1 A nd God saith unto Jacob, `Rise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there, and make there an altar to God, who appeared unto thee in thy fleeing from the face of Esau thy brother.'

Entonces Dios dijo a Jacob: Levántate, sube a Betel y habita allí; y haz allí un altar a Dios, que se te apareció cuando huías de tu hermano Esaú.

2 A nd Jacob saith unto his household, and unto all who with him, `Turn aside the gods of the stranger which in your midst, and cleanse yourselves, and change your garments;

Entonces Jacob dijo a los de su casa y a todos los que estaban con él: Quitad los dioses extranjeros que hay entre vosotros; purificaos y mudaos los vestidos;

3 a nd we rise, and go up to Bethel, and I make there an altar to God, who is answering me in the day of my distress, and is with me in the way that I have gone.'

y levantémonos, y subamos a Betel; y allí haré un altar a Dios, quien me respondió en el día de mi angustia, y que ha estado conmigo en el camino por donde he andado.

4 A nd they give unto Jacob all the gods of the stranger that in their hand, and the rings that in their ears, and Jacob hideth them under the oak which by Shechem;

Entregaron, pues, a Jacob todos los dioses extranjeros que tenían en su poder y los pendientes que tenían en sus orejas; y Jacob los escondió debajo de la encina que había junto a Siquem.

5 a nd they journey, and the terror of God is on the cities which round about them, and they have not pursued after the sons of Jacob.

Al proseguir el viaje, hubo gran terror en las ciudades alrededor de ellos, y no persiguieron a los hijos de Jacob.

6 A nd Jacob cometh in to Luz which in the land of Canaan (it Bethel), he and all the people who with him,

Y Jacob llegó a Luz, es decir, Betel, que está en la tierra de Canaán, él y todo el pueblo que estaba con él.

7 a nd he buildeth there an altar, and proclaimeth at the place the God of Bethel: for there had God been revealed unto him, in his fleeing from the face of his brother.

Y edificó allí un altar, y llamó al lugar El-betel, porque allí Dios se le había manifestado cuando huía de su hermano.

8 A nd Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, dieth, and she is buried at the lower part of Bethel, under the oak, and he calleth its name `Oak of weeping.'

Y murió Débora, nodriza de Rebeca, y fue sepultada al pie de Betel, debajo de la encina; y ésta fue llamada Alón-bacut. Dios bendice a Jacob

9 A nd God appeareth unto Jacob again, in his coming from Padan-Aram, and blesseth him;

Y Dios se apareció de nuevo a Jacob cuando volvió de Padán-aram, y lo bendijo.

10 a nd God saith to him, `Thy name Jacob: thy name is no more called Jacob, but Israel is thy name;' and He calleth his name Israel.

Y Dios le dijo: Tu nombre es Jacob; no te llamarás más Jacob, sino que tu nombre será Israel. Y le puso el nombre de Israel.

11 A nd God saith to him, `I God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply, a nation and an assembly of nations is from thee, and kings from thy loins go out;

También le dijo Dios: Yo soy el Dios Todopoderoso. Sé fecundo y multiplícate; una nación y multitud de naciones vendrán de ti, y reyes saldrán de tus lomos.

12 a nd the land which I have given to Abraham and to Isaac -- to thee I give it, yea to thy seed after thee I give the land.'

Y la tierra que di a Abraham y a Isaac, a ti te la daré; y daré la tierra a tu descendencia después de ti.

13 A nd God goeth up from him, in the place where He hath spoken with him.

Entonces Dios subió de su lado, en el lugar donde había hablado con él.

14 A nd Jacob setteth up a standing pillar in the place where He hath spoken with him, a standing pillar of stone, and he poureth on it an oblation, and he poureth on it oil;

Y Jacob erigió un pilar en el lugar donde Dios había hablado con él, un pilar de piedra, y derramó sobre él una libación; también derramó sobre él aceite.

15 a nd Jacob calleth the name of the place where God spake with him Bethel.

Y Jacob le puso el nombre de Betel al lugar donde Dios había hablado con él. Nacimiento de Benjamín y muerte de Raquel

16 A nd they journey from Bethel, and there is yet a kibrath of land before entering Ephratha, and Rachel beareth, and is sharply pained in her bearing;

Entonces partieron de Betel; y cuando aún faltaba cierta distancia para llegar a Efrata, Raquel comenzó a dar a luz y tuvo mucha dificultad en su parto.

17 a nd it cometh to pass, in her being sharply pained in her bearing, that the midwife saith to her, `Fear not, for this also a son for thee.'

Y aconteció que cuando estaba en lo más duro del parto, la partera le dijo: No temas, porque ahora tienes este otro hijo.

18 A nd it cometh to pass in the going out of her soul (for she died), that she calleth his name Ben-Oni; and his father called him Benjamin;

Y aconteció que cuando su alma partía, pues murió, lo llamó Benoni; pero su padre lo llamó Benjamín.

19 a nd Rachel dieth, and is buried in the way to Ephratha, which Bethlehem,

Murió, pues, Raquel, y fue sepultada en el camino de Efrata, es decir, Belén.

20 a nd Jacob setteth up a standing pillar over her grave; which the standing pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.

Y erigió Jacob un pilar sobre su sepultura; ese es el pilar de la sepultura de Raquel hasta hoy.

21 A nd Israel journeyeth, and stretcheth out his tent beyond the tower of Edar;

Entonces partió Israel y plantó su tienda más allá de Migdal-eder. Los doce hijos de Jacob

22 a nd it cometh to pass in Israel's dwelling in that land, that Reuben goeth, and lieth with Bilhah his father's concubine; and Israel heareth.

Y aconteció que mientras Israel moraba en aquella tierra, Rubén fue y se acostó con Bilha, concubina de su padre; e Israel lo supo. Y los hijos de Jacob fueron doce.

23 A nd the sons of Jacob are twelve. Sons of Leah: Jacob's first-born Reuben, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.

Hijos de Lea: Rubén, el primogénito de Jacob, después Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar y Zabulón.

24 S ons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

Hijos de Raquel: José y Benjamín.

25 A nd sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maid-servant: Dan and Naphtali.

Hijos de Bilha, sierva de Raquel: Dan y Neftalí.

26 A nd sons of Zilpah, Leah's maid-servant: Gad and Asher. These sons of Jacob, who have been born to him in Padan-Aram.

E hijos de Zilpa, sierva de Lea: Gad y Aser. Estos son los hijos de Jacob que le nacieron en Padán-aram. Muerte de Isaac

27 A nd Jacob cometh unto Isaac his father, at Mamre, the city of Arba (which Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac have sojourned.

Jacob fue a su padre Isaac en Mamre de Quiriat-arba, es decir, Hebrón, donde habían residido Abraham e Isaac.

28 A nd the days of Isaac are a hundred and eighty years,

Y vivió Isaac ciento ochenta años.

29 a nd Isaac expireth, and dieth, and is gathered unto his people, aged and satisfied with days; and bury him do Esau and Jacob his sons.

Y expiró Isaac y murió, y fue reunido a su pueblo, anciano y lleno de días; y sus hijos Esaú y Jacob lo sepultaron.
