1 A nd David saith, `Is there yet any left to the house of Saul, and I do with him kindness because of Jonathan?'

Certa ocasião Davi perguntou: “Resta ainda alguém da família de Saul a quem eu possa mostrar lealdade, por causa de minha amizade com Jônatas?”

2 A nd the house of Saul hath a servant, and his name Ziba, and they call for him unto David; and the king saith unto him, `Art thou Ziba?' and he saith, `Thy servant.'

Então chamaram Ziba, um dos servos de Saul, para apresentar-se a Davi, e o rei lhe perguntou: “Você é Ziba?” “Sou teu servo”, respondeu ele.

3 A nd the king saith, `Is there not yet a man to the house of Saul, and I do with him the kindness of God?' And Ziba saith unto the king, `Jonathan hath yet a son -- lame.'

Perguntou-lhe Davi: “Resta ainda alguém da família de Saul a quem eu possa mostrar a lealdade de Deus?” Respondeu Ziba: “Ainda há um filho de Jônatas, aleijado dos pés”.

4 A nd the king saith to him, `Where he?' and Ziba saith unto the king, `Lo, he in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lo-Debar.'

“Onde está ele?”, perguntou o rei. Ziba respondeu: “Na casa de Maquir, filho de Amiel, em Lo-Debar”.

5 A nd king David sendeth, and taketh him out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel, of Lo-Debar,

Então o rei Davi mandou trazê-lo de Lo-Debar.

6 a nd Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, cometh unto David, and falleth on his face, and doth obeisance, and David saith, `Mephibosheth;' and he saith, `Lo, thy servant.'

Quando Mefibosete, filho de Jônatas e neto de Saul, compareceu diante de Davi, prostrou-se, rosto em terra. “Mefibosete?”, perguntou Davi. Ele respondeu: “Sim, sou teu servo”.

7 A nd David saith to him, `Be not afraid; for I certainly do with thee kindness because of Jonathan thy father, and have given back to thee all the field of Saul thy father, and thou dost eat bread at my table continually.'

“Não tenha medo”, disse-lhe Davi, “pois é certo que eu o tratarei com bondade por causa de minha amizade com Jônatas, seu pai. Vou devolver-lhe todas as terras que pertenciam a seu avô Saul, e você comerá sempre à minha mesa.”

8 A nd he boweth himself, and saith, `What thy servant, that thou hast turned unto the dead dog -- such as I?'

Mefibosete prostrou-se e disse: “Quem é o teu servo, para que te preocupes com um cão morto como eu?”

9 A nd the king calleth unto Ziba servant of Saul, and saith unto him, `All that was to Saul and to all his house, I have given to the son of thy lord,

Então o rei convocou Ziba e disse-lhe: “Devolvi ao neto de Saul, seu senhor, tudo o que pertencia a ele e à família dele.

10 a nd thou hast served for him the land, thou and thy sons, and thy servants, and hast brought in, and there hath been to the son of thy lord bread, and he hath eaten it; and Mephibosheth son of thy lord doth eat continually bread at my table;' and Ziba hath fifteen sons and twenty servants.

Você, seus filhos e seus servos cultivarão a terra para ele. Você trará a colheita para que haja provisões na casa do neto de seu senhor. Mas Mefibosete comerá sempre à minha mesa”. Ziba tinha quinze filhos e vinte servos.

11 A nd Ziba saith unto the king, `According to all that my lord the king commandeth his servant, so doth thy servant;' as to Mephibosheth, `he is eating at my table () as one of the sons of the king.'

Então Ziba disse ao rei: “O teu servo fará tudo o que o rei, meu senhor, ordenou”. Assim, Mefibosete passou a comer à mesa de Davi como se fosse um dos seus filhos.

12 A nd Mephibosheth hath a young son, and his name Micha, and every one dwelling in the house of Ziba servants to Mephibosheth.

Mefibosete tinha um filho ainda jovem chamado Mica. E todos os que moravam na casa de Ziba tornaram-se servos de Mefibosete.

13 A nd Mephibosheth is dwelling in Jerusalem, for at the table of the king he is eating continually, and he lame of his two feet.

Então Mefibosete, que era aleijado dos pés, foi morar em Jerusalém, pois passou a comer sempre à mesa do rei.
