terras, e o Senhor pôs o temor dele sobre todas aquelas gentes.
