1 I n the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, hath this word been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

Al principio del reinado de Sedequías, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, vino esta palabra de parte del Señor a Jeremías, diciendo:

2 ` Thus said Jehovah unto me, Make to thee bands and yokes,

Así me ha dicho el Señor: Hazte coyundas y yugos y póntelos al cuello,

3 A nd thou hast put them on thy neck, and hast sent them unto the king of Edom, and unto the king of Moab, and unto the king of the sons of Ammon, and unto the king of Tyre, and unto the king of Zidon, by the hand of messengers who are coming in to Jerusalem, unto Zedekiah king of Judah;

y envía palabra al rey de Edom, al rey de Moab, al rey de los hijos de Amón, al rey de Tiro y al rey de Sidón por medio de los mensajeros que vienen a Jerusalén a ver a Sedequías, rey de Judá.

4 A nd thou hast commanded them for their lords, saying, Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel,

Y ordénales que digan a sus señores: “Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, así diréis a vuestros señores:

5 T hus do ye say unto your lords, I -- I have made the earth with man, and the cattle that on the face of the earth, by My great power, and by My stretched-out arm, and I have given it to whom it hath been right in Mine eyes.

‘Yo hice la tierra, los hombres y los animales que están sobre la faz de la tierra con mi gran poder y con mi brazo extendido, y la doy a quien me place.

6 ` And now, I -- I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and also the beast of the field I have given to him to serve him;

‘Y ahora yo he puesto todas estas tierras en manos de mi siervo Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, siervo mío, y también las bestias del campo le he dado para que le sirvan.

7 A nd served him have all the nations, and his son, and his son's son, till the coming in of the time of his land, also it; and done service for him have many nations and great kings.

‘Y todas las naciones le servirán a él, a su hijo, y al hijo de su hijo, hasta que llegue también la hora a su propia tierra; entonces muchas naciones y grandes reyes lo harán su siervo.

8 A nd it hath come to pass, the nation and the kingdom that do not serve him -- Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon -- and that which putteth not its neck into the yoke of the king of Babylon, with sword, and with famine, and with pestilence, I lay a charge on that nation -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- till I consume them by his hand.

‘Y sucederá que la nación o el reino que no sirva a Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y que no ponga su cerviz bajo el yugo del rey de Babilonia, con espada, con hambre y con pestilencia a esa nación castigaré’ —declara el Señor — ‘hasta que yo la haya destruido por su mano.

9 ` And ye, ye do not hearken unto your prophets, and unto your diviners, and unto your dreamers, and unto your observers of clouds, and unto your sorcerers who are speaking unto you, saying, Ye do not serve the king of Babylon, --

‘Vosotros, pues, no escuchéis a vuestros profetas, a vuestros adivinos, a vuestros soñadores, a vuestros agoreros ni a vuestros hechiceros que os hablan, diciendo: “No serviréis al rey de Babilonia.”

10 F or falsehood they are prophesying to you, so as to remove you far from off your ground, and I have driven you out, and ye have perished.

‘Porque ellos os profetizan mentira, para alejaros de vuestra tierra, y para que yo os expulse y perezcáis.

11 A nd the nation that causeth its neck to enter into the yoke of the king of Babylon, and hath served him -- I have left it on its ground -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and it hath tilled it, and dwelt in it.'

‘Pero la nación que ponga su cerviz bajo el yugo del rey de Babilonia y le sirva, la dejaré en su tierra’ —declara el Señor — ‘y la cultivará y habitará en ella.’”

12 A nd unto Zedekiah king of Judah I have spoken according to all these words, saying, `Cause your necks to enter into the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

Y a Sedequías, rey de Judá, hablé palabras como éstas, diciendo: Poned vuestra cerviz bajo el yugo del rey de Babilonia, y servidle a él y a su pueblo, y viviréis.

13 W hy do ye die, thou and thy people, by sword, by famine, and by pestilence, as Jehovah hath spoken concerning the nation that doth not serve the king of Babylon?

¿Por qué habéis de morir, tú y tu pueblo, por la espada, el hambre y la pestilencia, tal como ha hablado el Señor de la nación que no sirva al rey de Babilonia ?

14 ` And ye do not hearken unto the words of the prophets who are speaking unto you, saying, Ye do not serve the king of Babylon, -- for falsehood they are prophesying to you.

No escuchéis, pues, las palabras de los profetas que os hablan, diciendo: “No serviréis al rey de Babilonia”, porque os profetizan mentira.

15 F or I have not sent them -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and they are prophesying in My name falsely, so as to drive you out, and ye have perished, ye, and the prophets who are prophesying to you.'

Yo no los he enviado —declara el Señor — y ellos profetizan mentira en mi nombre, para que yo os expulse y perezcáis vosotros y los profetas que os profetizan.

16 A nd unto the priests, and unto all this people, I have spoken, saying, `Thus said Jehovah, Ye do not hearken unto the words of your prophets, who are prophesying to you, saying, Lo, the vessels of the house of Jehovah are brought back from Babylon now in haste, for falsehood they are prophesying to you.

Y hablé a los sacerdotes y a todo este pueblo, diciendo: Así dice el Señor: No escuchéis las palabras de vuestros profetas que os profetizan, diciendo: “He aquí, los utensilios de la casa del Señor serán devueltos en breve de Babilonia ”, porque ellos os profetizan mentira.

17 Y e do not hearken unto them, serve the king of Babylon, and live. Why is this city a waste?

No los escuchéis; servid al rey de Babilonia y viviréis. ¿Por qué ha de convertirse en ruinas esta ciudad ?

18 ` And, if they be prophets, and if a word of Jehovah be with them, let them intercede, I pray you, with Jehovah of Hosts, so that the vessels that are left in the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, have not gone into Babylon.

Mas si ellos son profetas, y si la palabra del Señor está con ellos, que supliquen ahora al Señor de los ejércitos para que los utensilios que quedan en la casa del Señor, en la casa del rey de Judá y en Jerusalén, no sean llevados a Babilonia.

19 F or thus said Jehovah of Hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the rest of the vessels that are left in this city,

Porque así dice el Señor de los ejércitos acerca de las columnas, del mar, de las basas y de los demás utensilios que quedan en esta ciudad,

20 T hat Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath not taken, in his removing Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon with all the freemen of Judah and Jerusalem,

los cuales no tomó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, cuando llevó al destierro a Jeconías, hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, de Jerusalén a Babilonia con todos los nobles de Judá y de Jerusalén.

21 S urely thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left of the house of Jehovah, and of the house of the king of Judah, and Jerusalem:

Sí, así dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, acerca de los utensilios que quedan en la casa del Señor, en la casa del rey de Judá y en Jerusalén:

22 T o Babylon they are brought, and there they are till the day of My inspecting them -- an affirmation of Jehovah; then I have brought them up, and have brought them back unto this place.'

“A Babilonia serán llevados, y allí quedarán hasta el día en que yo los visite ” —declara el Señor —. “Entonces los traeré y los restituiré a este lugar.”
