1 C hrist, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, ye also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh hath done with sin,

Ora pois, já que Cristo padeceu na carne, armai-vos também vós deste mesmo pensamento; porque aquele que padeceu na carne já cessou do pecado;

2 n o more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;

para que, no tempo que ainda vos resta na carne não continueis a viver para as concupiscências dos homens, mas para a vontade de Deus.

3 f or sufficient to us the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revelings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,

Porque é bastante que no tempo passado tenhais cumprido a vontade dos gentios, andando em dissoluções, concupiscências, borrachices, glutonarias, bebedices e abomináveis idolatrias.

4 i n which they think it strange -- your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,

E acham estranho não correrdes com eles no mesmo desenfreamento de dissolução, blasfemando de vós;

5 w ho shall give an account to Him who is ready to judge living and dead,

os quais hão de dar conta ao que está preparado para julgar os vivos e os mortos.

6 f or for this also to dead men was good news proclaimed, that they may be judged, indeed, according to men in the flesh, and may live according to God in the spirit.

Pois é por isto que foi pregado o evangelho até aos mortos, para que, na verdade, fossem julgados segundo os homens na carne, mas vivessem segundo Deus em espírito.

7 A nd of all things the end hath come nigh; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,

Mas já está próximo o fim de todas as coisas; portanto sede sóbrios e vigiai em oração;

8 a nd, before all things, to one another having the earnest love, because the love shall cover a multitude of sins;

tendo antes de tudo ardente amor uns para com os outros, porque o amor cobre uma multidão de pecados;

9 h ospitable to one another, without murmuring;

sendo hospitaleiros uns para com os outros, sem murmuração;

10 e ach, according as he received a gift, to one another ministering it, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;

servindo uns aos outros conforme o dom que cada um recebeu, como bons despenseiros da multiforme graça de Deus.

11 i f any one doth speak -- `as oracles of God;' if any one doth minister -- `as of the ability which God doth supply;' that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the power -- to the ages of the ages. Amen.

Se alguém fala, fale como entregando oráculos de Deus; se alguém ministra, ministre segundo a força que Deus concede; para que em tudo Deus seja glorificado por meio de Jesus Cristo, ma quem pertencem a glória e o domínio para todo o sempre. Amém.

12 B eloved, think it not strange at the fiery suffering among you that is coming to try you, as if a strange thing were happening to you,

Amados, não estranheis a ardente provação que vem sobre vós para vos experimentar, como se coisa estranha vos acontecesse;

13 b ut, according as ye have fellowship with the sufferings of the Christ, rejoice ye, that also in the revelation of his glory ye may rejoice -- exulting;

mas regozijai-vos por serdes participantes das aflições de Cristo; para que também na revelação da sua glória vos regozijeis e exulteis.

14 i f ye be reproached in the name of Christ -- happy, because the Spirit of glory and of God upon you doth rest; in regard, indeed, to them, he is evil-spoken of, and in regard to you, he is glorified;

Se pelo nome de Cristo sois vituperados, bem-aventurados sois, porque sobre vós repousa o Espírito da glória, o Espírito de Deus.

15 f or let none of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evil-doer, or as an inspector into other men's matters;

Que nenhum de vós, entretanto, padeça como homicida, ou ladrão, ou malfeitor, ou como quem se entremete em negócios alheios;

16 a nd if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; and let him glorify God in this respect;

mas, se padece como cristão, não se envergonhe, antes glorifique a Deus neste nome.

17 b ecause it is the time of the beginning of the judgment from the house of God, and if first from us, what the end of those disobedient to the good news of God?

Porque já é tempo que comece o julgamento pela casa de Deus; e se começa por nós, qual será o fim daqueles que desobedecem ao evangelho de Deus?

18 A nd if the righteous man is scarcely saved, the ungodly and sinner -- where shall he appear?

E se o justo dificilmente se salva, onde comparecerá o ímpio pecador?

19 s o that also those suffering according to the will of god, as to a stedfast Creator, let them commit their own souls in good doing.

Portanto os que sofrem segundo a vontade de Deus confiem as suas almas ao fiel Criador, praticando o bem.
