2 t o the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place -- both theirs and ours:

4 I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,

Sempre dou graças a meu Deus por vocês, por causa da graça que lhes foi dada por ele em Cristo Jesus.

5 t hat in every thing ye were enriched in him, in all discourse and all knowledge,

Pois nele vocês foram enriquecidos em tudo, isto é, em toda palavra e em todo conhecimento,

6 a ccording as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

porque o testemunho de Cristo foi confirmado entre vocês,

7 s o that ye are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

de modo que não lhes falta nenhum dom espiritual, enquanto vocês esperam que o nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja revelado.

8 w ho also shall confirm you unto the end -- unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Ele os manterá firmes até o fim, de modo que vocês serão irrepreensíveis no dia de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

9 f aithful God, through whom ye were called to the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Fiel é Deus, o qual os chamou à comunhão com seu Filho Jesus Cristo, nosso Senhor. As Divisões na Igreja

10 A nd I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,

Irmãos, em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo suplico a todos vocês que concordem uns com os outros no que falam, para que não haja divisões entre vocês; antes, que todos estejam unidos num só pensamento e num só parecer.

11 f or it was signified to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;

Meus irmãos, fui informado por alguns da casa de Cloe de que há divisões entre vocês.

12 a nd I say this, that each one of you saith, `I, indeed, am of Paul' -- `and I of Apollos,' -- `and I of Cephas,' -- `and I of Christ.'

Com isso quero dizer que algum de vocês afirma: “Eu sou de Paulo”; ou “Eu sou de Apolo”; ou “Eu sou de Pedro ”; ou ainda “Eu sou de Cristo”.

13 H ath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;

Acaso Cristo está dividido? Foi Paulo crucificado em favor de vocês? Foram vocês batizados em nome de Paulo?

14 I give thanks to God that no one of you did I baptize, except Crispus and Gaius --

Dou graças a Deus por não ter batizado nenhum de vocês, exceto Crispo e Gaio;

15 t hat no one may say that to my own name I did baptize;

de modo que ninguém pode dizer que foi batizado em meu nome.

16 a nd I did baptize also Stephanas' household -- further, I have not known if I did baptize any other.

(Batizei também os da casa de Estéfanas; além destes, não me lembro se batizei alguém mais.)

17 F or Christ did not send me to baptize, but -- to proclaim good news; not in wisdom of discourse, that the cross of the Christ may not be made of none effect;

Pois Cristo não me enviou para batizar, mas para pregar o evangelho, não porém com palavras de sabedoria humana, para que a cruz de Cristo não seja esvaziada. Cristo, Sabedoria e Poder de Deus

18 f or the word of the cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us -- those being saved -- it is the power of God,

Pois a mensagem da cruz é loucura para os que estão perecendo, mas para nós, que estamos sendo salvos, é o poder de Deus.

19 f or it hath been written, `I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought;'

Pois está escrito: “Destruirei a sabedoria dos sábios e rejeitarei a inteligência dos inteligentes”.

20 w here the wise? where the scribe? where a disputer of this age? did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world?

Onde está o sábio? Onde está o erudito? Onde está o questionador desta era? Acaso não tornou Deus louca a sabedoria deste mundo?

21 f or, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.

Visto que, na sabedoria de Deus, o mundo não o conheceu por meio da sabedoria humana, agradou a Deus salvar aqueles que crêem por meio da loucura da pregação.

22 S ince also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,

Os judeus pedem sinais miraculosos, e os gregos procuram sabedoria;

23 a lso we -- we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,

nós, porém, pregamos a Cristo crucificado, o qual, de fato, é escândalo para os judeus e loucura para os gentios,

24 a nd to those called -- both Jews and Greeks -- Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,

mas para os que foram chamados, tanto judeus como gregos, Cristo é o poder de Deus e a sabedoria de Deus.

25 b ecause the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;

Porque a loucura de Deus é mais sábia que a sabedoria humana, e a fraqueza de Deus é mais forte que a força do homem.

26 f or see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

Irmãos, pensem no que vocês eram quando foram chamados. Poucos eram sábios segundo os padrões humanos; poucos eram poderosos; poucos eram de nobre nascimento.

27 b ut the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;

Mas Deus escolheu o que para o mundo é loucura para envergonhar os sábios, e escolheu o que para o mundo é fraqueza para envergonhar o que é forte.

28 a nd the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless --

Ele escolheu o que para o mundo é insignificante, desprezado e o que nada é, para reduzir a nada o que é,

29 t hat no flesh may glory before Him;

a fim de que ninguém se vanglorie diante dele.

30 a nd of Him ye -- ye are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,

É, porém, por iniciativa dele que vocês estão em Cristo Jesus, o qual se tornou sabedoria de Deus para nós, isto é, justiça, santidade e redenção,

31 t hat, according as it hath been written, `He who is glorying -- in the Lord let him glory.'

para que, como está escrito: “Quem se gloriar, glorie-se no Senhor”.
