1 G ive ye thanks to Jehovah -- call ye in His name, Make known among the peoples His acts.

2 S ing ye to Him -- sing praise to Him, Meditate ye on all His wonders.

Cantadle, cantadle alabanzas; hablad de todas sus maravillas.

3 B oast yourselves in His Holy Name, The heart of those seeking Jehovah rejoiceth.

Gloriaos en su santo nombre; alégrese el corazón de los que buscan al Señor.

4 S eek ye Jehovah and His strength, Seek ye His face continually.

Buscad al Señor y su fortaleza; buscad su rostro continuamente.

5 R emember His wonders that He did, His signs and the judgments of His mouth.

Recordad las maravillas que El ha hecho, sus prodigios y los juicios de su boca,

6 O seed of Abraham, His servant, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.

oh simiente de Abraham, su siervo, hijos de Jacob, sus escogidos.

7 H e Jehovah our God, In all the earth His judgments.

El es el Señor nuestro Dios; sus juicios están en toda la tierra.

8 H e hath remembered to the age His covenant, The word He commanded to a thousand generations,

Para siempre se ha acordado de su pacto, de la palabra que ordenó a mil generaciones,

9 T hat He hath made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac,

del pacto que hizo con Abraham, y de su juramento a Isaac.

10 A nd doth establish it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel -- a covenant age-during,

También lo confirmó a Jacob por estatuto, a Israel como pacto eterno,

11 S aying, `To thee I give the land of Canaan, The portion of your inheritance,'

diciendo: A ti te daré la tierra de Canaán como porción de vuestra heredad.

12 I n their being few in number, But a few, and sojourners in it.

Cuando eran pocos en número, muy pocos, y forasteros en ella,

13 A nd they go up and down, from nation unto nation, From a kingdom unto another people.

y vagaban de nación en nación, y de un reino a otro pueblo,

14 H e hath not suffered any to oppress them And He reproveth for their sakes kings.

El no permitió que nadie los oprimiera, y por amor a ellos reprendió a reyes, diciendo:

15 ` Strike not against Mine anointed, And to My prophets do not evil.'

No toquéis a mis ungidos, ni hagáis mal a mis profetas.

16 A nd He calleth a famine on the land, The whole staff of bread He hath broken.

Y llamó al hambre sobre la tierra, quebró todo sustento de pan.

17 H e hath sent before them a man, For a servant hath Joseph been sold.

Envió a un hombre delante de ellos, a José, vendido como esclavo.

18 T hey have afflicted with fetters his feet, Iron hath entered his soul,

Con grillos afligieron sus pies, él mismo fue puesto en cadenas,

19 T ill the time of the coming of His word The saying of Jehovah hath tried him.

hasta que su predicción se cumplió; la palabra del Señor lo puso a prueba.

20 T he king hath sent, and looseth him, The ruler of the peoples, and draweth him out.

El rey envió, y lo soltó, el soberano de los pueblos, lo puso en libertad.

21 H e hath made him lord of his house, And ruler over all his possessions.

Lo puso por señor de su casa, y administrador sobre todos sus bienes,

22 T o bind his chiefs at his pleasure, And his elders he maketh wise.

para que encarcelara a sus príncipes a voluntad suya, y a sus ancianos enseñara sabiduría.

23 A nd Israel cometh in to Egypt, And Jacob hath sojourned in the land of Ham.

También Israel entró en Egipto, así peregrinó Jacob en la tierra de Cam.

24 A nd He maketh His people very fruitful, And maketh it mightier than its adversaries.

E hizo que su pueblo se multiplicara mucho, y los hizo más fuertes que sus adversarios.

25 H e turned their heart to hate His people, To conspire against His servants.

Cambió el corazón de éstos para que odiaran a su pueblo, para que obraran astutamente contra sus siervos.

26 H e hath sent Moses His servant, Aaron whom He had fixed on.

Envió a Moisés su siervo, y a Aarón a quien había escogido.

27 T hey have set among them the matters of His signs, And wonders in the land of Ham.

Estos hicieron las maravillas de Dios entre ellos, y prodigios en la tierra de Cam.

28 H e hath sent darkness, and it is dark, And they have not provoked His word.

Mandó tinieblas e hizo que se oscureciera, pero ellos no prestaron atención a sus palabras.

29 H e hath turned their waters to blood, And putteth to death their fish.

Convirtió sus aguas en sangre, e hizo morir sus peces.

30 T eemed hath their land frogs, In the inner chambers of their kings.

Pululó su tierra de ranas hasta en las alcobas de sus reyes.

31 H e hath said, and the beetle cometh, Lice into all their border.

El habló, y vinieron enjambres de moscas y mosquitos por todo su territorio.

32 H e hath made their showers hail, A flaming fire in their land.

Les dio granizo por lluvia, y llamas de fuego en su tierra.

33 A nd He smiteth their vine and their fig, And shivereth the trees of their border.

Devastó también sus vides y sus higueras, y destrozó los árboles de sus territorios.

34 H e hath said, and the locust cometh, And the cankerworm -- innumerable,

El habló, y vinieron langostas, y orugas sin número;

35 A nd it consumeth every herb in their land, And it consumeth the fruit of their ground.

que devoraron toda la vegetación de su país, y se comieron el fruto de su suelo.

36 A nd He smiteth every first-born in their land, The first-fruit of all their strength,

También hirió de muerte a todo primogénito de su tierra; las primicias de todo su vigor.

37 A nd bringeth them out with silver and gold, And there is not in its tribes a feeble one.

Pero a ellos los sacó con plata y oro, y entre sus tribus no hubo quien tropezara.

38 R ejoiced hath Egypt in their going forth, For their fear had fallen upon them.

Egipto se alegró cuando se fueron, porque su terror había caído sobre ellos.

39 H e hath spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to enlighten the night.

Extendió una nube para cubrirlos, y fuego para iluminar los de noche.

40 T hey have asked, and He bringeth quails, And bread of heaven satisfieth them.

Pidieron, y les mandó codornices, y los sació de pan del cielo.

41 H e hath opened a rock, and waters issue, They have gone on in dry places -- a river.

Abrió la roca, y brotaron las aguas; corrieron como un río en tierra seca.

42 F or He hath remembered His holy word, With Abraham His servant,

Porque se acordó de su santa palabra dada a Abraham su siervo,

43 A nd He bringeth forth His people with joy, With singing His chosen ones.

y sacó a su pueblo con alegría, y a sus escogidos con gritos de júbilo.

44 A nd He giveth to them the lands of nations, And the labour of peoples they possess,

También les dio las tierras de las naciones, y poseyeron el fruto del trabajo de los pueblos,

45 T hat they may observe His statutes, And His laws may keep. Praise ye Jehovah!

a fin de que guardaran sus estatutos, y observaran sus leyes. ¡Aleluya!
