1 C oncerning the sons of Ammon: `Thus said Jehovah: Sons -- hath Israel none? heir -- hath he none? Wherefore hath Malcam possessed Gad? And his people in its cities have dwelt?

Acerca de los hijos de Amón. Así dice el Señor: ¿No tiene hijos Israel? ¿No tiene heredero? ¿Por qué, pues, Milcom se ha apoderado de Gad y su pueblo se ha establecido en sus ciudades?

2 T herefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I have sounded unto Rabbah of the sons of Ammon a shout of battle, And it hath been for a heap -- a desolation, And her daughters with fire are burnt, And Israel hath succeeded its heirs, Said hath Jehovah.

Por tanto, he aquí, vienen días —declara el Señor — en que haré que se oiga el grito de guerra contra Rabá de los hijos de Amón, y será convertida en montón de ruinas, y sus ciudades serán incendiadas. Entonces se apoderará Israel de los que lo poseían —dice el Señor.

3 H owl, Heshbon, for spoiled is Ai, Cry, daughters of Rabbah, gird on sackcloth, Lament, and go to and fro by the hedges, For Malcam into captivity doth go, His priests and his princes together.

Gime, Hesbón, porque Hai ha sido destruida. Clamad, hijas de Rabá, ceñíos de cilicio y lamentaos, corred de un lado a otro por entre los muros, porque Milcom irá al destierro junto con sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes.

4 W hat -- dost thou boast thyself in valleys? Flowed hath thy valley, O backsliding daughter, Who is trusting in her treasures: Who doth come in unto me?

¡Cómo te jactas de los valles! Tu valle se desvanece, hija infiel, la que confía en sus tesoros, diciendo: “¿Quién vendrá contra mí ?”

5 L o, I am bringing in upon thee a fear, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, From all round about thee, And ye have been driven out each before it, And there is no gatherer of the wandering.

He aquí, traigo sobre ti terror —declara el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos— de todos tus alrededores; y seréis lanzados cada uno delante de sí, y no habrá quien reúna a los fugitivos.

6 A nd after this I turn back the captivity of the sons of Ammon, An affirmation of Jehovah.'

Pero después restauraré el bienestar de los hijos de Amón —declara el Señor. Profecía sobre Edom

7 C oncerning Edom: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? Perished hath counsel from the intelligent? Vanished hath their wisdom?

Acerca de Edom. Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: ¿No hay ya sabiduría en Temán? ¿Se ha perdido el consejo de los prudentes? ¿Se ha corrompido su sabiduría?

8 F lee, turn, go deep to dwell, ye inhabitants of Dedan, For the calamity of Esau I brought in upon him, The time I inspected him.

Huid, volved, morad en las profundidades, habitantes de Dedán, porque la ruina de Esaú traeré sobre él al momento de castigarlo.

9 I f gatherers have come in to thee, They do not leave gleanings, If thieves in the night, They have destroyed their sufficiency!

Si vinieran a ti vendimiadores, ¿no dejarían rebuscos? Si vinieran ladrones de noche, sólo destruirían hasta que les bastara.

10 F or I -- I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, And to be hidden he is not able, Spoiled his seed, and his brethren, And his neighbours, and he is not.

Pero yo he despojado totalmente a Esaú, he descubierto sus escondrijos y no podrá esconderse. Ha sido destruida su descendencia, sus hermanos y vecinos, y él ya no existe.

11 L eave thine orphans -- I do keep alive, And thy widows -- on Me trust ye,

Deja a tus huérfanos, yo los conservaré con vida; que tus viudas confíen en mí.

12 F or thus said Jehovah: They whose judgment is not to drink of the cup, Do certainly drink, And thou he that is entirely acquitted! Thou art not acquitted, for thou certainly drinkest.

Pues así dice el Señor: He aquí, los que no estaban condenados a beber la copa, ciertamente la beberán, ¿y serás tú absuelto por completo? No serás absuelto, sino que ciertamente la beberás.

13 F or, by Myself, I have sworn, An affirmation of Jehovah, That for a desolation, for a reproach, For a waste, and for a reviling -- is Bozrah, And all her cities are for wastes age-during.

Porque por mí he jurado —declara el Señor — que Bosra será motivo de horror, de oprobio, de ruina y de maldición; todas sus ciudades se convertirán en ruinas perpetuas.

14 A report I have heard from Jehovah, And an ambassador among nations is sent, Gather yourselves and come in against her, And rise ye for battle.

He oído un mensaje de parte del Señor, y un mensajero es enviado entre las naciones, diciendo: Reuníos y venid contra él, y levantaos para la guerra.

15 F or, lo, little I have made thee among nations, Despised among men.

Pues he aquí, pequeño te he hecho entre las naciones, menospreciado entre los hombres.

16 T hy terribleness hath lifted thee up, The pride of thy heart, O dweller in clefts of the rock, Holding the high place of the height, For thou makest high as an eagle thy nest, From thence I bring thee down, An affirmation of Jehovah.

En cuanto al terror que infundías, te ha engañado la soberbia de tu corazón; tú que vives en las hendiduras de las peñas, que ocupas la cumbre del monte. Aunque hagas tu nido tan alto como el del águila, de allí te haré bajar —declara el Señor.

17 A nd Edom hath been for a desolation, Every passer by her is astonished, And doth hiss because of all her plagues.

Y Edom se convertirá en objeto de horror; todo el que pase por él se quedará atónito y silbará a causa de todas sus heridas.

18 A s the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, And its neighbours, said Jehovah, No one doth dwell there, Nor sojourn in her doth a son of man.

Como en la destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra y de sus ciudades vecinas —dice el Señor — nadie habitará allí, ni residirá en él hijo de hombre.

19 L o, as a lion he cometh up, Because of the rising of the Jordan, Unto the enduring habitation, But I cause to rest, I cause him to run from off her, And who is chosen? concerning her I lay a charge, For who is like Me? and who conveneth Me? And who this shepherd who standeth before Me?

He aquí que uno subirá como león de la espesura del Jordán contra el pastizal de perenne verdor, y en un instante lo haré huir de él, y al que sea escogido nombraré sobre él. Porque ¿quién es como yo y quién me citará a juicio ? ¿Quién es el pastor que me podrá resistir ?

20 T herefore, hear ye the counsel of Jehovah, That He hath counselled concerning Edom, And His devices that He hath devised Concerning the inhabitants of Teman: Drag them out do not little ones of the flock, Make desolate over them doth he not their habitation?

Por tanto, oíd el plan que el Señor ha trazado contra Edom, y los designios que ha decretado contra los habitantes de Temán: ciertamente los arrastrarán, aun a los más pequeños del rebaño; ciertamente a causa de ellos hará una desolación de su pastizal.

21 F rom the noise of their fall hath the earth shaken, The cry -- at the sea of Suph is its voice heard.

Al estruendo de su caída tiembla la tierra; hay un clamor. Hasta el mar Rojo se oye su voz.

22 L o, as an eagle he cometh up, and flieth, And he spreadeth his wings over Bozrah, And the heart of the mighty of Edom hath been in that day, As the heart of a distressed woman!'

He aquí, se remonta, vuela veloz como un águila y extiende sus alas contra Bosra. En aquel día el corazón de los valientes de Edom será como el corazón de una mujer de parto. Profecía sobre Damasco

23 C oncerning Damascus: Ashamed hath been Hamath and Arpad, For an evil report they have heard, They have been melted, in the sea sorrow, To be quiet it is not able.

Acerca de Damasco. Avergonzadas están Hamat y Arfad. Porque han oído malas noticias están desalentadas. Hay ansiedad como en el mar que no se puede calmar.

24 F eeble hath been Damascus, She turned to flee, and fear strengthened her, Distress and pangs have seized her, as a travailing woman.

Desamparada está Damasco; se ha vuelto para huir, y el pánico se ha apoderado de ella; angustia y dolores la oprimen como a mujer de parto.

25 H ow is it not left -- the city of praise, The city of my joy!

¿Cómo es que no ha sido abandonada la ciudad alabada, la ciudad de mi regocijo ?

26 T herefore fall do her young men in her broad places, And all the men of war are cut off in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

Por eso sus jóvenes caerán en sus calles, y todos los hombres de guerra serán silenciados en aquel día —declara el Señor de los ejércitos.

27 A nd I have kindled a fire against the wall of Damascus, And it consumed palaces of Ben-Hadad!'

Y prenderé fuego al muro de Damasco que consumirá los palacios de Ben-adad. Profecía sobre Cedar y Hazor

28 C oncerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath smitten: `Thus said Jehovah: Arise ye, go ye up unto Kedar, And spoil the sons of the east.

Acerca de Cedar y de los reinos de Hazor, que derrotó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia. Así dice el Señor: Levantaos, subid a Cedar y destruid a los hijos del oriente.

29 T heir tents and their flock they do take, Their curtains, and all their vessels, And their camels, they bear away for themselves, And they called concerning them, Fear round about.

Sus tiendas y sus rebaños serán tomados; las cortinas de sus tiendas, todos sus bienes y sus camellos se los llevarán, y gritarán el uno al otro: “¡Terror por todas partes!”

30 F lee, bemoan mightily, go deep to dwell, Ye inhabitants of Hazor -- an affirmation of Jehovah, For given counsel against you hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Yea, he deviseth against them a device.

Escapaos, huid; morad en las profundidades, habitantes de Hazor —declara el Señor —, porque Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, ha concebido un plan contra vosotros, ha trazado un designio contra vosotros.

31 R ise ye, go up unto a nation at rest, Dwelling confidently, an affirmation of Jehovah, It hath no two-leaved doors nor bar, Alone they do dwell.

Levantaos, subid contra una nación tranquila, que vive confiada —declara el Señor. No tiene puertas ni cerrojos; viven solitarios.

32 A nd their camels have been for a prey, And the multitude of their cattle for a spoil, And I have scattered them to every wind, Who cut off the corner, And from all its passages I bring in their calamity, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Sus camellos serán el despojo, y la multitud de sus ganados el botín; esparciré a todos los vientos a los que se rapan las sienes, y de todos lados les traeré su ruina —declara el Señor.

33 A nd Hazor hath been for a habitation of dragons, A desolation -- unto the age, No one doth dwell there, nor sojourn in it doth a son of man!'

Y Hazor será guarida de chacales, una desolación para siempre; nadie habitará allí, ni residirá en ella hijo de hombre. Profecía sobre Elam

34 T hat which hath been the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying:

Palabra del Señor que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de Elam al comienzo del reinado de Sedequías, rey de Judá, diciendo:

35 ` Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Lo, I am breaking the bow of Elam, The beginning of their might.

Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “He aquí, quebraré el arco de Elam, lo mejor de su fortaleza.

36 A nd I have brought in to Elam four winds, From the four ends of the heavens, And have scattered them to all these winds, And there is no nation whither outcasts of Elam come not in.

“Y traeré sobre Elam los cuatro vientos desde los cuatro extremos del cielo, y a todos estos vientos los esparciré; no habrá nación adonde no vayan los expulsados de Elam.

37 A nd I have affrighted Elam before their enemies, And before those seeking their life, And I have brought in against them evil, The heat of Mine anger, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I have sent after them the sword, Till I have consumed them;

“Destrozaré a Elam delante de sus enemigos y delante de los que buscan sus vidas; traeré sobre ellos calamidad, el ardor de mi ira ” —declara el Señor — “y enviaré tras ellos la espada hasta que los haya acabado.

38 A nd I have set My throne in Elam, And I have destroyed thence King and princes -- an affirmation of Jehovah.

“Entonces pondré mi trono en Elam, y allí destruiré al rey y a los príncipes” —declara el Señor.

39 A nd it hath come to pass, in the latter end of the days, I turn back the captivity of Elam, An affirmation of Jehovah!'

“Pero sucederá en los postreros días que restauraré el bienestar de Elam” —declara el Señor.
