1 C oncerning the sons of Ammon: `Thus said Jehovah: Sons -- hath Israel none? heir -- hath he none? Wherefore hath Malcam possessed Gad? And his people in its cities have dwelt?

Acerca dos amonitas: Assim diz o Senhor: “Por acaso Israel não tem filhos? Será que não tem herdeiros? Por que será então que Moloque se apossou de Gade? Por que seu povo vive nas cidades de Gade?

2 T herefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I have sounded unto Rabbah of the sons of Ammon a shout of battle, And it hath been for a heap -- a desolation, And her daughters with fire are burnt, And Israel hath succeeded its heirs, Said hath Jehovah.

Portanto, certamente vêm os dias”, declara o Senhor, “em que farei soar o grito de guerra contra Rabá dos amonitas; ela virá a ser uma pilha de ruínas, e os seus povoados ao redor serão incendiados. Então Israel expulsará aqueles que o expulsaram”, diz o Senhor.

3 H owl, Heshbon, for spoiled is Ai, Cry, daughters of Rabbah, gird on sackcloth, Lament, and go to and fro by the hedges, For Malcam into captivity doth go, His priests and his princes together.

“Lamente-se, ó Hesbom, pois Ai está destruída! Gritem, ó moradores de Rabá! Ponham veste de lamento e chorem! Corram para onde der, pois Moloque irá para o exílio com os seus sacerdotes e os seus oficiais.

4 W hat -- dost thou boast thyself in valleys? Flowed hath thy valley, O backsliding daughter, Who is trusting in her treasures: Who doth come in unto me?

Por que você se orgulha de seus vales? Por que se orgulha de seus vales tão frutíferos? Ó filha infiel! Você confia em suas riquezas e diz: ‘Quem me atacará?’

5 L o, I am bringing in upon thee a fear, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah of Hosts, From all round about thee, And ye have been driven out each before it, And there is no gatherer of the wandering.

Farei com que você tenha pavor de tudo o que está a sua volta”, diz o Senhor, o Senhor dos Exércitos. “Vocês serão dispersos, cada um numa direção, e ninguém conseguirá reunir os fugitivos.

6 A nd after this I turn back the captivity of the sons of Ammon, An affirmation of Jehovah.'

“Contudo, depois disso, restaurarei a sorte dos amonitas”, declara o Senhor. Mensagem acerca de Edom

7 C oncerning Edom: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? Perished hath counsel from the intelligent? Vanished hath their wisdom?

Acerca de Edom: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: “Será que já não há mais sabedoria em Temã? Será que o conselho desapareceu dos prudentes? A sabedoria deles deteriorou-se?

8 F lee, turn, go deep to dwell, ye inhabitants of Dedan, For the calamity of Esau I brought in upon him, The time I inspected him.

Voltem-se e fujam, escondam-se em cavernas profundas, vocês que moram em Dedã, pois trarei a ruína sobre Esaú na hora em que eu o castigar.

9 I f gatherers have come in to thee, They do not leave gleanings, If thieves in the night, They have destroyed their sufficiency!

Se os que colhem uvas viessem até você, não deixariam eles apenas umas poucas uvas? Se os ladrões viessem durante a noite, não roubariam apenas o quanto desejassem?

10 F or I -- I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, And to be hidden he is not able, Spoiled his seed, and his brethren, And his neighbours, and he is not.

Mas eu despi Esaú e descobri os seus esconderijos, para que ele não mais se esconda. Os seus filhos, parentes e vizinhos foram destruídos. Ninguém restou para dizer:

11 L eave thine orphans -- I do keep alive, And thy widows -- on Me trust ye,

‘Deixe os seus órfãos; eu protegerei a vida deles. As suas viúvas também podem confiar em mim’”.

12 F or thus said Jehovah: They whose judgment is not to drink of the cup, Do certainly drink, And thou he that is entirely acquitted! Thou art not acquitted, for thou certainly drinkest.

Assim diz o Senhor: “Se aqueles para quem o cálice não estava reservado tiveram que bebê-lo, por que você deveria ficar impune? Você não ficará sem castigo, mas irá bebê-lo.

13 F or, by Myself, I have sworn, An affirmation of Jehovah, That for a desolation, for a reproach, For a waste, and for a reviling -- is Bozrah, And all her cities are for wastes age-during.

Eu juro por mim mesmo”, declara o Senhor, “que Bozra ficará em ruínas e desolada; ela se tornará objeto de afronta e de maldição, e todas as suas cidades serão ruínas para sempre”.

14 A report I have heard from Jehovah, And an ambassador among nations is sent, Gather yourselves and come in against her, And rise ye for battle.

Ouvi uma mensagem da parte do Senhor; um mensageiro foi mandado às nações para dizer: “Reúnam-se para atacar Edom! Preparem-se para a batalha!”

15 F or, lo, little I have made thee among nations, Despised among men.

“Agora eu faço de você uma nação pequena entre as demais, desprezada pelos homens.

16 T hy terribleness hath lifted thee up, The pride of thy heart, O dweller in clefts of the rock, Holding the high place of the height, For thou makest high as an eagle thy nest, From thence I bring thee down, An affirmation of Jehovah.

O pavor que você inspira e o orgulho de seu coração o enganaram, a você, que vive nas fendas das rochas, que ocupa os altos das colinas. Ainda que você, como a águia, faça o seu ninho nas alturas, de lá eu o derrubarei”, declara o Senhor.

17 A nd Edom hath been for a desolation, Every passer by her is astonished, And doth hiss because of all her plagues.

“Edom se tornará objeto de terror; todos os que por ali passarem ficarão chocados e zombarão por causa de todas as suas feridas.

18 A s the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, And its neighbours, said Jehovah, No one doth dwell there, Nor sojourn in her doth a son of man.

Como foi com a destruição de Sodoma e Gomorra, e das cidades vizinhas”, diz o Senhor, “ninguém mais habitará ali, nenhum homem residirá nela.

19 L o, as a lion he cometh up, Because of the rising of the Jordan, Unto the enduring habitation, But I cause to rest, I cause him to run from off her, And who is chosen? concerning her I lay a charge, For who is like Me? and who conveneth Me? And who this shepherd who standeth before Me?

“Como um leão que sobe da mata do Jordão em direção aos pastos verdejantes, subitamente eu caçarei Edom pondo-o fora de sua terra. Quem é o escolhido que designarei para isso? Quem é como eu que possa me desafiar? E que pastor pode me resistir ?”

20 T herefore, hear ye the counsel of Jehovah, That He hath counselled concerning Edom, And His devices that He hath devised Concerning the inhabitants of Teman: Drag them out do not little ones of the flock, Make desolate over them doth he not their habitation?

Por isso, ouçam o que o Senhor planejou contra Edom, o que preparou contra os habitantes de Temã: Os menores do rebanho serão arrastados, e as pastagens ficarão devastadas por causa deles.

21 F rom the noise of their fall hath the earth shaken, The cry -- at the sea of Suph is its voice heard.

Ao som de sua queda a terra tremerá; o grito deles ressoará até o mar Vermelho.

22 L o, as an eagle he cometh up, and flieth, And he spreadeth his wings over Bozrah, And the heart of the mighty of Edom hath been in that day, As the heart of a distressed woman!'

Vejam! Uma águia, subindo e planando, estende as asas sobre Bozra. Naquele dia, a coragem dos guerreiros de Edom será como a de uma mulher que está dando à luz. Mensagem acerca de Damasco

23 C oncerning Damascus: Ashamed hath been Hamath and Arpad, For an evil report they have heard, They have been melted, in the sea sorrow, To be quiet it is not able.

Acerca de Damasco: “Hamate e Arpade estão atônitas, pois ouviram más notícias. Estão desencorajadas, perturbadas como o mar agitado.

24 F eeble hath been Damascus, She turned to flee, and fear strengthened her, Distress and pangs have seized her, as a travailing woman.

Damasco tornou-se frágil, ela se virou para fugir, e o pânico tomou conta dela; angústia e dor dela se apoderaram, dor como a de uma mulher em trabalho de parto.

25 H ow is it not left -- the city of praise, The city of my joy!

Como está abandonada a cidade famosa, a cidade da alegria!

26 T herefore fall do her young men in her broad places, And all the men of war are cut off in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

Por isso, os seus jovens cairão nas ruas e todos os seus guerreiros se calarão naquele dia”, declara o Senhor dos Exércitos.

27 A nd I have kindled a fire against the wall of Damascus, And it consumed palaces of Ben-Hadad!'

“Porei fogo nas muralhas de Damasco, que consumirá as fortalezas de Ben-Hadade”. Mensagem acerca de Quedar e de Hazor

28 C oncerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath smitten: `Thus said Jehovah: Arise ye, go ye up unto Kedar, And spoil the sons of the east.

Acerca de Quedar e os reinos de Hazor, que Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, derrotou: Assim diz o Senhor: “Preparem-se, ataquem Quedar e destruam o povo do oriente.

29 T heir tents and their flock they do take, Their curtains, and all their vessels, And their camels, they bear away for themselves, And they called concerning them, Fear round about.

Tomem suas tendas e seus rebanhos, suas cortinas com todos os seus utensílios e camelos. Gritem contra eles: ‘Há terror por todos os lados!’

30 F lee, bemoan mightily, go deep to dwell, Ye inhabitants of Hazor -- an affirmation of Jehovah, For given counsel against you hath Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Yea, he deviseth against them a device.

“Fujam rapidamente! Escondam-se em cavernas profundas, vocês habitantes de Hazor”, diz o Senhor. “Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, fez planos e projetos contra vocês.

31 R ise ye, go up unto a nation at rest, Dwelling confidently, an affirmation of Jehovah, It hath no two-leaved doors nor bar, Alone they do dwell.

“Preparem-se e ataquem uma nação que vive tranqüila e confiante”, declara o Senhor, “uma nação que não tem portas nem trancas, e que vive sozinha.

32 A nd their camels have been for a prey, And the multitude of their cattle for a spoil, And I have scattered them to every wind, Who cut off the corner, And from all its passages I bring in their calamity, An affirmation of Jehovah.

Seus camelos se tornarão despojo e suas grandes manadas, espólio. Espalharei ao vento aqueles que rapam a cabeça, e de todos os lados trarei a sua ruína”, declara o Senhor.

33 A nd Hazor hath been for a habitation of dragons, A desolation -- unto the age, No one doth dwell there, nor sojourn in it doth a son of man!'

“Hazor se tornará uma habitação de chacais, uma ruína para sempre. Ninguém mais habitará ali, nenhum homem residirá nela.” Mensagem acerca de Elão

34 T hat which hath been the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying:

Esta é a palavra do Senhor que veio ao profeta Jeremias acerca de Elão, no início do reinado de Zedequias, rei de Judá:

35 ` Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Lo, I am breaking the bow of Elam, The beginning of their might.

Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: “Vejam, quebrarei o arco de Elão, a base de seu poder.

36 A nd I have brought in to Elam four winds, From the four ends of the heavens, And have scattered them to all these winds, And there is no nation whither outcasts of Elam come not in.

Farei com que os quatro ventos, que vêm dos quatro cantos do céu, soprem contra Elão. E eu os dispersarei aos quatro ventos, e não haverá nenhuma nação para onde não sejam levados os exilados de Elão.

37 A nd I have affrighted Elam before their enemies, And before those seeking their life, And I have brought in against them evil, The heat of Mine anger, An affirmation of Jehovah, And I have sent after them the sword, Till I have consumed them;

Farei com que Elão trema diante dos seus inimigos, diante daqueles que desejam tirar-lhe a vida. Trarei a desgraça sobre eles, a minha ira ardente”, declara o Senhor. “Farei com que a espada os persiga até que eu os tenha eliminado.

38 A nd I have set My throne in Elam, And I have destroyed thence King and princes -- an affirmation of Jehovah.

Porei meu trono em Elão e destruirei seu rei e seus líderes”, declara o Senhor.

39 A nd it hath come to pass, in the latter end of the days, I turn back the captivity of Elam, An affirmation of Jehovah!'

“Contudo, restaurarei a sorte de Elão em dias vindouros”, declara o Senhor.
