1 W herefore no longer forbearing, we thought good to be left in Athens alone,

Por lo cual, no pudiendo soportar lo más, pensamos que era mejor quedarnos solos en Atenas,

2 a nd did send Timotheus -- our brother, and a ministrant of God, and our fellow-workman in the good news of the Christ -- to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith,

y enviamos a Timoteo, nuestro hermano y colaborador de Dios en el evangelio de Cristo, para fortaleceros y alentaros respecto a vuestra fe;

3 t hat no one be moved in these tribulations, for yourselves have known that for this we are set,

a fin de que nadie se inquiete por causa de estas aflicciones, porque vosotros mismos sabéis que para esto hemos sido destinados.

4 f or even when we were with you, we said to you beforehand, that we are about to suffer tribulation, as also it did come to pass, and ye have known;

Porque en verdad, cuando estábamos con vosotros os predecíamos que íbamos a sufrir aflicción, y así ha acontecido, como sabéis.

5 b ecause of this also, I, no longer forbearing, did send to know your faith, lest he who is tempting did tempt you, and in vain might be our labour.

Por eso también yo, cuando ya no pude soportar más, envié para informarme de vuestra fe, por temor a que el tentador os hubiera tentado y que nuestro trabajo resultara en vano.

6 A nd now Timotheus having come unto us from you, and having declared good news to us of your faith and love, and that ye have a good remembrance of us always, desiring much to see us, as we also you,

Pero ahora Timoteo ha regresado de vosotros a nosotros, y nos ha traído buenas noticias de vuestra fe y amor y de que siempre tenéis buen recuerdo de nosotros, añorando vernos, como también nosotros a vosotros;

7 b ecause of this we were comforted, brethren, over you, in all our tribulation and necessity, through your faith,

por eso, hermanos, en toda nuestra necesidad y aflicción fuimos consolados respecto a vosotros por medio de vuestra fe;

8 b ecause now we live, if ye may stand fast in the Lord;

porque ahora sí que vivimos, si vosotros estáis firmes en el Señor.

9 f or what thanks are we able to recompense to God for you, for all the joy with which we do joy because of you in the presence of our God?

Pues ¿qué acción de gracias podemos dar a Dios por vosotros, por todo el gozo con que nos regocijamos delante de nuestro Dios a causa de vosotros,

10 n ight and day exceedingly beseeching, that we might see your face, and perfect the things lacking in your faith.

según oramos intensamente de noche y de día que podamos ver vuestro rostro y que completemos lo que falta a vuestra fe? Exhortación a la santidad

11 A nd our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you,

Ahora, pues, que el mismo Dios y Padre nuestro, y Jesús nuestro Señor, dirijan nuestro camino a vosotros;

12 a nd you the Lord cause to increase and to abound in the love to one another, and to all, even as we also to you,

y que el Señor os haga crecer y abundar en amor unos para con otros, y para con todos, como también nosotros lo hacemos para con vosotros;

13 t o the establishing your hearts blameless in sanctification before our God and Father, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

a fin de que El afirme vuestros corazones irreprensibles en santidad delante de nuestro Dios y Padre, en la venida de nuestro Señor Jesús con todos sus santos.
