1 A n Instruction of Asaph. Why, O God, hast Thou cast off for ever? Thine anger smoketh against the flock of Thy pasture.

Oh Dios, ¿por qué nos has rechazado para siempre ? ¿ Por qué se enciende tu ira contra las ovejas de tu prado ?

2 R emember Thy company. Thou didst purchase of old, Thou didst redeem the rod of Thy inheritance, This mount Zion -- Thou didst dwell in it.

Acuérdate de tu congregación, la que adquiriste desde los tiempos antiguos, la que redimiste para que sea la tribu de tu heredad, y de este monte Sion donde has habitado.

3 L ift up Thy steps to the perpetual desolations, Everything the enemy did wickedly in the sanctuary.

Dirige tus pasos hacia las ruinas eternas; todo lo que hay en el santuario lo ha dañado el enemigo.

4 R oared have thine adversaries, In the midst of Thy meeting-places, They have set their ensigns as ensigns.

Tus adversarios han rugido en medio de tu lugar de reunión; han puesto sus estandartes por señales.

5 H e is known as one bringing in on high Against a thicket of wood -- axes.

Parece como si alguien hubiera levantado el hacha en espeso bosque.

6 A nd now, its carvings together With axe and hatchet they break down,

Y ahora, toda su obra de talla hacen pedazos con hachas y martillos.

7 T hey have sent into fire Thy sanctuary, to the earth they polluted the tabernacle of Thy name,

Han quemado tu santuario hasta los cimientos; han profanado la morada de tu nombre.

8 T hey said in their hearts, `Let us oppress them together,' They did burn all the meeting-places of God in the land.

Dijeron en su corazón: Arrasémoslos por completo. Han quemado todos los santuarios de Dios en la tierra.

9 O ur ensigns we have not seen, There is no more a prophet, Nor with us is one knowing how long.

No vemos nuestras señales; ya no queda profeta, ni hay entre nosotros quien sepa hasta cuándo.

10 T ill when, O God, doth an adversary reproach? Doth an enemy despise thy name for ever?

¿Hasta cuándo, oh Dios, blasfemará el adversario ? ¿Despreciará el enemigo tu nombre para siempre ?

11 W hy dost Thou turn back Thy hand, Even Thy right hand? From the midst of Thy bosom remove.

¿Por qué retiras tu mano, tu diestra ? ¡ Sácala de dentro de tu seno, destrúye los!

12 A nd God my king of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth.

Con todo, Dios es mi rey desde la antigüedad, el que hace obras de salvación en medio de la tierra.

13 T hou hast broken by Thy strength a sea-, Thou hast shivered Heads of dragons by the waters,

Tú dividiste el mar con tu poder; quebraste las cabezas de los monstruos en las aguas.

14 T hou hast broken the heads of leviathan, Thou makest him food, For the people of the dry places.

Tú aplastaste las cabezas de Leviatán; lo diste por comida a los moradores del desierto.

15 T hou hast cleaved a fountain and a stream, Thou hast dried up perennial flowings.

Tú abriste fuentes y torrentes; tú secaste ríos inagotables.

16 T hine the day, also Thine the night, Thou hast prepared a light giver -- the sun.

Tuyo es el día, tuya es también la noche; tú has preparado la lumbrera y el sol.

17 T hou hast set up all the borders of earth, Summer and winter Thou hast formed them.

Tú has establecido todos los términos de la tierra; tú has hecho el verano y el invierno.

18 R emember this -- an enemy reproached Jehovah, And a foolish people have despised Thy name.

Acuérdate de esto, Señor: que el enemigo ha blasfemado, y que un pueblo insensato ha despreciado tu nombre.

19 G ive not up to a company, The soul of Thy turtle-dove, The company of Thy poor ones forget not for ever.

El alma de tu tórtola no entregues a la fiera; no olvides para siempre la vida de tus afligidos.

20 L ook attentively to the covenant, For the dark places of earth, Have been full of habitations of violence.

Mira el pacto, Señor, porque los lugares tenebrosos de la tierra están llenos de moradas de violencia.

21 L et not the oppressed turn back ashamed, Let the poor and needy praise Thy name,

No vuelva avergonzado el oprimido; alaben tu nombre el afligido y el necesitado.

22 A rise, O God, plead Thy plea, Remember Thy reproach from a fool all the day.

Levántate, oh Dios, defiende tu causa; acuérdate de cómo el necio te injuria todo el día.

23 F orget not the voice of Thine adversaries, The noise of Thy withstanders is going up continually!

No te olvides del vocerío de tus adversarios, del tumulto de los que se levantan contra ti, que sube continuamente.
