1 A nd again he began to teach by the sea, and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he, having gone into the boat, sat in the sea, and all the multitude was near the sea, on the land,

Comenzó a enseñar de nuevo junto al mar; y se llegó a El una multitud tan grande que tuvo que subirse a una barca que estaba en el mar, y se sentó; y toda la multitud estaba en tierra a la orilla del mar.

2 a nd he taught them many things in similes, and he said to them in his teaching:

Les enseñaba muchas cosas en parábolas; y les decía en su enseñanza:

3 ` Hearken, lo, the sower went forth to sow;

¡Oíd! He aquí, el sembrador salió a sembrar;

4 a nd it came to pass, in the sowing, some fell by the way, and the fowls of the heaven did come and devour it;

y aconteció que al sembrar, una parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino, y vinieron las aves y se la comieron.

5 a nd other fell upon the rocky ground, where it had not much earth, and immediately it sprang forth, because of not having depth of earth,

Otra parte cayó en un pedregal donde no tenía mucha tierra; y enseguida brotó por no tener profundidad de tierra.

6 a nd the sun having risen, it was scorched, and because of not having root it did wither;

Pero cuando salió el sol, se quemó; y por no tener raíz, se secó.

7 a nd other fell toward the thorns, and the thorns did come up, and choke it, and fruit it gave not;

Otra parte cayó entre espinos, y los espinos crecieron y la ahogaron, y no dio fruto.

8 a nd other fell to the good ground, and was giving fruit, coming up and increasing, and it bare, one thirty-fold, and one sixty, and one an hundred.'

Y otras semillas cayeron en buena tierra, y creciendo y desarrollándose, dieron fruto, y produjeron unas a treinta, otras a sesenta y otras a ciento por uno.

9 A nd he said to them, `He who is having ears to hear -- let him hear.'

Y El decía: El que tiene oídos para oír, que oiga. Explicación de la parábola

10 A nd when he was alone, those about him, with the twelve, did ask him of the simile,

Cuando se quedó solo, sus seguidores junto con los doce, le preguntaban sobre las parábolas.

11 a nd he said to them, `To you it hath been given to know the secret of the reign of God, but to those who are without, in similes are all the things done;

Y les decía: A vosotros os ha sido dado el misterio del reino de Dios, pero los que están afuera reciben todo en parábolas;

12 t hat seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand, lest they may turn, and the sins may be forgiven them.'

para que viendo vean pero no perciban, y oyendo oigan pero no entiendan, no sea que se conviertan y sean perdonados.

13 A nd he saith to them, `Have ye not known this simile? and how shall ye know all the similes?

Y les dijo: ¿No entendéis esta parábola? ¿Cómo, pues, comprenderéis todas las parábolas?

14 H e who is sowing doth sow the word;

El sembrador siembra la palabra.

15 a nd these are they by the way where the word is sown: and whenever they may hear, immediately cometh the Adversary, and he taketh away the word that hath been sown in their hearts.

Y éstos que están junto al camino donde se siembra la palabra, son aquellos que en cuanto la oyen, al instante viene Satanás y se lleva la palabra que se ha sembrado en ellos.

16 ` And these are they, in like manner, who on the rocky ground are sown: who, whenever they may hear the word, immediately with joy do receive it,

Y de igual manera, estos en que se sembró la semilla en pedregales son los que al oír la palabra enseguida la reciben con gozo;

17 a nd have not root in themselves, but are temporary; afterward tribulation or persecution having come because of the word, immediately they are stumbled.

pero no tienen raíz profunda en sí mismos, sino que sólo son temporales. Entonces, cuando viene la aflicción o la persecución por causa de la palabra, enseguida tropiezan y caen.

18 ` And these are they who toward the thorns are sown: these are they who are hearing the word,

Otros son aquellos en los que se sembró la semilla entre los espinos; éstos son los que han oído la palabra,

19 a nd the anxieties of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, and the desires concerning the other things, entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

pero las preocupaciones del mundo, y el engaño de las riquezas, y los deseos de las demás cosas entran y ahogan la palabra, y se vuelve estéril.

20 ` And these are they who on the good ground have been sown: who do hear the word, and receive, and do bear fruit, one thirty-fold, and one sixty, and one an hundred.'

Y otros son aquellos en que se sembró la semilla en tierra buena; los cuales oyen la palabra, la aceptan y dan fruto, unos a treinta, otros a sesenta y otros a ciento por uno.

21 A nd he said to them, `Doth the lamp come that under the measure it may be put, or under the couch -- not that it may be put on the lamp-stand?

Y les decía: ¿Acaso se trae una lámpara para ponerla debajo de un almud o debajo de la cama? ¿No es para ponerla en el candelero ?

22 f or there is not anything hid that may not be manifested, nor was anything kept hid but that it may come to light.

Porque nada hay oculto, si no es para que sea manifestado; ni nada ha estado en secreto, sino para que salga a la luz.

23 I f any hath ears to hear -- let him hear.'

Si alguno tiene oídos para oír, que oiga.

24 A nd he said to them, `Take heed what ye hear; in what measure ye measure, it shall be measured to you; and to you who hear it shall be added;

También les decía: Cuidaos de lo que oís. Con la medida con que midáis, se os medirá, y aun más se os dará.

25 f or whoever may have, there shall be given to him, and whoever hath not, also that which he hath shall be taken from him.'

Porque al que tiene, se le dará más, pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará. Parábola del crecimiento de la semilla

26 A nd he said, `Thus is the reign of God: as if a man may cast the seed on the earth,

Decía también: El reino de Dios es como un hombre que echa semilla en la tierra,

27 a nd may sleep, and may rise night and day, and the seed spring up and grow, he hath not known how;

y se acuesta y se levanta, de noche y de día, y la semilla brota y crece; cómo, él no lo sabe.

28 f or of itself doth the earth bear fruit, first a blade, afterwards an ear, afterwards full corn in the ear;

La tierra produce fruto por sí misma; primero la hoja, luego la espiga, y después el grano maduro en la espiga.

29 a nd whenever the fruit may yield itself, immediately he doth send forth the sickle, because the harvest hath come.'

Y cuando el fruto lo permite, él enseguida mete la hoz, porque ha llegado el tiempo de la siega. Parábola del grano de mostaza

30 A nd he said, `To what may we liken the reign of God, or in what simile may we compare it?

También decía: ¿A qué compararemos el reino de Dios, o con qué parábola lo describiremos?

31 A s a grain of mustard, which, whenever it may be sown on the earth, is less than any of the seeds that are on the earth;

Es como un grano de mostaza, el cual, cuando se siembra en la tierra, aunque es más pequeño que todas las semillas que hay en la tierra,

32 a nd whenever it may be sown, it cometh up, and doth become greater than any of the herbs, and doth make great branches, so that under its shade the fowls of the heaven are able to rest.'

sin embargo, cuando es sembrado, crece y llega a ser más grande que todas las hortalizas y echa grandes ramas, tanto que las aves del cielo pueden anidar bajo su sombra.

33 A nd with many such similes he was speaking to them the word, as they were able to hear,

Con muchas parábolas como éstas les hablaba la palabra, según podían oír la;

34 a nd without a simile he was not speaking to them, and by themselves, to his disciples he was expounding all.

y sin parábolas no les hablaba, sino que lo explicaba todo en privado a sus propios discípulos. Jesús calma la tempestad

35 A nd he saith to them on that day, evening having come, `We may pass over to the other side;'

Ese día, caída ya la tarde, les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado.

36 a nd having let away the multitude, they take him up as he was in the boat, and other little boats also were with him.

Despidiendo a la multitud, le llevaron con ellos en la barca, como estaba; y había otras barcas con El.

37 A nd there cometh a great storm of wind, and the waves were beating on the boat, so that it is now being filled,

Pero se levantó una violenta tempestad, y las olas se lanzaban sobre la barca de tal manera que ya se anegaba la barca.

38 a nd he himself was upon the stern, upon the pillow sleeping, and they wake him up, and say to him, `Teacher, art thou not caring that we perish?'

El estaba en la popa, durmiendo sobre un cabezal; entonces le despertaron y le dijeron: Maestro, ¿no te importa que perezcamos?

39 A nd having waked up, he rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, `Peace, be stilled;' and the wind did lull, and there was a great calm:

Y levantándose, reprendió al viento, y dijo al mar: ¡Cálmate, sosiégate! Y el viento cesó, y sobrevino una gran calma.

40 a nd he said to them, `Why are ye so fearful? how have ye not faith?'

Entonces les dijo: ¿Por qué estáis amedrentados? ¿Cómo no tenéis fe ?

41 a nd they feared a great fear, and said one to another, `Who, then, is this, that even the wind and the sea do obey him?'

Y se llenaron de gran temor, y se decían unos a otros: ¿Quién, pues, es éste que aun el viento y el mar le obedecen?
