1 A nd God saith unto Jacob, `Rise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared unto thee in thy fleeing from the face of Esau thy brother.'

Depois disse Deus a Jacó: Levanta-te, sobe a Betel e habita ali; e faze ali um altar ao Deus que te apareceu quando fugias da face de Esaú, teu irmão.

2 A nd Jacob saith unto his household, and unto all who with him, `Turn aside the gods of the stranger which in your midst, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;

Então disse Jacó ã sua família, e a todos os que com ele estavam: Lançai fora os deuses estranhos que há no meio de vós, e purificai-vos e mudai as vossas vestes.

3 a nd we rise, and go up to Bethel, and I make there an altar to God, who is answering me in the day of my distress, and is with me in the way that I have gone.'

Levantemo-nos, e subamos a Betel; ali farei um altar ao Deus que me respondeu no dia da minha angústia, e que foi comigo no caminho por onde andei.

4 A nd they give unto Jacob all the gods of the stranger that in their hand, and the rings that in their ears, and Jacob hideth them under the oak which by Shechem;

Entregaram, pois, a Jacó todos os deuses estranhos, que tinham nas mãos, e as arrecadas que pendiam das suas orelhas; e Jacó os escondeu debaixo do carvalho que está junto a Siquém.

5 a nd they journey, and the terror of God is on the cities which round about them, and they have not pursued after the sons of Jacob.

Então partiram; e o terror de Deus sobreveio

6 A nd Jacob cometh in to Luz which in the land of Canaan (it Bethel), he and all the people who with him,

Assim chegou Jacó ã Luz, que está na terra de Canaã (esta é Betel), ele e todo o povo que estava com ele.

7 a nd he buildeth there an altar, and proclaimeth at the place the God of Bethel: for there had God been revealed unto him, in his fleeing from the face of his brother.

Edificou ali um altar, e chamou ao lugar El-Betel; porque ali Deus se lhe tinha manifestado quando fugia da face de seu irmão.

8 A nd Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, dieth, and she is buried at the lower part of Bethel, under the oak, and he calleth its name `Oak of weeping.'

Morreu Débora, a ama de Rebeca, e foi sepultada ao pé de Betel, debaixo do carvalho, ao qual se chamou Alom-Bacute.

9 A nd God appeareth unto Jacob again, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and blesseth him;

Apareceu Deus outra vez a Jacó, quando ele voltou de Padã-Arã, e o abençoou.

10 a nd God saith to him, `Thy name Jacob: thy name is no more called Jacob, but Israel is thy name;' and He calleth his name Israel.

E disse-lhe Deus: O teu nome é Jacó; não te chamarás mais Jacó, mas Israel será o teu nome. Chamou-lhe Israel.

11 A nd God saith to him, `I God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and an assembly of nations is from thee, and kings from thy loins go out;

Disse-lhe mais: Eu sou Deus Todo-Poderoso; frutifica e multiplica-te; uma nação, sim, uma multidão de nações sairá de ti, e reis procederão dos teus lombos;

12 a nd the land which I have given to Abraham and to Isaac -- to thee I give it, yea to thy seed after thee I give the land.'

a terra que dei a Abraão e a Isaque, a ti a darei; também ã tua descendência depois de ti a darei.

13 A nd God goeth up from him, in the place where He hath spoken with him.

E Deus subiu dele, do lugar onde lhe falara.

14 A nd Jacob setteth up a standing pillar in the place where He hath spoken with him, a standing pillar of stone, and he poureth on it an oblation, and he poureth on it oil;

Então Jacó erigiu uma coluna no lugar onde Deus lhe falara, uma coluna de pedra; e sobre ela derramou uma libação e deitou-lhe também azeite;

15 a nd Jacob calleth the name of the place where God spake with him Bethel.

e Jacó chamou Betel ao lugar onde Deus lhe falara.

16 A nd they journey from Bethel, and there is yet a kibrath of land before entering Ephratha, and Rachel beareth, and is sharply pained in her bearing;

Depois partiram de Betel; e, faltando ainda um trecho pequeno para chegar a Efrata, Raquel começou a sentir dores de parto, e custou-lhe o dar ã luz.

17 a nd it cometh to pass, in her being sharply pained in her bearing, that the midwife saith to her, `Fear not, for this also a son for thee.'

Quando ela estava nas dores do parto, disse-lhe a parteira: Não temas, pois ainda terás este filho.

18 A nd it cometh to pass in the going out of her soul (for she died), that she calleth his name Ben-Oni; and his father called him Benjamin;

Então Raquel, ao sair-lhe a alma (porque morreu), chamou ao filho Benôni; mas seu pai chamou-lhe Benjamim.

19 a nd Rachel dieth, and is buried in the way to Ephratha, which Bethlehem,

Assim morreu Raquel, e foi sepultada no caminho de Efrata (esta é Bete-Leém).

20 a nd Jacob setteth up a standing pillar over her grave; which the standing pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.

E Jacó erigiu uma coluna sobre a sua sepultura; esta é a coluna da sepultura de Raquel até o dia de hoje.

21 A nd Israel journeyeth, and stretcheth out his tent beyond the tower of Edar;

Então partiu Israel, e armou a sua tenda além de Migdal-Eder.

22 a nd it cometh to pass in Israel's dwelling in that land, that Reuben goeth, and lieth with Bilhah his father's concubine; and Israel heareth.

Quando Israel habitava naquela terra, foi Rúben e deitou-se com Bila, concubina de seu pai; e Israel o soube. Eram doze os filhos de Jacó:

23 A nd the sons of Jacob are twelve. Sons of Leah: Jacob's first-born Reuben, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.

Os filhos de Léia: Rúben o primogênito de Jacó, depois Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar e Zebulom;

24 S ons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

os filhos de Raquel: José e Benjamim;

25 A nd sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maid-servant: Dan and Naphtali.

os filhos de Bila, serva de Raquel: Dã e Naftali;

26 A nd sons of Zilpah, Leah's maid-servant: Gad and Asher. These sons of Jacob, who have been born to him in Padan-Aram.

os filhos de Zilpa, serva de Léia: Gade e Aser. Estes são os filhos de Jacó, que lhe nasceram em Padã-Arã.

27 A nd Jacob cometh unto Isaac his father, at Mamre, the city of Arba (which Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac have sojourned.

Jacó veio a seu pai Isaque, a Manre, a Quiriate-Arba (esta é Hebrom), onde peregrinaram Abraão e Isaque.

28 A nd the days of Isaac are a hundred and eighty years,

Foram os dias de Isaque cento e oitenta anos;

29 a nd Isaac expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people, aged and satisfied with days; and bury him do Esau and Jacob his sons.

e, exalando o espírito, morreu e foi congregado ao seu povo, velho e cheio de dias; e Esaú e Jacó, seus filhos, o sepultaram.
