1 W isdom hath builded her house, She hath hewn out her pillars -- seven.

2 S he hath slaughtered her slaughter, She hath mingled her wine, Yea, she hath arranged her table.

ha preparado su alimento, ha mezclado su vino, ha puesto también su mesa;

3 S he hath sent forth her damsels, She crieth on the tops of the high places of the city:

ha enviado a sus doncellas, y clama desde los lugares más altos de la ciudad:

4 ` Who simple? let him turn aside hither.' Whoso lacketh heart: she hath said to him,

El que sea simple que entre aquí. Al falto de entendimiento le dice:

5 ` Come, eat of my bread, And drink of the wine I have mingled.

Venid, comed de mi pan, y bebed del vino que he mezclado.

6 F orsake ye, the simple, and live, And be happy in the way of understanding.

Abandonad la necedad y viviréis, y andad por el camino del entendimiento.

7 T he instructor of a scorner Is receiving for it -- shame, And a reprover of the wicked -- his blemish.

El que corrige al escarnecedor, atrae sobre sí deshonra, y el que reprende al impío recibe insultos.

8 R eprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee, Give reproof to the wise, and he loveth thee.

No reprendas al escarnecedor, para que no te aborrezca; reprende al sabio, y te amará.

9 G ive to the wise, and he is wiser still, Make known to the righteous, And he increaseth learning.

Da instrucción al sabio, y será aún más sabio, enseña al justo, y aumentará su saber.

10 T he commencement of wisdom the fear of Jehovah, And a knowledge of the Holy Ones understanding.

El principio de la sabiduría es el temor del Señor, y el conocimiento del Santo es inteligencia.

11 F or by me do thy days multiply, And added to thee are years of life.

Pues por mí se multiplicarán tus días, y años de vida te serán añadidos.

12 I f thou hast been wise, thou hast been wise for thyself, And thou hast scorned -- thyself bearest.

Si eres sabio, eres sabio para provecho tuyo, y si escarneces, tú solo lo sufrirás.

13 A foolish woman noisy, Simple, and hath not known what.

La mujer insensata es alborotadora, es simple y no sabe nada.

14 A nd she hath sat at the opening of her house, On a throne -- the high places of the city,

Y se sienta a la puerta de su casa, en un asiento, en los lugares altos de la ciudad,

15 T o call to those passing by the way, Who are going straight their paths.

llamando a los que pasan, a los que van derechos por sus sendas:

16 ` Who simple? let him turn aside hither.' And whoso lacketh heart -- she said to him,

El que sea simple, que entre aquí. Y al falto de entendimiento, le dice:

17 ` Stolen waters are sweet, And hidden bread is pleasant.'

Dulces son las aguas hurtadas, y el pan comido en secreto es sabroso.

18 A nd he hath not known that Rephaim there, In deep places of Sheol her invited ones!

Pero él no sabe que allí están los muertos, que sus invitados están en las profundidades del Seol.
