1 A nd a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets hath cried unto Elisha, saying, `Thy servant, my husband, is dead, and thou hast known that thy servant was fearing Jehovah, and the lender hath come to take my two children to him for servants.'

Y una mujer de las mujeres de los hijos de los profetas clamó a Eliseo, diciendo: Tu siervo, mi marido, ha muerto, y tú sabes que tu siervo temía al Señor; y ha venido el acreedor a tomar a mis dos hijos para esclavos suyos.

2 A nd Elisha saith unto her, `What do I do for thee? declare to me, what hast thou in the house?' and she saith, `Thy maid-servant hath nothing in the house except a pot of oil.'

Y Eliseo le dijo: ¿Qué puedo hacer por ti? Dime qué tienes en casa. Y ella respondió: Tu sierva no tiene en casa más que una vasija de aceite.

3 A nd he saith, `Go, ask for thee vessels from without, from all thy neighbours -- empty vessels -- let not be few;

Entonces él le dijo: Ve, pide vasijas prestadas por todas partes de todos tus vecinos, vasijas vacías; no pidas pocas.

4 a nd thou hast entered, and shut the door upon thee, and upon thy sons, and hast poured out into all these vessels, and the full ones thou dost remove.'

Luego entra y cierra la puerta detrás de ti y de tus hijos y echa el aceite en todas estas vasijas, poniendo aparte las que estén llenas.

5 A nd she goeth from him, and shutteth the door upon her, and upon her sons; they are bringing nigh unto her, and she is pouring out,

Y ella se fue de su lado, y cerró la puerta tras sí y de sus hijos; y ellos traían las vasijas y ella echaba el aceite.

6 a nd it cometh to pass, at the filling of the vessels, that she saith unto her son, `Bring nigh unto me a vessel more,' and he saith unto her, `There is not a vessel more;' and the oil stayeth.

Y sucedió que cuando las vasijas estuvieron llenas, dijo ella a un hijo suyo: Tráeme otra vasija. Y él le dijo: No hay más vasijas. Y cesó el aceite.

7 A nd she cometh and declareth to the man of God, and he saith, `Go, sell the oil, and repay thy loan; and thou thy sons do live of the rest.'

Entonces ella fue y se lo contó al hombre de Dios. Y él le dijo: Ve, vende el aceite y paga tu deuda, y tú y tus hijos podéis vivir de lo que quede. Eliseo y la sunamita

8 A nd the day cometh that Elisha passeth over unto Shunem, and there a great woman, and she layeth hold on him to eat bread, and it cometh to pass, at the time of his passing over, he turneth aside thither to eat bread,

Y aconteció que un día pasaba Eliseo por Sunem, donde había una mujer distinguida, y ella le persuadió a que comiera. Y así fue que siempre que pasaba, entraba allí a comer.

9 a nd she saith unto her husband, `Lo, I pray thee, I have known that a holy man of God he is, passing over by us continually;

Y ella dijo a su marido: He aquí, ahora entiendo que éste que siempre pasa por nuestra casa, es un hombre santo de Dios.

10 l et us make, I pray thee, a little upper chamber of the wall, and we set for him there a bed, and a table, and a high seat, and a candlestick; and it hath been, in his coming in unto us, he doth turn aside thither.'

Te ruego que hagamos un pequeño aposento alto, con paredes, y pongamos allí para él una cama, una mesa, una silla y un candelero; y será que cuando venga a nosotros, se podrá retirar allí.

11 A nd the day cometh, that he cometh in thither, and turneth aside unto the upper chamber, and lieth there,

Y aconteció que un día vino él por allí, se retiró al aposento alto y allí se acostó.

12 a nd he saith unto Gehazi his young man, `Call for this Shunammite;' and he calleth for her, and she standeth before him.

Entonces dijo a Giezi su criado: Llama a esta sunamita. Y cuando la llamó, ella se presentó delante de él.

13 A nd he saith to him, `Say, I pray thee, unto her, Lo, thou hast troubled thyself concerning us with all this trouble; what -- to do for thee? is it to speak for thee unto the king, or unto the head of the host?' and she saith, `In the midst of my people I am dwelling.'

Y él le dijo a Giezi: Dile ahora: “He aquí, te has preocupado por nosotros con todo este cuidado; ¿qué puedo hacer por ti? ¿Quieres que hable por ti al rey o al jefe del ejército?” Y ella respondió: Yo vivo en medio de mi pueblo.

14 A nd he saith, `And what -- to do for her?' and Gehazi saith, `Verily she hath no son, and her husband aged.'

El entonces dijo: ¿Qué, pues, se puede hacer por ella? Y Giezi respondió: En verdad ella no tiene ningún hijo y su marido es viejo.

15 A nd he saith, `Call for her;' and he calleth for her, and she standeth at the opening,

Y él dijo: Llámala. Cuando él la llamó, ella se detuvo a la entrada.

16 a nd he saith, `At this season, according to the time of life, thou art embracing a son;' and she saith, `Nay, my lord, O man of God, do not lie unto thy maid-servant.'

Entonces él le dijo: Por este tiempo, el año que viene, abrazarás un hijo. Y ella dijo: No, señor mío, hombre de Dios, no engañes a tu sierva.

17 A nd the woman conceiveth and beareth a son, at this season, according to the time of life, that Elisha spake of unto her.

Pero la mujer concibió y dio a luz un hijo al año siguiente en el tiempo que Eliseo le había dicho.

18 A nd the lad groweth, and the day cometh that he goeth out unto his father, unto the reapers,

Y cuando el niño creció, llegó el día en que salió al campo adonde estaba su padre con los segadores,

19 a nd he saith unto his father, `My head, my head;' and he saith unto the young man, `Bear him unto his mother;'

y dijo a su padre: ¡Ay, mi cabeza, mi cabeza! Y el padre dijo a un criado: Llévalo a su madre.

20 a nd he beareth him, and bringeth him in unto his mother, and he sitteth on her knees till the noon, and dieth.

Y tomándolo, lo llevó a su madre, y estuvo sentado en sus rodillas hasta el mediodía, y murió.

21 A nd she goeth up, and layeth him on the bed of the man of God, and shutteth upon him, and goeth out,

Entonces ella subió y lo puso sobre la cama del hombre de Dios, cerró la puerta detrás de él y salió.

22 a nd calleth unto her husband, and saith, `Send, I pray thee, to me, one of the young men, and one of the asses, and I run unto the man of God, and return.'

Luego llamó a su marido y le dijo: Te ruego que me envíes uno de los criados y una de las asnas, para que yo vaya corriendo al hombre de Dios y regrese.

23 A nd he saith, `Wherefore art thou going unto him to-day? -- neither new moon nor sabbath!' and she saith, `Peace!'

Y él dijo: ¿Por qué vas hoy a él? No es luna nueva ni día de reposo. Y ella respondió: Quédate en paz.

24 A nd she saddleth the ass, and saith unto her young man, `Lead, and go, do not restrain riding for me, except I have said to thee.'

Entonces ella aparejó el asna y dijo a su criado: Arrea y anda; no detengas el paso por mí a menos que yo te lo diga.

25 A nd she goeth, and cometh in unto the man of God, unto the hill of Carmel, and it cometh to pass, at the man of God's seeing her from over-against, that he saith unto Gehazi his young man, `Lo, this Shunammite;

Y ella fue y llegó al hombre de Dios en el monte Carmelo. Y sucedió que cuando el hombre de Dios la vio a lo lejos, dijo a Giezi su criado: He aquí, allá viene la sunamita.

26 n ow, run, I pray thee, to meet her, and say to her, Is there peace to thee? is there peace to thy husband? is there peace to the lad?' and she saith, `Peace.'

Te ruego que corras ahora a su encuentro y le digas: “¿Te va bien a ti? ¿Le va bien a tu marido? ¿Le va bien al niño?” Y ella respondió: Bien.

27 A nd she cometh in unto the man of God, unto the hill, and layeth hold on his feet, and Gehazi cometh nigh to thrust her away, and the man of God saith, `Let her alone, for her soul bitter to her, and Jehovah hath hidden from me, and hath not declared to me.'

Cuando ella llegó al monte, al hombre de Dios, se asió de sus pies. Y Giezi se acercó para apartarla, pero el hombre de Dios dijo: Déjala, porque su alma está angustiada y el Señor me lo ha ocultado y no me lo ha revelado.

28 A nd she saith, `Did I ask a son from my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me?'

Entonces ella dijo: ¿Acaso pedí un hijo a mi señor? ¿No dije: “No me engañes ?”

29 A nd he saith to Gehazi, `Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go; when thou dost meet a man, thou dost not salute him; and when a man doth salute thee, thou dost not answer him; and thou hast laid my staff on the face of the youth.'

Entonces él dijo a Giezi: Ciñe tus lomos y toma mi báculo en tu mano, y vete; si encuentras a alguno, no lo saludes, y si alguien te saluda, no le respondas, y pon mi báculo sobre el rostro del niño.

30 A nd the mother of the youth saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth -- if I leave thee;' and he riseth and goeth after her.

Y la madre del niño dijo: Vive el Señor y vive tu alma, que no me apartaré de ti. Entonces él se levantó y la siguió.

31 A nd Gehazi hath passed on before them, and layeth the staff on the face of the youth, and there is no voice, and there is no attention, and he turneth back to meet him, and declareth to him, saying, `The youth hath not awaked.'

Y Giezi se adelantó a ellos y puso el báculo sobre el rostro del niño, mas no hubo voz ni reacción. Así que volvió para encontrarlo, y le dijo: El niño no ha despertado.

32 A nd Elisha cometh in to the house, and lo, the youth is dead, laid on his bed,

Cuando Eliseo entró en la casa, he aquí, el niño estaba muerto, tendido sobre su cama.

33 a nd he goeth in and shutteth the door upon them both, and prayeth unto Jehovah.

Y entrando, cerró la puerta tras ambos y oró al Señor.

34 A nd he goeth up, and lieth down on the lad, and putteth his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands, and stretcheth himself upon him, and the flesh of the lad becometh warm;

Entonces subió y se acostó sobre el niño, y puso la boca sobre su boca, los ojos sobre sus ojos y las manos sobre sus manos, y se tendió sobre él; y la carne del niño entró en calor.

35 a nd he turneth back and walketh in the house, once hither and once thither, and goeth up and stretcheth himself upon him, and the youth sneezeth till seven times, and the youth openeth his eyes.

Entonces Eliseo volvió y caminó por la casa de un lado para otro, y subió y se tendió sobre él; y el niño estornudó siete veces y abrió sus ojos.

36 A nd he calleth unto Gehazi, and saith, `Call unto this Shunammite;' and he calleth her, and she cometh in unto him, and he saith, `Lift up thy son.'

Y Eliseo llamó a Giezi y le dijo: Llama a la sunamita. Y él la llamó. Y cuando ella vino a Eliseo, él dijo: Toma a tu hijo.

37 A nd she goeth in, and falleth at his feet, and boweth herself to the earth, and lifteth up her son, and goeth out.

Entonces ella entró, cayó a sus pies y se postró en tierra, y tomando a su hijo, salió. Otros milagros de Eliseo

38 A nd Elisha hath turned back to Gilgal, and the famine in the land, and the sons of the prophets are sitting before him, and he saith to his young man, `Set on the great pot, and boil pottage for the sons of the prophets.'

Cuando Eliseo regresó a Gilgal, había hambre en la tierra. Y estando sentados los hijos de los profetas delante de él, dijo a su criado: Pon la olla grande y cuece potaje para los hijos de los profetas.

39 A nd one goeth out unto the field to gather herbs, and findeth a vine of the field, and gathereth of it gourds of the field -- the fulness of his garment -- and cometh in and splitteth into the pot of pottage, for they knew not;

Entonces uno de ellos salió al campo a recoger hierbas, y encontró una viña silvestre y de ella recogió su falda llena de calabazas silvestres, y vino y las cortó en pedazos en la olla de potaje, porque no sabía lo que eran.

40 a nd they pour out for the men to eat, and it cometh to pass at their eating of the pottage, that they have cried out, and say, `Death in the pot, O man of God!' and they have not been able to eat.

Y lo sirvieron para que los hombres comieran. Y sucedió que cuando comían el potaje, clamaron y dijeron: ¡Oh hombre de Dios, hay muerte en la olla! Y no pudieron comer.

41 A nd he saith, `Then bring ye meal;' and he casteth into the pot, and saith, `Pour out for the people, and they eat;' and there was no evil thing in the pot.

Pero él dijo: Traedme harina. Y la echó en la olla, y dijo: Sírve lo a la gente para que coman. Y ya no había nada malo en la olla.

42 A nd a man hath come from Baal-Shalishah, and bringeth in to the man of God bread of first-fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in its husk, and he saith, `Give to the people, and they eat.'

Y vino un hombre de Baal-salisa y trajo al hombre de Dios panes de primicias, veinte panes de cebada y espigas de grano nuevo en su bolsa. Y él dijo: Da los a la gente para que coman.

43 A nd his minister saith, `What -- do I give this before a hundred men?' and he saith, `Give to the people, and they eat, for thus said Jehovah, Eat and leave;'

Y su sirviente dijo: ¿Cómo pondré esto delante de cien hombres? Pero él respondió: Da los a la gente para que coman, porque así dice el Señor: “Comerán y sobrará.”

44 a nd he giveth before them, and they eat and leave, according to the word of Jehovah.

Y lo puso delante de ellos y comieron, y sobró conforme a la palabra del Señor.
