1 A nd it cometh to pass, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:

Sucedeu pois no ano quarto de Jeoiaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que da parte do Senhor veio esta palavra a Jeremias, dizendo:

2 ` Take to thee a roll of a book, and thou hast written on it all the words that I have spoken unto thee concerning Israel, and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day;

Toma o rolo dum livro, e escreve nele todas as palavras que te hei falado contra Israel, contra Judá e contra todas as nações, desde o dia em que eu te falei, desde os dias de Josias até o dia de hoje.

3 i f so be the house of Israel do hear all the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, so that they turn back each from is evil way, and I have been propitious to their iniquity, and to their sin.'

Ouvirão talvez os da casa de Judá todo o mal que eu intento fazer-lhes; para que cada qual se converta do seu mau caminho, a fim de que eu perdoe a sua iniqüidade e o seu pecado.

4 A nd Jeremiah calleth Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch writeth from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah, that He hath spoken unto him, on a roll of a book.

Então Jeremias chamou a Baruque, filho de Nerias; e escreveu Baruque, no rolo dum livro, enquanto Jeremias lhas ditava, todas as palavras que o Senhor lhe havia falado.

5 A nd Jeremiah commandeth Baruch, saying, `I am restrained, I am not able to enter the house of Jehovah;

E Jeremias deu ordem a Banique, dizendo: Eu estou impedido; não posso entrar na casa do Senhor.

6 b ut thou hast entered -- and thou hast read in the roll that thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah, in the ears of the people, in the house of Jehovah, in the day of the fast, and also in the ears of all Judah who are coming in from their cities thou dost read them;

Entra pois tu e, pelo rolo que escreveste enquanto eu ditava, lê as palavras do Senhor aos ouvidos do povo, na casa do Senhor, no dia de jejum; e também as lerás aos ouvidos de todo o Judá que vem das suas cidades.

7 i f so be their supplication doth fall before Jehovah, and they turn back each from his evil way, for great the anger and the fury that Jehovah hath spoken concerning this people.'

Pode ser que caia a sua súplica diante do Senhor, e se converta cada um do seu mau caminho; pois grande é a ira e o furor que o Senhor tem manifestado contra este povo.

8 A nd Baruch son of Neriah doth according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, to read in the book the words of Jehovah in the house of Jehovah.

E fez Baruque, filho de Nerias, conforme tudo quanto lhe havia ordenado Jeremias, o profeta, lendo no livro as palavras do Senhor na casa do Senhor.

9 A nd it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, proclaimed a fast before Jehovah have all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who are coming in from cities of Judah to Jerusalem;

No quinto ano de Jeoiaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, no mês nono, todo o povo em Jerusalém, como também todo o povo que vinha das cidades de Judá a Jerusalém, apregoaram um jejum diante do Senhor.

10 a nd Baruch readeth in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the opening of the new gate of the house of Jehovah, in the ears of all the people.

Leu, pois, Banique no livro as palavras de Jeremias, na casa do Senhor, na câmara de Gemarias, filho de Safã, o escriba, no átrio superior, ã entrada da porta nova da casa do Senhor, aos ouvidos de todo o povo.

11 A nd Michaiah son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, heareth all the words of Jehovah from off the book,

E, ouvindo Micaías, filho de Gemarias, filho de Safã, todas as palavras do Senhor, naquele livro,

12 a nd he goeth down the house of the king, unto the chamber of the scribe, and lo, there are all the heads sitting: Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan son of Acbor, and Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the heads.

desceu ã casa do rei, ã câmara do escriba. E eis que todos os príncipes estavam ali assentados: Elisama, o escriba, e Delaías, filho de Semaías, e Elnatã, filho de Acbor, e Gemarias, filho de Safã, e Zedequias, filho de Hananias, e todos os outros príncipes.

13 A nd declare to them doth Micaiah all the words that he hath heard, when Baruch readeth in the book in the ears of the people;

E Micaías anunciou-lhes todas as palavras que ouvira, quando Baruque leu o livro aos ouvidos do povo.

14 a nd all the heads send unto Baruch, Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, `The roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people take in thy hand, and come.' And Baruch son of Neriah taketh the roll in his hand and cometh in unto them,

Então todos os príncipes mandaram Jeúdi, filho de Netanias, filho Selemias, filho de Cuche, a Baruque, para lhe dizer: O rolo que leste aos ouvidos do povo, toma-o na tua mão, e vem. E Banique, filho de Nerias, tomou o rolo na sua mão, e foi ter com eles.

15 a nd they say unto him, `Sit down, we pray thee, and read it in our ears,' and Baruch readeth in their ears,

E disseram-lhe: Assenta-te agora, e lê-o aos nossos ouvidos. E Baruque o leu aos ouvidos deles.

16 a nd it cometh to pass, when they hear all the words, they have been afraid one at another, and say unto Baruch, `We do surely declare to the king all these words.'

Ouvindo eles todas aquelas palavras, voltaram-se temerosos uns para os outros, e disseram a Banique: Sem dúvida alguma temos que anunciar ao rei todas estas palavras.

17 A nd they asked Baruch, saying, `Declare, we pray thee, to us, how didst thou write all these words -- from his mouth?'

E disseram a Baruque: Declara-nos agora como escreveste todas estas palavras. Ele as ditava?

18 A nd Baruch saith to them, `From his mouth, he pronounceth unto me all these words, and I am writing on the book with ink.'

E disse-lhes Baruque: Sim, da sua boca ele me ditava todas estas palavras, e eu com tinta as escrevia no livro.

19 A nd the heads say unto Baruch, `Go, be hidden, thou and Jeremiah, and let no one know where ye.'

Então disseram os príncipes a Banique: Vai, esconde-te tu e Jeremias; e ninguém saiba onde estais.

20 A nd they go in unto the king, to the court, and the roll they have laid up in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and they declare in the ears of the king all the words.

E foram ter com o rei ao átrio; mas depositaram o rolo na câmara de Elisama, o escriba, e anunciaram aos ouvidos do rei todas aquelas palavras.

21 A nd the king sendeth Jehudi to take the roll, and he taketh it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and Jehudi readeth it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the heads who are standing by the king;

Então enviou o rei a Jeúdi para trazer o rolo; e Jeúdi tomou-o da câmara de Elisama, o escriba, e o leu aos ouvidos do rei e aos ouvidos de todos os príncipes que estavam em torno do rei.

22 a nd the king is sitting in the winter-house, in the ninth month, and the stove before him is burning,

Ora, era o nono mês e o rei estava assentado na casa de inverno, e diante dele estava um braseiro aceso.

23 a nd it cometh to pass, when Jehudi readeth three or four leaves, he cutteth it out with the scribe's knife, and hath cast unto the fire, that on the stove, till the consumption of all the roll by the fire that on the stove.

E havendo Jeúdi lido três ou quatro colunas, o rei as cortava com o canivete do escrivão, e as lançava no fogo que havia no braseiro, até que todo o rolo se consumiu no fogo que estava sobre o braseiro.

24 A nd the king and all his servants who are hearing all these words have not been afraid, nor rent their garments.

E não temeram, nem rasgaram os seus vestidos, nem o rei nem nenhum dos seus servos que ouviram todas aquelas palavras

25 A nd also Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah have interceded with the king not to burn the roll, and he hath not hearkened unto them.

e, posto que Elnatã, Delaías e Gema rias tivessem insistido com o rei que não queimasse o rolo, contudo ele não lhes deu ouvidos.

26 A nd the king commandeth Jerahmeel son of Hammelek, and Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Jehovah doth hide them.

Antes deu ordem o rei a Jerameel, filho do rei, e a Seraías, filho de Azriel, e a Selemias, filho de Abdeel, que prendessem a Baruque, o escrivão, e a Jeremias, o profeta; mas o Senhor os escondera.

27 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah -- after the king's burning the roll, even the words that Baruch hath written from the mouth of Jeremiah -- saying:

Depois que o rei queimara o rolo com as palavras que Banique escrevera da boca de Jeremias, veio a Jeremias a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:

28 ` Turn, take to thee another roll, and write on it all the former words that were on the first roll, that Jehoiakim king of Judah burnt,

Toma ainda outro rolo, e escreve nele todas aquelas palavras que estavam no primeiro rolo, que Jeoiaquim, rei de Judá, queimou.

29 a nd unto Jehoiakim king of Judah thou dost say: Thus said Jehovah, Thou hast burnt this roll, saying, Wherefore hast thou written on it, saying, The king of Babylon surely cometh in, and hath destroyed this land, and caused to cease from it man and beast?

E a Jeoiaquim, rei de Judá, dirás: Assim diz o Senhor: Tu queimaste este rolo, dizendo: Por que escreveste nele anunciando: Certamente virá o rei da Babilônia, e destruirá esta terra e fará cessar nela homens e animais?,

30 ` Therefore, thus said Jehovah, concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He hath none sitting on the throne of David, and his carcase is cast out to heat by day, and to cold by night;

Portanto assim diz o Senhor acerca de Jeoiaquim, rei de Judá: Não terá quem se assente sobre o trono de Davi, e será lançado o seu cadáver ao calor de dia, e ã geada de noite.

31 a nd I have charged on him, and on his seed, and on his servants, their iniquity; and I have brought in on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto the men of Judah, all the evil that I have spoken unto them, and they hearkened not.'

E castigá-lo-ei a ele, e a sua descendência e os seus servos, por causa da sua iniqüidade; e trarei sobre ele e sobre os moradores de Jerusalém, e sobre os homens de Judá, todo o mal que tenho pronunciado contra eles, e que não ouviram.

32 A nd Jeremiah hath taken another roll, and giveth it unto Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, and he writeth on it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah hath burnt in the fire; and again there were added unto them many words like these.

Tomou, pois, Jeremias outro rolo, e o deu a Baruque, filho de Nerias, o escrivão, o qual escreveu nele, enquanto Jeremias ditava, todas as palavras do livro que Jeoiaquim, rei de Judá, tinha queimado no fogo; e ainda se lhes acrescentaram muitas palavras semelhantes.
