1 A nd it cometh to pass afterwards that Absalom son of David hath a fair sister, and her name Tamar, and Amnon son of David loveth her.

Después de esto aconteció que teniendo Absalón, hijo de David, una hermana muy hermosa que se llamaba Tamar, se enamoró de ella Amnón, hijo de David.

2 A nd Amnon hath distress -- even to become sick, because of Tamar his sister, for she a virgin, and it is hard in the eyes of Amnon to do anything to her.

Y Amnón estaba tan atormentado a causa de su hermana Tamar que se enfermó, porque ella era virgen, y le parecía difícil a Amnón hacerle cosa alguna.

3 A nd Amnon hath a friend, and his name Jonadab, son of Shimeah, David's brother, and Jonadab a very wise man,

Pero Amnón tenía un amigo que se llamaba Jonadab, hijo de Simea, hermano de David; y Jonadab era un hombre muy astuto.

4 a nd saith to him, `Wherefore thou thus lean, O king's son, morning by morning? dost thou not declare to me?' And Amnon saith to him, `Tamar -- sister of Absalom my brother -- I am loving.'

Y éste le dijo: Hijo del rey, ¿por qué estás tan deprimido día tras día ? ¿No me lo contarás? Y Amnón le dijo: Estoy enamorado de Tamar, hermana de mi hermano Absalón.

5 A nd Jonadab saith to him, `Lie down on thy couch, and feign thyself sick, and thy father hath come in to see thee, and thou hast said unto him, `Let, I pray thee, Tamar my sister come in and give me bread to eat; and she hath made the food before mine eyes so that I see, and have eaten from her hand.'

Entonces Jonadab le dijo: Acuéstate en tu cama, y finge que estás enfermo; y cuando tu padre venga a verte, dile: “Te ruego que dejes que mi hermana Tamar venga y me dé algún alimento para comer, y que prepare la comida delante de mí para que yo la vea y la coma de su mano.”

6 A nd Amnon lieth down, and feigneth himself sick, and the king cometh in to see him, and Amnon saith unto the king, `Let, I pray thee, Tamar my sister come, and she maketh before mine eyes two cakes, and I eat from her hand.'

Amnón se acostó y se fingió enfermo. Cuando el rey vino a verlo, Amnón dijo al rey: Te ruego que venga mi hermana Tamar y haga dos tortas delante de mí para que yo coma de su mano.

7 A nd David sendeth unto Tamar, to the house, saying, `Go, I pray thee, to the house of Amnon thy brother, and make for him food.'

Y David envió mensaje a Tamar, a su casa, diciendo: Ve ahora a la casa de tu hermano Amnón, y prepárale la comida.

8 A nd Tamar goeth to the house of Amnon her brother, and he is lying down, and she taketh the dough, and kneadeth, and maketh cakes before his eyes, and cooketh the cakes,

Fue, pues, Tamar a la casa de su hermano Amnón, y él estaba acostado. Y ella tomó masa, la amasó, hizo tortas delante de él y las coció.

9 a nd taketh the frying-pan, and poureth out before him, and he refuseth to eat, and Amnon saith, `Take ye out every one from me;' and they go out every one from him.

Y tomando la sartén, las sirvió delante de él, pero él rehusó comer. Y Amnón dijo: Que salgan todos de aquí. Y todos salieron de allí.

10 A nd Amnon saith unto Tamar, `Bring the food into the inner chamber, and I eat from thy hand;' and Tamar taketh the cakes that she hath made, and bringeth in to Amnon her brother, into the inner chamber,

Entonces Amnón dijo a Tamar: Trae la comida a la alcoba para que yo coma de tu mano. Y Tamar tomó las tortas que había hecho y las llevó a su hermano Amnón a la alcoba.

11 a nd she bringeth nigh unto him to eat, and he layeth hold on her, and saith to her, `Come, lie with me, my sister.'

Cuando ella se las llevó para que comiera, él le echó mano, y le dijo: Ven, acuéstate conmigo, hermana mía.

12 A nd she saith to him, `Nay, my brother, do not humble me, for it is not done so in Israel; do not this folly.

Pero ella le respondió: No, hermano mío, no abuses de mí, porque tal cosa no se hace en Israel; no cometas esta infamia.

13 A nd I -- whither do I cause my reproach to go? and thou -- thou art as one of the fools in Israel; and now, speak, I pray thee, unto the king; for he doth not withhold me from thee.'

Pues, ¿adónde iría yo con mi deshonra ? Y tú serías como uno de los insensatos de Israel. Ahora pues, te ruego que hables al rey, que él no me negará a ti.

14 A nd he hath not been willing to hearken to her voice, and is stronger than she, and humbleth her, and lieth with her.

Pero él no quiso escucharla; como era más fuerte que ella, la forzó, y se acostó con ella.

15 A nd Amnon hateth her -- a very great hatred -- that greater the hatred with which he hath hated her than the love with which he loved her, and Amnon saith to her, `Rise, go.'

Entonces Amnón la aborreció con un odio muy grande; porque el odio con que la aborreció fue mayor que el amor con que la había amado. Y Amnón le dijo: Levántate, vete.

16 A nd she saith to him, `Because of the circumstances this evil is greater than the other that thou hast done with me -- to send me away;' and he hath not been willing to hearken to her,

Pero ella le respondió: No, porque esta injusticia que me haces, echándome fuera, es mayor que la otra que me has hecho. Mas él no quiso oírla.

17 a nd calleth his young man, his servant, and saith, `Send away, I pray thee, this one from me without, and bolt the door after her;'

Llamó, pues, a su criado que le servía y le dijo: Echa a esta mujer fuera de aquí, y cierra la puerta tras ella.

18 - - and upon her a long coat, for such upper robes do daughters of the king who virgins put on, -- and his servant taketh her out without, and hath bolted the door after her.

(Llevaba ella un vestido de manga larga, porque así se vestían con túnicas las hijas vírgenes del rey.) Su criado la echó fuera, y cerró la puerta tras ella.

19 A nd Tamar taketh ashes for her head, and the long coat that on her she hath rent, and putteth her hand on her head, and goeth, going on and crying;

Entonces Tamar se puso ceniza sobre la cabeza, rasgó el vestido de manga larga que llevaba puesto, y se fue gritando con las manos sobre la cabeza. Venganza de Absalón

20 a nd Absalom her brother saith unto her, `Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? and now, my sister, keep silent, he thy brother; set not thy heart to this thing;' and Tamar dwelleth -- but desolate -- in the house of Absalom her brother.

Su hermano Absalón le dijo: ¿Ha estado contigo tu hermano Amnón? Guarda silencio ahora, hermana mía; tu hermano es; no se angustie tu corazón por este asunto. Tamar, pues, se quedó desconsolada en casa de su hermano Absalón.

21 A nd king David hath heard all these things, and it is very displeasing to him;

Cuando el rey David se enteró de todas estas cosas, se enojó mucho.

22 a nd Absalom hath not spoken with Amnon either evil or good, for Absalom is hating Amnon, because that he humbled Tamar his sister.

Pero Absalón no le habló a Amnón ni bien ni mal; pues Absalón odiaba a Amnón, porque había violado a su hermana Tamar.

23 A nd it cometh to pass, after two years of days, that Absalom hath shearers in Baal-Hazor, which with Ephraim, and Absalom calleth for all the sons of the king.

Después de dos años, aconteció que teniendo Absalón esquiladores de ovejas en Baal-hazor, que está junto a Efraín, Absalón invitó a todos los hijos del rey.

24 A nd Absalom cometh unto the king, and saith, `Lo, I pray thee, thy servant hath shearers, let the king go, I pray thee, and his servants, with thy servant.'

Y vino Absalón al rey y dijo: He aquí, ahora tu siervo tiene esquiladores de ovejas; ruego que venga el rey y sus siervos con tu siervo.

25 A nd the king saith unto Absalom, `Nay, my son, let us not all go, I pray thee, and we are not too heavy on thee;' and he presseth on him, and he hath not been willing to go, and he blesseth him.

Mas el rey respondió a Absalón: No, hijo mío, no debemos ir todos, para no ser carga para ti. Y aunque le insistió, no quiso ir, mas lo bendijo.

26 A nd Absalom saith, `If not -- let, I pray thee, Amnon my brother go with us;' and the king saith to him, `Why doth he go with thee?'

Entonces Absalón dijo: Pues si no, te ruego que dejes ir a mi hermano Amnón con nosotros. Y el rey le respondió: ¿Por qué ha de ir contigo?

27 a nd Absalom urgeth on him, and he sendeth with him Amnon, and all the sons of the king.

Mas cuando Absalón le insistió, dejó ir con él a Amnón y a todos los hijos del rey.

28 A nd Absalom commandeth his young men, saying, `See, I pray thee, when the heart of Amnon glad with wine, and I have said unto you, Smite Amnon, that ye have put him to death; fear not; is it not because I have commanded you? be strong, yea, become sons of valour.'

Absalón ordenó a sus siervos, diciendo: Mirad, cuando el corazón de Amnón esté alegre por el vino, y cuando yo os diga: “Herid a Amnón”, entonces matadle. No temáis; ¿no os lo he mandado yo? Tened ánimo y sed valientes.

29 A nd the young men of Absalom do to Amnon as Absalom commanded, and rise do all the sons of the king, and they ride, each on his mule, and flee.

Y los siervos de Absalón hicieron a Amnón tal como Absalón les había mandado. Entonces todos los hijos del rey se levantaron, y montándose cada uno en su mulo, huyeron.

30 A nd it cometh to pass -- they in the way -- and the report hath come unto David, saying, `Absalom hath smitten all the sons of the king, and there is not left of them one;'

Estando aún ellos en el camino, llegó a David el rumor que decía: Absalón ha dado muerte a todos los hijos del rey, y no ha quedado ni uno de ellos.

31 a nd the king riseth, and rendeth his garments, and lieth on the earth, and all his servants are standing by rent garments.

Entonces el rey se levantó, rasgó sus vestidos y se echó en tierra; y todos sus siervos estaban a su lado con los vestidos rasgados.

32 A nd Jonadab son of Shimeah, David's brother, answereth and saith, `Let not my lord say, The whole of the young men, the sons of the king, they have put to death; for Amnon alone dead, for by the command of Absalom it hath been appointed from the day of his humbling Tamar his sister;

Y Jonadab, hijo de Simea, hermano de David, dijo: No crea mi señor que han dado muerte a todos los jóvenes, hijos del rey, pues sólo ha muerto Amnón; porque esto había sido determinado por decisión de Absalón desde el día en que Amnón violó a su hermana Tamar.

33 a nd now, let not my lord the king lay unto his heart the word, saying, All the sons of the king have died, for Amnon alone dead.'

Ahora pues, no tome en serio mi señor el rey el rumor que dice: “todos los hijos del rey murieron”, porque sólo Amnón ha muerto. Huida de Absalón

34 A nd Absalom fleeth, and the young man who is watching lifteth up his eyes and looketh, and lo, much people are coming by the way behind him, on the side of the hill.

Entre tanto Absalón había huido. Y el joven que estaba de atalaya alzó los ojos y miró, y he aquí, mucha gente que venía por el camino que estaba a sus espaldas del lado del monte.

35 A nd Jonadab saith unto the king, `Lo, the sons of the king have come; as the word of thy servant, so it hath been.'

Y Jonadab dijo al rey: He aquí, son los hijos del rey que vienen; conforme a la palabra de tu siervo, así ha sucedido.

36 A nd it cometh to pass at his finishing to speak, that lo, the sons of the king have come, and they lift up their voice, and weep, and also the king and all his servants have wept -- a very great weeping.

Y aconteció que apenas había acabado de hablar, he aquí, los hijos del rey llegaron, alzaron su voz y lloraron; y también el rey y todos sus siervos lloraron muy amargamente.

37 A nd Absalom hath fled, and goeth unto Talmai, son of Ammihud, king of Geshur, and mourneth for his son all the days.

Huyó Absalón y fue a Talmai, hijo de Amiud, rey de Gesur. Y David lloraba por su hijo todos los días.

38 A nd Absalom hath fled, and goeth to Geshur, and is there three years;

Así fue que Absalón huyó a Gesur, y estuvo allí tres años.

39 a nd king David determineth to go out unto Absalom, for he hath been comforted for Amnon, for dead.

Y el rey David ansiaba ir adonde estaba Absalón, pues con respecto a Amnón que había muerto, ya se había consolado.
