1 A nd Rehoboam cometh in to Jerusalem, and assembleth the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen warriors, to fight with Israel, to bring back the kingdom to Rehoboam.

Cuando Roboam llegó a Jerusalén, reunió la casa de Judá y Benjamín, ciento ochenta mil hombres, guerreros escogidos, para pelear contra Israel y restituir el reino a Roboam.

2 A nd a word of Jehovah is unto Shemaiah, a man of God, saying,

Pero la palabra del Señor vino a Semaías, hombre de Dios, diciendo:

3 ` Speak unto Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, and unto all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

Habla a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y a todo Israel en Judá y Benjamín, diciéndo les:

4 T hus said Jehovah, Ye do not go up nor fight with your brethren, turn back each to his house, for from Me hath this thing been;' and they hear the words of Jehovah, and turn back from going against Jeroboam.

“Así dice el Señor: ‘No subiréis ni pelearéis contra vuestros hermanos; vuelva cada uno a su casa, porque de mí ha venido esto.’” Y ellos escucharon las palabras del Señor y desistieron de ir contra Jeroboam.

5 A nd Rehoboam dwelleth in Jerusalem, and buildeth cities for a bulwark in Judah,

Y Roboam habitó en Jerusalén, y edificó ciudades para defensa en Judá.

6 y ea, he buildeth Beth-Lehem and Etam, and Tekoa,

Así edificó Belén, Etam, Tecoa,

7 a nd Beth-Zur, and Shocho, and Adullam,

Bet-sur, Soco, Adulam,

8 a nd Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,

Gat, Maresa, Zif,

9 a nd Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,

Adoraim, Laquis, Azeca,

10 a nd Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, that in Judah and in Benjamin, cities of bulwarks.

Zora, Ajalón y Hebrón, que son ciudades fortificadas en Judá y en Benjamín.

11 A nd he strengtheneth the bulwarks, and putteth in them leaders, and treasures of food, and oil, and wine,

También reforzó las fortalezas y puso comandantes en ellas, y provisiones de víveres, aceite y vino.

12 a nd in every city and city targets and spears, and strengtheneth them very greatly; and he hath Judah and Benjamin.

Y puso escudos y lanzas en todas las ciudades y las reforzó en gran manera. Así mantuvo a su lado a Judá y a Benjamín.

13 A nd the priests, and the Levites, that in all Israel, have stationed themselves by him, out of all their border,

Y los sacerdotes y los levitas que estaban en todo Israel se pasaron a él desde todos sus distritos.

14 f or the Levites have left their suburbs and their possession, and they come to Judah and to Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons have cast them off from acting as priests to Jehovah,

Porque los levitas dejaron sus tierras de pastos y sus propiedades y vinieron a Judá y a Jerusalén, pues Jeroboam y sus hijos los habían excluido de servir al Señor como sacerdotes.

15 a nd he establisheth to him priests for high places, and for goats, and for calves, that he made --

Y Jeroboam designó sus propios sacerdotes para los lugares altos, para los demonios, y para los becerros que él había hecho.

16 a nd after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, those giving their heart to seek Jehovah, God of Israel, have come in to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Jehovah, God of their father.

Aquellos de entre todas las tribus de Israel que habían resuelto en su corazón buscar al Señor, Dios de Israel, los siguieron a Jerusalén para sacrificar al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

17 A nd they strengthen the kingdom of Judah, and strengthen Rehoboam son of Solomon, for three years, because they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.

Y fortalecieron el reino de Judá y apoyaron a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, por tres años, pues anduvieron en el camino de David y de Salomón por tres años.

18 A nd Rehoboam taketh to him a wife, Mahalath, child of Jerimoth son of David, Abigail daughter of Eliab, son of Jesse.

Entonces Roboam tomó por mujer a Mahalat, hija de Jerimot, hijo de David y de Abihail, hija de Eliab, hijo de Isaí,

19 A nd she beareth to him sons, Jeush, and Shamaria, and Zaham.

y ella le dio hijos: Jeús, Semarías y Zaham.

20 A nd after her he hath taken Maachah daughter of Absalom, and she beareth to him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

Después de ella tomó a Maaca, hija de Absalón, y ella le dio a Abías, Atai, Ziza y Selomit.

21 A nd Rehoboam loveth Maachah daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines -- for eighteen wives he hath taken, and sixty concubines -- and he begetteth twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.

Y amó Roboam a Maaca, hija de Absalón, más que a todas sus otras mujeres y concubinas. Porque había tomado dieciocho mujeres y sesenta concubinas, y engendró veintiocho hijos y sesenta hijas.

22 A nd Rehoboam appointeth for head Abijah son of Maachah, for leader among his brethren, for to cause him to reign.

Roboam puso a Abías, hijo de Maaca, por cabeza y jefe entre sus hermanos, porque quería hacerlo rey.

23 A nd he hath understanding, and spreadeth out of all his sons to all lands of Judah and Benjamin, to all cities of the bulwarks, and giveth to them provision in abundance; and he asketh a multitude of wives.

Y obró sabiamente, y distribuyó a algunos de sus hijos por todos los territorios de Judá y de Benjamín, por todas las ciudades fortificadas, les dio alimento en abundancia, y les buscó muchas mujeres.
