1 A nd a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

Pero cierto hombre llamado Ananías, con Safira su mujer, vendió una propiedad,

2 a nd did keep back of the price -- his wife also knowing -- and having brought a certain part, at the feet of the apostles he laid.

y se quedó con parte del precio, sabiéndolo también su mujer; y trayendo la otra parte, la puso a los pies de los apóstoles.

3 A nd Peter said, `Ananias, wherefore did the Adversary fill thy heart, for thee to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back of the price of the place?

Mas Pedro dijo: Ananías, ¿por qué ha llenado Satanás tu corazón para mentir al Espíritu Santo, y quedarte con parte del precio del terreno?

4 w hile it remained, did it not remain thine? and having been sold, in thy authority was it not? why it that thou didst put in thy heart this thing? thou didst not lie to men, but to God;'

Mientras estaba sin venderse, ¿no te pertenecía? Y después de vendida, ¿no estaba bajo tu poder? ¿Por qué concebiste este asunto en tu corazón? No has mentido a los hombres sino a Dios.

5 a nd Ananias hearing these words, having fallen down, did expire, and great fear came upon all who heard these things,

Al oír Ananías estas palabras, cayó y expiró; y vino un gran temor sobre todos los que lo supieron.

6 a nd having risen, the younger men wound him up, and having carried forth, they buried.

Y los jóvenes se levantaron y lo cubrieron, y sacándo lo, le dieron sepultura.

7 A nd it came to pass, about three hours after, that his wife, not knowing what hath happened, came in,

Después de un lapso como de tres horas entró su mujer, no sabiendo lo que había sucedido.

8 a nd Peter answered her, `Tell me if for so much ye sold the place;' and she said, `Yes, for so much.'

Y Pedro le preguntó: Dime, ¿vendisteis el terreno en tanto? Y ella dijo: Sí, ése fue el precio.

9 A nd Peter said unto her, `How was it agreed by you, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? lo, the feet of those who did bury thy husband at the door, and they shall carry thee forth;'

Entonces Pedro le dijo: ¿Por qué os pusisteis de acuerdo para poner a prueba al Espíritu del Señor ? Mira, los pies de los que sepultaron a tu marido están a la puerta, y te sacarán también a ti.

10 a nd she fell down presently at his feet, and expired, and the young men having come in, found her dead, and having carried forth, they buried by her husband;

Al instante ella cayó a los pies de él, y expiró. Al entrar los jóvenes, la hallaron muerta, y la sacaron y le dieron sepultura junto a su marido.

11 a nd great fear came upon all the assembly, and upon all who heard these things.

Y vino un gran temor sobre toda la iglesia, y sobre todos los que supieron estas cosas. Muchas señales y prodigios

12 A nd through the hands of the apostles came many signs and wonders among the people, and they were with one accord all in the porch of Solomon;

Por mano de los apóstoles se realizaban muchas señales y prodigios entre el pueblo; y estaban todos unánimes en el pórtico de Salomón.

13 a nd of the rest no one was daring to join himself to them, but the people were magnifying them,

Pero ninguno de los demás se atrevía a juntarse con ellos; sin embargo, el pueblo los tenía en gran estima.

14 ( and the more were believers added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women,)

Y más y más creyentes en el Señor, multitud de hombres y de mujeres, se añadían constantemente al número de ellos,

15 s o as into the broad places to bring forth the ailing, and to lay upon couches and mats, that at the coming of Peter, even shadow might overshadow some one of them;

a tal punto que aun sacaban los enfermos a las calles y los tendían en lechos y camillas, para que al pasar Pedro, siquiera su sombra cayera sobre alguno de ellos.

16 a nd there were coming together also the people of the cities round about to Jerusalem, bearing ailing persons, and those harassed by unclean spirits -- who were all healed.

También la gente de las ciudades en los alrededores de Jerusalén acudía trayendo enfermos y atormentados por espíritus inmundos, y todos eran sanados. En la cárcel y libres otra vez

17 A nd having risen, the chief priest, and all those with him -- being the sect of the Sadducees -- were filled with zeal,

Pero levantándose el sumo sacerdote, y todos los que estaban con él (es decir, la secta de los saduceos ), se llenaron de celo,

18 a nd laid their hands upon the apostles, and did put them in a public prison;

y echaron mano a los apóstoles y los pusieron en una cárcel pública.

19 a nd a messenger of the Lord through the night opened the doors of the prison, having also brought them forth, he said,

Pero un ángel del Señor, durante la noche, abrió las puertas de la cárcel, y sacándolos, dijo:

20 ` Go on, and standing, speak in the temple to the people all the sayings of this life;'

Id, y puestos de pie en el templo, hablad al pueblo todo el mensaje de esta Vida.

21 a nd having heard, they did enter at the dawn into the temple, and were teaching. And the chief priest having come, and those with him, they called together the sanhedrim and all the senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have them brought,

Habiendo oído esto, entraron al amanecer en el templo y enseñaban. Cuando llegaron el sumo sacerdote y los que estaban con él, convocaron al concilio, es decir, a todo el senado de los hijos de Israel, y enviaron órdenes a la cárcel para que los trajeran.

22 a nd the officers having come, did not find them in the prison, and having turned back, they told,

Pero los alguaciles que fueron no los encontraron en la cárcel; volvieron, pues, e informaron,

23 s aying -- `The prison indeed we found shut in all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors, and having opened -- within we found no one.'

diciendo: Encontramos la cárcel cerrada con toda seguridad y los guardias de pie a las puertas; pero cuando abrimos, a nadie hallamos dentro.

24 A nd as the priest, and the magistrate of the temple, and the chief priests, heard these words, they were doubting concerning them to what this would come;

Cuando oyeron estas palabras, el capitán de la guardia del templo y los principales sacerdotes se quedaron muy perplejos a causa de ellos, pensando en qué terminaría aquello.

25 a nd coming near, a certain one told them, saying -- `Lo, the men whom ye did put in the prison are in the temple standing and teaching the people;'

Pero alguien se presentó y les informó: Mirad, los hombres que pusisteis en la cárcel están en el templo enseñando al pueblo.

26 t hen the magistrate having gone away with officers, brought them without violence, for they were fearing the people, lest they should be stoned;

Entonces el capitán fue con los alguaciles y los trajo sin violencia (porque temían al pueblo, no fuera que los apedrearan).

27 a nd having brought them, they set in the sanhedrim, and the chief priest questioned them,

Cuando los trajeron, los pusieron ante el concilio, y el sumo sacerdote los interrogó,

28 s aying, `Did not we strictly command you not to teach in this name? and lo, ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and ye intend to bring upon us the blood of this man.'

diciendo: Os dimos órdenes estrictas de no continuar enseñando en este nombre, y he aquí, habéis llenado a Jerusalén con vuestras enseñanzas, y queréis traer sobre nosotros la sangre de este hombre.

29 A nd Peter and the apostles answering, said, `To obey God it behoveth, rather than men;

Mas respondiendo Pedro y los apóstoles, dijeron: Debemos obedecer a Dios antes que a los hombres.

30 a nd the God of our fathers did raise up Jesus, whom ye slew, having hanged upon a tree;

El Dios de nuestros padres resucitó a Jesús, a quien vosotros habíais matado colgándole en una cruz.

31 t his one God, a Prince and a Saviour, hath exalted with His right hand, to give reformation to Israel, and forgiveness of sins;

A éste Dios exaltó a su diestra como Príncipe y Salvador, para dar arrepentimiento a Israel, y perdón de pecados.

32 a nd we are His witnesses of these sayings, and the Holy Spirit also, whom God gave to those obeying him.'

Y nosotros somos testigos de estas cosas; y también el Espíritu Santo, el cual Dios ha dado a los que le obedecen. El consejo de Gamaliel

33 A nd they having heard, were cut, and were taking counsel to slay them,

Cuando ellos oyeron esto, se sintieron profundamente ofendidos y querían matarlos.

34 b ut a certain one, having risen up in the sanhedrim -- a Pharisee, by name Gamaliel, a teacher of law honoured by all the people -- commanded to put the apostles forth a little,

Pero cierto fariseo llamado Gamaliel, maestro de la ley, respetado por todo el pueblo, se levantó en el concilio y ordenó que sacaran fuera a los hombres por un momento.

35 a nd said unto them, `Men, Israelites, take heed to yourselves about these men, what ye are about to do,

Y les dijo: Varones de Israel, tened cuidado de lo que vais a hacer con estos hombres.

36 f or before these days rose up Theudas, saying, that himself was some one, to whom a number of men did join themselves, as it were four hundred, who was slain, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered, and came to nought.

Porque hace algún tiempo Teudas se levantó pretendiendo ser alguien; y un grupo como de cuatrocientos hombres se unió a él. Y fue muerto, y todos los que lo seguían fueron dispersos y reducidos a nada.

37 ` After this one rose up, Judas the Galilean, in the days of the enrollment, and drew away much people after him, and that one perished, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered;

Después de él, se levantó Judas de Galilea en los días del censo, y llevó mucha gente tras sí; él también pereció, y todos los que lo seguían se dispersaron.

38 a nd now I say to you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone, because if this counsel or this work may be of men, it will be overthrown,

Por tanto, en este caso os digo: no tengáis nada que ver con estos hombres y dejadlos en paz, porque si este plan o acción es de los hombres, perecerá;

39 a nd if it be of God, ye are not able to overthrow it, lest perhaps also ye be found fighting against God.'

pero si es de Dios, no podréis destruirlos; no sea que os halléis luchando contra Dios.

40 A nd to him they agreed, and having called near the apostles, having beaten, they commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go;

Ellos aceptaron su consejo, y después de llamar a los apóstoles, los azotaron y les ordenaron que no hablaran en el nombre de Jesús y los soltaron.

41 t hey, indeed, then, departed from the presence of the sanhedrim, rejoicing that for his name they were counted worthy to suffer dishonour,

Ellos, pues, salieron de la presencia del concilio, regocijándose de que hubieran sido tenidos por dignos de padecer afrenta por su Nombre.

42 e very day also in the temple, and in every house, they were not ceasing teaching and proclaiming good news -- Jesus the Christ.

Y todos los días, en el templo y de casa en casa, no cesaban de enseñar y predicar a Jesús como el Cristo.
