1 A nd it cometh to pass when Jabin king of Hazor heareth, that he sendeth unto Jobab king of Madon, and unto the king of Shimron, and unto the king of Achshaph,

Y aconteció que cuando se enteró Jabín, rey de Hazor, envió mensajeros a Jobab, rey de Madón, al rey de Simrón, al rey de Acsaf,

2 a nd unto the kings who on the north in the hill-country, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the low country, and in the elevations of Dor, on the west,

y a los reyes que estaban al norte en la región montañosa, en el Arabá al sur de Cineret, y en las tierras bajas y en las alturas de Dor al occidente;

3 t he Canaanite on the east, and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill-country, and the Hivite under Hermon, in the land of Mizpeh --

al cananeo que estaba al oriente y al occidente, al amorreo, al hitita, al ferezeo y al jebuseo en la región montañosa, y al heveo al pie del Hermón en la tierra de Mizpa.

4 a nd they go out, they and all their camps with them, a people numerous, as the sand which on the sea-shore for multitude, and horse and charioteer very many;

Y salieron ellos, y todos sus ejércitos con ellos, tanta gente como la arena que está a la orilla del mar, con muchísimos caballos y carros.

5 a nd all these kings are met together, and they come and encamp together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

Así que todos estos reyes, habiendo acordado unirse, vinieron y acamparon juntos cerca de las aguas de Merom para pelear contra Israel.

6 A nd Jehovah saith unto Joshua, `Be not afraid of their presence, for to-morrow about this time I am giving all of them wounded before Israel; their horses thou dost hough, and their chariots burn with fire.'

Entonces dijo el Señor a Josué: No temas a causa de ellos, porque mañana a esta hora yo entregaré a todos ellos muertos delante de Israel; desjarretarás sus caballos y quemarás sus carros a fuego.

7 A nd Joshua cometh, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and they fall on them;

Y Josué, y toda la gente de guerra con él, vino de repente sobre ellos junto a las aguas de Merom, y los atacó.

8 a nd Jehovah giveth them into the hand of Israel, and they smite them and pursue them unto the great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-Maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward, and they smite them, till he hath not left to them a remnant;

Y el Señor los entregó en manos de Israel, los derrotaron y los persiguieron hasta Sidón la grande, hasta Misrefot-maim y hasta el valle de Mizpa al oriente; los hirieron hasta que no les quedó sobreviviente alguno.

9 a nd Joshua doth to them as Jehovah said to him; their horses he hath houghed, and their chariots burnt with fire.

Y Josué hizo con ellos como el Señor le había mandado: desjarretó sus caballos y quemó sus carros a fuego.

10 A nd Joshua turneth back at that time, and captureth Hazor, and its king he hath smitten by the sword; for Hazor formerly head of all these kingdoms;

Por ese mismo tiempo Josué volvió y se apoderó de Hazor e hirió a espada a su rey; porque Hazor antes había sido cabeza de todos estos reinos.

11 a nd they smite every person who in it by the mouth of the sword; he hath devoted -- he hath not left any one breathing, and Hazor he hath burnt with fire;

E hirieron a filo de espada a todas las personas que había en ella, destruyéndo las por completo; no quedó nadie con vida, y a Hazor le prendió fuego.

12 a nd all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, hath Joshua captured, and he smiteth them by the mouth of the sword; he devoted them, as Moses, servant of Jehovah, commanded.

Y tomó Josué todas las ciudades de estos reyes, y a todos sus reyes los hirió a filo de espada y los destruyó por completo; tal como Moisés, siervo del Señor, había ordenado.

13 O nly, all the cities which are standing by their hill, Israel hath not burned them, save Hazor only, hath Joshua burnt;

Sin embargo, Israel no quemó ninguna de las ciudades que estaban sobre sus colinas, con la única excepción de Hazor, la cual Josué quemó.

14 a nd all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, have the sons of Israel spoiled for themselves; only, every human being they have smitten by the mouth of the sword, till their destroying them; they have not left any one breathing.

Y los hijos de Israel tomaron como botín todos los despojos de estas ciudades y el ganado; mas a los hombres hirieron a filo de espada hasta destruirlos. No dejaron a ninguno con vida.

15 A s Jehovah commanded Moses His servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so hath Joshua done; he hath not turned aside a thing of all that Jehovah commanded Moses.

Tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés su siervo, así Moisés lo ordenó a Josué, y así Josué lo hizo; no dejó de hacer nada de todo lo que el Señor había ordenado a Moisés. Josué toma posesión de toda la tierra

16 A nd Joshua taketh all this land: the hill-country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the low country, and the plain, even the hill-country of Israel and its low lands,

Tomó, pues, Josué toda aquella tierra: la región montañosa, todo el Neguev, toda la tierra de Gosén, las tierras bajas, el Arabá, la región montañosa de Israel y sus tierras bajas,

17 f rom the mount of Halak, which is going up Seir, and unto Baal-Gad, in the valley of Lebanon, under mount Hermon; and all their kings he hath captured, and he smiteth them, and putteth them to death.

desde el monte de Halac, que se levanta hacia Seir, hasta Baal-gad en el valle del Líbano, al pie del monte Hermón. Capturó a todos sus reyes, los hirió y los mató.

18 M any days hath Joshua made with all these kings war;

Por mucho tiempo Josué estuvo en guerra con todos estos reyes.

19 t here hath not been a city which made peace with the sons of Israel save the Hivite, inhabitants of Gibeon; the whole they have taken in battle;

No hubo ciudad que hiciera paz con los hijos de Israel, excepto los heveos que vivían en Gabaón; de todas se apoderaron por la fuerza.

20 f or from Jehovah it hath been to strengthen their heart, to meet in battle with Israel, in order to devote them, so that they have no grace, but in order to destroy them, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

Porque fue la intención del Señor endurecer el corazón de ellos, para que se enfrentaran en batalla con Israel, a fin de que fueran destruidos por completo, sin que tuviera piedad de ellos y los exterminara, tal como el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.

21 A nd Joshua cometh at that time, and cutteth off the Anakim from the hill-country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, even from all the hill-country of Judah, and from all the hill-country of Israel; with their cities hath Joshua devoted them.

Y por aquel tiempo Josué fue y destruyó a los anaceos de la región montañosa, de Hebrón, de Debir, de Anab, de toda la región montañosa de Judá y de toda la región montañosa de Israel. Josué los destruyó por completo con sus ciudades.

22 T here hath not been left Anakim in the land of the sons of Israel; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, were they left.

No quedaron anaceos en la tierra de los hijos de Israel; sólo quedaron algunos en Gaza, en Gat y en Asdod.

23 A nd Joshua taketh the whole of the land, according to all that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses, and Joshua giveth it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions, by their tribes; and the land hath rest from war.

Tomó, pues, Josué toda la tierra de acuerdo con todo lo que el Señor había dicho a Moisés. Y Josué la dio por heredad a Israel conforme a sus divisiones por sus tribus. Y la tierra descansó de la guerra.
