1 A nd Samson goeth down to Timnath, and seeth a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines,

Y Sansón descendió a Timnat y vio allí a una mujer de las hijas de los filisteos.

2 a nd cometh up and declareth to his father, and to his mother, and saith, `A woman I have seen in Timnath, of the daughters of the Philistines; and now, take her for me for a wife.'

Cuando regresó, se lo contó a su padre y a su madre, diciendo: Vi en Timnat a una mujer de las hijas de los filisteos; ahora pues, tomádmela por mujer.

3 A nd his father saith to him -- also his mother, `Is there not among the daughters of thy brethren, and among all my people, a woman, that thou art going to take a woman from the uncircumcised Philistines?' and Samson saith unto his father, `Take her for me, for she is right in mine eyes.'

Le respondieron su padre y su madre: ¿No hay mujer entre las hijas de tus parientes o entre todo nuestro pueblo, para que vayas a tomar mujer de los filisteos incircuncisos ? Pero Sansón dijo a su padre: Tómala para mí, porque ella me agrada.

4 A nd his father and his mother have not known that from Jehovah it, that a meeting he is seeking of the Philistines; and at that time the Philistines are ruling over Israel.

Y su padre y su madre no sabían que esto era del Señor, porque El buscaba ocasión contra los filisteos, pues en aquel tiempo los filisteos dominaban a Israel.

5 A nd Samson goeth down -- also his father and his mother, to Timnath, and they come unto the vineyards of Timnath, and lo, a lion's whelp roareth at meeting him,

Y Sansón descendió a Timnat con su padre y con su madre, y llegó hasta los viñedos de Timnat; y he aquí, un león joven venía rugiendo hacia él.

6 a nd the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and he rendeth it as the rending of a kid, and there is nothing in his hand, and he hath not declared to his father and to his mother that which he hath done.

Y el Espíritu del Señor vino sobre él con gran poder, y lo despedazó como se despedaza un cabrito, aunque no tenía nada en su mano; pero no contó a su padre ni a su madre lo que había hecho.

7 A nd he goeth down and speaketh to the woman, and she is right in the eyes of Samson;

Descendió y habló con la mujer; y ella le agradó a Sansón.

8 a nd he turneth back after days to take her, and turneth aside to see the carcase of the lion, and lo, a company of bees in the body of the lion -- and honey.

Cuando regresó más tarde para tomarla, se apartó del camino para ver el cadáver del león; y he aquí que había un enjambre de abejas y miel en el cuerpo del león.

9 A nd he taketh it down on to his hands, and goeth on, going and eating; and he goeth unto his father, and unto his mother, and giveth to them, and they eat, and he hath not declared to them that from the body of the lion he took down the honey.

Recogió la miel en sus manos y siguió adelante, comiéndo la mientras caminaba. Cuando llegó adonde estaban su padre y su madre, les dio miel y ellos comieron; pero no les contó que había recogido la miel del cuerpo del león. El enigma de Sansón

10 A nd his father goeth down unto the woman, and Samson maketh there a banquet, for so the young men do;

Entonces el padre descendió adonde estaba la mujer; y Sansón hizo allí un banquete, porque así acostumbraban hacer los jóvenes.

11 a nd it cometh to pass when they see him, that they take thirty companions, and they are with him.

Y sucedió que cuando lo vieron, trajeron a treinta compañeros para que estuvieran con él.

12 A nd Samson saith to them, `Let me, I pray you, put forth to you a riddle; if ye certainly declare it to me the seven days of the banquet, and have found out, then I have given to you thirty linen shirts, and thirty changes of garments;

Y Sansón les dijo: Permitidme proponeros ahora un enigma; y si en verdad me lo declaráis dentro de los siete días del banquete, y lo descifráis, entonces os daré treinta vestidos de lino y treinta mudas de ropa.

13 a nd if ye are not able to declare to me, then ye have given to me thirty linen shirts, and thirty changes of garments.' And they say to him, `Put forth thy riddle, and we hear it!'

Pero si no podéis declarármelo, entonces vosotros me daréis treinta vestidos de lino y treinta mudas de ropa. Y ellos le dijeron: Propón tu enigma, para que lo escuchemos.

14 A nd he saith to them: `Out of the eater came forth meat, And out of the strong came forth sweetness;' and they were not able to declare the riddle three days.

Y él les dijo: Del que come salió comida, y del fuerte salió dulzura. Y no pudieron declararle el enigma en tres días.

15 A nd it cometh to pass, on the seventh day, that they say to Samson's wife, `Entice thy husband, that he declare to us the riddle, lest we burn thee and the house of thy father with fire; to possess us have ye called for us? is it not?'

Y al cuarto día dijeron a la mujer de Sansón: Induce a tu marido a que nos declare el enigma, o te quemaremos a fuego a ti y a la casa de tu padre. Nos habéis invitado para empobrecernos. ¿No es así?

16 A nd Samson's wife weepeth for it, and saith, `Thou hast only hated me, and hast not loved me; the riddle thou hast put forth to the sons of my people -- and to me thou hast not declared it;' and he saith to her, `Lo, to my father and to my mother I have not declared -- and to thee I declare!'

Y la mujer de Sansón lloró delante de él, y dijo: Sólo me aborreces y no me quieres; has propuesto un enigma a los hijos de mi pueblo, y no me lo has declarado. Y él le dijo: He aquí que no lo he declarado ni a mi padre ni a mi madre; ¿y te lo he de declarar a ti?

17 A nd she weepeth for it the seven days which their banquet hath been, and it cometh to pass on the seventh day that he declareth to her, for she hath distressed him; and she declareth the riddle to the sons of her people.

Mas ella lloró delante de él los siete días que duró su banquete. Y sucedió el séptimo día que él se lo declaró porque ella le presionaba mucho. Entonces ella declaró el enigma a los hijos de su pueblo.

18 A nd the men of the city say to him on the seventh day, before the sun goeth in: -- `What sweeter than honey? And what stronger than a lion?' And he saith to them: `Unless ye had ploughed with my heifer, Ye had not found out my riddle.'

Y al séptimo día, antes de ponerse el sol, los hombres de la ciudad le dijeron: ¿Qué es más dulce que la miel? ¿Y qué es más fuerte que un león? Y él les dijo: Si no hubiereis arado con mi novilla, no habríais descubierto mi enigma.

19 A nd the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and he goeth down to Ashkelon, and smiteth of them thirty men, and taketh their armour, and giveth the changes to those declaring the riddle; and his anger burneth, and he goeth up to the house of his father;

Entonces el Espíritu del Señor vino sobre él con gran poder, y descendió a Ascalón y mató a treinta de ellos y tomando sus despojos, dio las mudas de ropa a los que habían declarado el enigma. Y ardiendo en ira, subió a la casa de su padre.

20 a nd Samson's wife becometh his companion's, who his friend.

Pero la mujer de Sansón fue dada al compañero que había sido su amigo íntimo.
