1 L o, I am sending My messenger, And he hath prepared a way before Me, And suddenly come in unto his temple Doth the Lord whom ye are seeking, Even the messenger of the covenant, Whom ye are desiring, Lo, he is coming, said Jehovah of Hosts.

He aquí, yo envío a mi mensajero, y él preparará el camino delante de mí. Y vendrá de repente a su templo el Señor a quien vosotros buscáis; y el mensajero del pacto en quien vosotros os complacéis, he aquí, viene —dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

2 A nd who is bearing the day of his coming? And who is standing in his appearing? For he as fire of a refiner, And as soap of a fuller.

¿Pero quién podrá soportar el día de su venida? ¿Y quién podrá mantenerse en pie cuando El aparezca ? Porque El es como fuego de fundidor y como jabón de lavanderos.

3 A nd he hath sat, a refiner and purifier of silver, And he hath purified the sons of Levi, And hath refined them as gold and as silver, And they have been to Jehovah bringing nigh a present in righteousness.

Y El se sentará como fundidor y purificador de plata, y purificará a los hijos de Leví y los acrisolará como a oro y como a plata, y serán los que presenten ofrendas en justicia al Señor.

4 A nd sweet to Jehovah hath been the present of Judah and Jerusalem, As in days of old, and as in former years.

Entonces será grata al Señor la ofrenda de Judá y de Jerusalén, como en los días de antaño y como en los años pasados.

5 A nd I have drawn near to you for judgment, And I have been a witness, Making haste against sorcerers, And against adulterers, And against swearers to a falsehood, And against oppressors of the hire of an hireling, Of a widow, and of a fatherless one, And those turning aside a sojourner, And who fear Me not, said Jehovah of Hosts.

Y me acercaré a vosotros para el juicio, y seré un testigo veloz contra los hechiceros, contra los adúlteros, contra los que juran en falso y contra los que oprimen al jornalero en su salario, a la viuda y al huérfano, contra los que niegan el derecho del extranjero y los que no me temen —dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

6 F or I Jehovah, I have not changed, And ye, the sons of Jacob, Ye have not been consumed.

Porque yo, el Señor, no cambio; por eso vosotros, oh hijos de Jacob, no habéis sido consumidos. El pago de los diezmos

7 E ven from the days of your fathers Ye have turned aside from My statutes, And ye have not taken heed. Turn back unto Me, and I turn back to you, Said Jehovah of Hosts. And ye have said, `In what do we turn back?'

Desde los días de vuestros padres os habéis apartado de mis estatutos y no los habéis guardado. Volved a mí y yo volveré a vosotros —dice el Señor de los ejércitos. Pero decís: “¿Cómo hemos de volver?”

8 D oth man deceive God? but ye are deceiving Me, And ye have said: `In what have we deceived Thee?' The tithe and the heave-offering!

¿Robará el hombre a Dios? Pues vosotros me estáis robando. Pero decís: “¿En qué te hemos robado?” En los diezmos y en las ofrendas.

9 W ith a curse ye are cursed! And Me ye are deceiving -- this nation -- all of it.

Con maldición estáis malditos, porque vosotros, la nación entera, me estáis robando.

10 B ring in all the tithe unto the treasure-house, And there is food in My house; When ye have tried Me, now, with this, Said Jehovah of Hosts, Do not I open to you the windows of heaven? Yea, I have emptied on you a blessing till there is no space.

Traed todo el diezmo al alfolí, para que haya alimento en mi casa; y ponedme ahora a prueba en esto —dice el Señor de los ejércitos— si no os abriré las ventanas del cielo, y derramaré para vosotros bendición hasta que sobreabunde.

11 A nd I have pushed for you against the consumer, And He doth not destroy to you the fruit of the ground, Nor miscarry to you doth the vine in the field, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

Por vosotros reprenderé al devorador, para que no os destruya los frutos del suelo; ni vuestra vid en el campo será estéril —dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

12 A nd declared you happy have all the nations, For ye are a delightful land, said Jehovah of Hosts.

Y todas las naciones os llamarán bienaventurados, porque seréis una tierra de delicias —dice el Señor de los ejércitos. El justo y el injusto

13 H ard against Me have been your words, Said Jehovah, and ye have said: `What have we spoken against Thee?'

Vuestras palabras han sido duras contra mí —dice el Señor —. Pero decís: “¿Qué hemos hablado contra ti?”

14 Y e have said, `A vain thing to serve God! And what gain when we kept His charge? And when we have gone in black, Because of Jehovah of Hosts?

Habéis dicho: “En vano es servir a Dios. ¿Qué provecho hay en que guardemos sus ordenanzas y en que andemos de duelo delante del Señor de los ejércitos?

15 A nd now, we are declaring the proud happy, Yea, built up have been those doing wickedness, Yea they have tempted God, and escape.'

“Por eso ahora llamamos bienaventurados a los soberbios. No sólo prosperan los que hacen el mal, sino que también ponen a prueba a Dios y escapan impunes.”

16 T hen have those fearing Jehovah spoken one to another, And Jehovah doth attend and hear, And written is a book of memorial before Him Of those fearing Jehovah, And of those esteeming His name.

Entonces los que temían al Señor se hablaron unos a otros, y el Señor prestó atención y escuchó, y fue escrito delante de El un libro memorial para los que temen al Señor y para los que estiman su nombre.

17 A nd they have been to Me, said Jehovah of Hosts, In the day that I am appointing -- a peculiar treasure, And I have had pity on them, As one hath pity on his son who is serving him.

Y ellos serán míos —dice el Señor de los ejércitos— el día en que yo prepare mi tesoro especial, y los perdonaré como un hombre perdona al hijo que le sirve.

18 A nd ye have turned back and considered, Between the righteous and the wicked, Between the servant of God and him who is not His servant.

Entonces volveréis a distinguir entre el justo y el impío, entre el que sirve a Dios y el que no le sirve.
