1 W o those secure in Zion, And those confident in the mount of Samaria, The marked of the chief of the nations, And come to them have the house of Israel.

¡Ay de los que viven reposadamente en Sion, y de los que se sienten seguros en el monte de Samaria, los notables de las naciones principales, a quienes acude la casa de Israel!

2 P ass ye over Calneh and see, And go thence Hamath the great, And go down Gath of the Philistines, Are better than these kingdoms? Greater their border than your border?

Pasad a Calne y mirad, y de allí id a Hamat la grande, descended luego a Gat de los filisteos. ¿Sois vosotros mejores que estos reinos, o es su territorio mayor que el vuestro?

3 W ho are putting away the day of evil, And ye bring nigh the seat of violence,

¿Alejáis el día de la calamidad, y acercáis la silla de la violencia ?

4 W ho are lying down on beds of ivory, And are spread out on their couches, And are eating lambs from the flock, And calves from the midst of the stall,

Los que se acuestan en camas de marfil, se tienden sobre sus lechos, comen corderos del rebaño y terneros de en medio del establo;

5 W ho are taking part according to the psaltery, Like David they invented for themselves instruments of music;

que improvisan al son del arpa, y como David han compuesto cantos para sí;

6 W ho are drinking with bowls of wine, And chief perfumes anoint, And have not been pained for the breach of Joseph.

que beben vino en tazones del altar y se ungen con los óleos más finos, pero no se lamentan por la ruina de José,

7 T herefore now they remove at the head of the captives, And turned aside is the mourning-feast of stretched-out ones.

irán por tanto ahora al destierro a la cabeza de los desterrados, y se acabarán los banquetes de los disolutos.

8 S worn hath the Lord Jehovah by Himself, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts: I am abominating the excellency of Jacob, And his high places I have hated, And I have delivered up the city and its fulness.

El Señor Dios ha jurado por sí mismo, ha declarado el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos: Aborrezco la arrogancia de Jacob, y detesto sus palacios; por tanto entregaré la ciudad y cuanto hay en ella.

9 A nd if there are left ten persons in one house, It hath come to pass -- that they have died.

Y sucederá que si diez hombres quedan en una misma casa, morirán.

10 A nd lifted him up hath his loved one, even his burner, To bring forth the bones from the house, And he said to him who in the sides of the house, `Is there yet with thee?' And he said, `None,' then he said, `Hush! Save to make mention of the name of Jehovah.'

Entonces su tío o su incinerador, levantará a cada uno para sacar sus huesos de la casa, y dirá al que está en el fondo de la casa: ¿Hay alguien más contigo? Y éste responderá: Nadie. Entonces aquél dirá: Calla, porque no se debe hacer mención del nombre del Señor.

11 F or lo, Jehovah is commanding, And He hath smitten the great house breaches, And the little house clefts.

Porque he aquí, el Señor ordenará que la casa grande sea reducida a escombros y que la casa pequeña sea hecha pedazos.

12 D o horses run on a rock? Doth one plough with oxen? For ye have turned to gall judgment, And the fruit of righteousness to wormwood.

¿Corren los caballos por la peña? ¿Se ara en ella con bueyes? Pues vosotros habéis convertido el derecho en veneno, y el fruto de la justicia en amargura;

13 O ye who are rejoicing at nothing, Who are saying, `Have we not by our strength taken to ourselves horns?'

vosotros que os alegráis por Lo-debar, que decís: ¿No hemos tomado para nosotros Carnáyim con nuestra propia fuerza ?

14 S urely, lo, I am raising against you a nation, O house of Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah, God of Hosts, And they have oppressed you from the coming in to Hamath, Unto the stream of the desert.

Pues he aquí, levantaré contra vosotros, oh casa de Israel, —declara el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos— una nación que os afligirá desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el arroyo del Arabá.
