1 A nd it cometh to pass after the death of Moses, servant of Jehovah, that Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua son of Nun, minister of Moses, saying,

Depois da morte de Moisés, servo do Senhor, falou o Senhor a Josué, filho de Num, servidor de Moisés, dizendo:

2 ` Moses my servant is dead, and now, rise, pass over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.

Moisés, meu servo, é morto; levanta-te pois agora, passa este Jordão, tu e todo este povo, para a terra que eu dou aos filhos de Israel.

3 ` Every place on which the sole of your foot treadeth, to you I have given it, as I have spoken unto Moses.

Todo lugar que pisar a planta do vosso pé, vo-lo dei, como eu disse a Moisés.

4 F rom this wilderness and Lebanon, and unto the great river, the river Phrath, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great Sea -- the going in of the sun -- is your border.

Desde o deserto e este Líbano, até o grande rio, o rio Eufrates, toda a terra dos heteus, e até o grande mar para o poente do sol, será o vosso termo.

5 ` No man doth station himself before thee all days of thy life; as I have been with Moses, I am with thee, I do not fail thee, nor forsake thee;

Ninguém te poderá resistir todos os dias da tua vida. Como fui com Moisés, assim serei contigo; não te deixarei, nem te desampararei.

6 b e strong and courageous, for thou -- thou dost cause this people to inherit the land which I have sworn to their fathers to give to them.

Esforça-te, e tem bom ânimo, porque tu farás a este povo herdar a terra que jurei a seus pais lhes daria.

7 ` Only, be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded thee; thou dost not turn aside from it right or left, so that thou dost act wisely in every whither thou goest;

Tão-somente esforça-te e tem mui bom ânimo, cuidando de fazer conforme toda a lei que meu servo Moisés te ordenou; não te desvies dela, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda, a fim de que sejas bem sucedido por onde quer que andares.

8 t he book of this law doth not depart out of thy mouth, and thou hast meditated in it by day and by night, so that thou dost observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then thou dost cause thy way to prosper, and then thou dost act wisely.

Não se aparte da tua boca o livro desta lei, antes medita nele dia e noite, para que tenhas cuidado de fazer conforme tudo quanto nele está escrito; porque então farás prosperar o teu caminho, e serás bem sucedido.

9 ` Have not I commanded thee? be strong and courageous; be not terrified nor affrighted, for with thee Jehovah thy God in every whither thou goest.'

Não to mandei eu? Esforça-te, e tem bom ânimo; não te atemorizes, nem te espantes; porque o Senhor teu Deus está contigo, por onde quer que andares.

10 A nd Joshua commandeth the authorities of the people, saying,

Então Josué deu esta ordem aos oficiais do povo:

11 ` Pass over into the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare for yourselves provision, for within three days ye are passing over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God is giving to you to possess it.'

Passai pelo meio do arraial, e ordenai ao povo, dizendo: Provede-vos de mantimentos, porque dentro de três dias haveis de atravessar este Jordão, a fim de que entreis para tomar posse da terra que o Senhor vosso Deus vos dá para a possuirdes.

12 A nd to the Reubenite, and to the Gadite, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh, hath Joshua spoken, saying,

E disse Josué aos rubenitas, aos gaditas, e ã meia tribo de Manassés:

13 ` Remember the word which Moses, servant of Jehovah, commanded you, saying, Jehovah your God is giving rest to you, and He hath given to you this land;

Lembrai-vos da palavra que vos mandou Moisés, servo do Senhor, dizendo: O Senhor vosso Deus vos dá descanso, e vos dá esta terra.

14 y our wives, your infants, and your substance, abide in the land which Moses hath given to you beyond the Jordan, and ye -- ye pass over by fifties, before your brethren, all the mighty ones of valour, and have helped them,

Vossas mulheres, vossos pequeninos e vosso gado fiquem na terra que Moisés vos deu desta banda do Jordão; porém vós, todos os homens valorosos, passareis armados adiante de vossos irmãos e os ajudareis;

15 t ill that Jehovah giveth rest to your brethren as to yourselves, and they have possessed, even they, the land which Jehovah your God is giving to them; then ye have turned back to the land of your possession, and have possessed it, which Moses, servant of Jehovah, hath given to you beyond the Jordan, the sun-rising.'

até que o Senhor tenha dado descanso: a vossos irmãos, assim como vo-lo deu a vós, e eles também tenham possuído a terra que o Senhor vosso Deus lhes dá; então tornareis para a terra da vossa herança, e a possuireis, terra que Moisés, servo do Senhor, vos deu além do Jordão, para o nascente do sol.

16 A nd they answer Joshua, saying, `All that thou hast commanded us we do; and unto every whither thou dost send us, we go;

Então responderam a Josué, dizendo: Tudo quanto nos ordenaste faremos, e aonde quer que nos enviares iremos.

17 a ccording to all that we hearkened unto Moses, so we hearken unto thee; surely Jehovah thy God is with thee as He hath been with Moses.

Como em tudo ouvimos a Moisés, assim te ouviremos a ti; tão-somente seja o Senhor teu Deus contigo, como foi com Moisés.

18 A ny man who doth provoke thy mouth, and doth not hear thy words, in all that thou dost command him, is put to death; only, be strong and courageous.'

Quem quer que se rebelar contra as tuas ordens, e não ouvir as tuas palavras em tudo quanto lhe mandares, será morto. Tão-somente esforça-te, e tem bom ânimo.
