1 A nd two of the messengers come towards Sodom at even, and Lot is sitting at the gate of Sodom, and Lot seeth, and riseth to meet them, and boweth himself -- face to the earth,

 tarde chegaram os dois anjos a Sodoma. Ló estava sentado ã porta de Sodoma e, vendo-os, levantou-se para os receber; prostrou-se com o rosto em terra,

2 a nd he saith, `Lo, I pray you, my lords, turn aside, I pray you, unto the house of your servant, and lodge, and wash your feet -- then ye have risen early and gone on your way;' and they say, `Nay, but in the broad place we do lodge.'

e disse: Eis agora, meus senhores, entrai, peço-vos em casa de vosso servo, e passai nela a noite, e lavai os pés; de madrugada vos levantareis e ireis vosso caminho. Responderam eles: Não; antes na praça passaremos a noite.

3 A nd he presseth on them greatly, and they turn aside unto him, and come in unto his house; and he maketh for them a banquet, and hath baked unleavened things; and they do eat.

Entretanto, Ló insistiu muito com eles, pelo que foram com ele e entraram em sua casa; e ele lhes deu um banquete, assando-lhes pães ázimos, e eles comeram.

4 B efore they lie down, the men of the city -- men of Sodom -- have come round about against the house, from young even unto aged, all the people from the extremity;

Mas antes que se deitassem, cercaram a casa os homens da cidade, isto é, os homens de Sodoma, tanto os moços como os velhos, sim, todo o povo de todos os lados;

5 a nd they call unto Lot and say to him, `Where the men who have come in unto thee to-night? bring them out unto us, and we know them.'

e, chamando a Ló, perguntaram-lhe: Onde estão os homens que entraram esta noite em tua casa? Traze-os cá fora a nós, para que os conheçamos.

6 A nd Lot goeth out unto them, to the opening, and the door hath shut behind him,

Então Ló saiu-lhes ã porta, fechando-a atrás de si,

7 a nd saith, `Do not, I pray you, my brethren, do evil;

e disse: Meus irmãos, rogo-vos que não procedais tão perversamente;

8 l o, I pray you, I have two daughters, who have not known any one; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do to them as good in your eyes; only to these men do not anything, for therefore have they come in within the shadow of my roof.'

eis aqui, tenho duas filhas que ainda não conheceram varão; eu vo-las trarei para fora, e lhes fareis como bem vos parecer: somente nada façais a estes homens, porquanto entraram debaixo da sombra do meu telhado.

9 A nd they say, `Come nigh hither;' they say also, `This one hath come in to sojourn, and he certainly judgeth! now, we do evil to thee more than them;' and they press against the man, against Lot greatly, and come nigh to break the door.

Eles, porém, disseram: Sai daí. Disseram mais: Esse indivíduo, como estrangeiro veio aqui habitar, e quer se arvorar em juiz! Agora te faremos mais mal a ti do que a eles. E arremessaram-se sobre o homem, isto é, sobre Ló, e aproximavam-se para arrombar a porta.

10 A nd the men put forth their hand, and bring in Lot unto them, into the house, and have shut the door;

Aqueles homens, porém, estendendo as mãos, fizeram Ló entrar para dentro da casa, e fecharam a porta;

11 a nd the men who at the opening of the house they have smitten with blindness, from small even unto great, and they weary themselves to find the opening.

e feriram de cegueira os que estavam do lado de fora, tanto pequenos como grandes, de maneira que cansaram de procurar a porta.

12 A nd the men say unto Lot, `Whom hast thou here still? son-in-law, thy sons also, and thy daughters, and all whom thou hast in the city, bring out from this place;

Então disseram os homens a Ló: Tens mais alguém aqui? Teu genro, e teus filhos, e tuas filhas, e todos quantos tens na cidade, tira-os para fora deste lugar;

13 f or we are destroying this place, for their cry hath been great the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah doth send us to destroy it.'

porque nós vamos destruir este lugar, porquanto o seu clamor se tem avolumado diante do Senhor, e o Senhor nos enviou a destruí-lo.

14 A nd Lot goeth out, and speaketh unto his sons-in-law, those taking his daughters, and saith, `Rise, go out from this place, for Jehovah is destroying the city;' and he is as mocking in the eyes of his sons-in-law.

Tendo saído Ló, falou com seus genros, que haviam de casar com suas filhas, e disse-lhes: Levantai-vos, saí deste lugar, porque o Senhor há de destruir a cidade. Mas ele pareceu aos seus genros como quem estava zombando.

15 A nd when the dawn hath ascended, then the messengers press upon Lot, saying, `Rise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters who are found present, lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.'

E ao amanhecer os anjos apertavam com Ló, dizendo: levanta-te, toma tua mulher e tuas duas filhas que aqui estão, para que não pereças no castigo da cidade.

16 A nd he lingereth, and the men lay hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, through the mercy of Jehovah unto him, and they bring him out, and cause him to rest without the city.

Ele, porém, se demorava; pelo que os homens pegaram-lhe pela mão a ele, ã sua mulher, e

17 A nd it cometh to pass when he hath brought them out without, that he saith, `Escape for thy life; look not expectingly behind thee, nor stand thou in all the circuit; to the mountain escape, lest thou be consumed.'

Quando os tinham tirado para fora, disse um deles: Escapa-te, salva tua vida; não olhes para trás de ti, nem te detenhas em toda esta planície; escapa-te lá para o monte, para que não pereças.

18 A nd Lot saith unto them, `Not, I pray thee, my lord;

Respondeu-lhe Ló: Ah, assim não, meu Senhor!

19 l o, I pray thee, thy servant hath found grace in thine eyes, and thou dost make great thy kindness which thou hast done with me by saving my life, and I am unable to escape to the mountain, lest the evil cleave me, and I have died;

Eis que agora o teu servo tem achado graça aos teus olhos, e tens engrandecido a tua misericórdia que a mim me fizeste, salvando-me a vida; mas eu não posso escapar-me para o monte; não seja caso me apanhe antes este mal, e eu morra.

20 l o, I pray thee, this city near to flee thither, and it little; let me escape, I pray thee, thither, (is it not little?) and my soul doth live.'

Eis ali perto aquela cidade, para a qual eu posso fugir, e é pequena. Permite que eu me escape para lá (porventura não é pequena?), e viverá a minha alma.

21 A nd he saith unto him, `Lo, I have accepted thy face also for this thing, without overthrowing the city which thou hast spoken;

Disse-lhe: Quanto a isso também te hei atendido, para não subverter a cidade de que acabas de falar.

22 h aste, escape thither, for I am not able to do anything till thine entering thither;' therefore hath he calleth the name of the city Zoar.

Apressa-te, escapa-te para lá; porque nada poderei fazer enquanto não tiveres ali chegado. Por isso se chamou o nome da cidade Zoar.

23 T he sun hath gone out on the earth, and Lot hath entered into Zoar,

Tinha saído o sol sobre a terra, quando Ló entrou em Zoar.

24 a nd Jehovah hath rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah, from the heavens;

Então o Senhor, da sua parte, fez chover do céu enxofre e fogo sobre Sodoma e Gomorra.

25 a nd He overthroweth these cities, and all the circuit, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which is shooting up from the ground.

E subverteu aquelas cidades e toda a planície, e todos os moradores das cidades, e o que nascia da terra.

26 A nd his wife looketh expectingly from behind him, and she is -- a pillar of salt!

Mas a mulher de Ló olhou para trás e ficou convertida em uma estátua de sal.

27 A nd Abraham riseth early in the morning, unto the place where he hath stood the face of Jehovah;

E Abraão levantou-se de madrugada, e foi ao lugar onde estivera em pé diante do Senhor;

28 a nd he looketh on the face of Sodom and Gomorrah, and on all the face of the land of the circuit, and seeth, and lo, the smoke of the land went up as smoke of the furnace.

e, contemplando Sodoma e Gomorra e toda a terra da planície, viu que subia da terra fumaça como a de uma fornalha.

29 A nd it cometh to pass, in God's destroying the cities of the circuit, that God remembereth Abraham, and sendeth Lot out of the midst of the overthrow in the overthrowing of the cities in which Lot dwelt.

Ora, aconteceu que, destruindo Deus as cidades da planície, lembrou-se de Abraão, e tirou Ló do meio da destruição, ao subverter aquelas cidades em que Ló habitara.

30 A nd Lot goeth up out of Zoar, and dwelleth in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, for he hath been afraid of dwelling in Zoar, and he dwelleth in a cave, he and his two daughters.

E subiu Ló de Zoar, e habitou no monte, e as suas duas filhas com ele; porque temia habitar em Zoar; e habitou numa caverna, ele e as suas duas filhas.

31 A nd the first-born saith unto the younger, `Our father old, and a man there is not in the earth to come in unto us, as the way of all the earth;

Então a primogênita disse ã menor: Nosso pai é já velho, e não há varão na terra que entre a nós, segundo o costume de toda a terra;

32 c ome, we cause our father to drink wine, and lie with him, and preserve from our father -- a seed.'

vem, demos a nosso pai vinho a beber, e deitemo-nos com ele, para que conservemos a descendência de nosso pai.

33 A nd they cause their father to drink wine on that night; and the first-born goeth in, and lieth with her father, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

Deram, pois, a seu pai vinho a beber naquela noite; e, entrando a primogênita, deitou-se com seu pai; e não percebeu ele quando ela se deitou, nem quando se levantou.

34 A nd it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that the first-born saith unto the younger, `Lo, I have lain yesterday-night with my father: we cause him to drink wine also to-night, and go thou in, lie with him, and we preserve from our father -- a seed.'

No dia seguinte disse a primogênita ã menor: Eis que eu ontem ã noite me deitei com meu pai; demos-lhe vinho a beber também esta noite; e então, entrando tu, deita-te com ele, para que conservemos a descendência de nosso pai.

35 A nd they cause their father to drink wine on that night also, and the younger riseth and lieth with him, and he hath not known in her lying down, or in her rising up.

Tornaram, pois, a dar a seu pai vinho a beber também naquela noite; e, levantando-se a menor, deitou-se com ele; e não percebeu ele quando ela se deitou, nem quando se levantou.

36 A nd the two daughters of Lot conceive from their father,

Assim as duas filhas de Ló conceberam de seu pai.

37 a nd the first-born beareth a son, and calleth his name Moab; he father of Moab unto this day;

A primogênita deu a luz a um filho, e chamou-lhe Moabe; este é o pai dos moabitas de hoje.

38 a s to the younger, she also hath born a son, and calleth his name Ben-Ammi: he father of the Beni-Ammon unto this day.

A menor também deu ã luz um filho, e chamou-lhe Ben-Ami; este é o pai dos amonitas de hoje.
