1 ` In the third year of the reign of Belshazzar the king, a vision hath appeared unto me -- I Daniel -- after that which had appeared unto me at the beginning.

No terceiro ano do reinado do rei Belsazar, eu, Daniel, tive outra visão, a segunda.

2 A nd I see in a vision, and it cometh to pass, in my seeing, and I in Shushan the palace that in Elam the province, and I see in a vision, and I have been by the stream Ulai.

Na minha visão eu me vi na cidadela de Susã, na província de Elão; na visão eu estava junto do canal de Ulai.

3 A nd I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, a certain ram is standing before the stream, and it hath two horns, and the two horns high; and the one higher than the other, and the high one is coming up last.

Olhei para cima e, diante de mim, junto ao canal, estava um carneiro; seus dois chifres eram compridos, um mais que o outro, mas o mais comprido cresceu depois do outro.

4 I have seen the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward, and no living creatures do stand before it, and there is none delivering out of its hand, and it hath done according to its pleasure, and hath exerted itself.

Observei o carneiro enquanto ele avançava para o oeste, para o norte e para o sul. Nenhum animal conseguia resistir-lhe, e ninguém podia livrar-se do seu poder. Ele fazia o que bem desejava e foi ficando cada vez maior.

5 ` And I have been considering, and lo, a young he-goat hath come from the west, over the face of the whole earth, whom none is touching in the earth; as to the young he-goat, a conspicuous horn between its eyes.

Enquanto eu considerava isso, de repente um bode, com um chifre enorme entre os olhos, veio do oeste, percorrendo toda a extensão da terra sem encostar no chão.

6 A nd it cometh unto the ram possessing the two horns, that I had seen standing before the stream, and runneth unto it in the fury of its power.

Ele veio na direção do carneiro de dois chifres que eu tinha visto ao lado do canal, e avançou contra ele com grande fúria.

7 A nd I have seen it coming near the ram, and it becometh embittered at it, and smiteth the ram, and breaketh its two horns, and there hath been no power in the ram to stand before it, and it casteth it to the earth, and trampleth it down, and there hath been no deliverer to the ram out of its power.

Eu o vi atacar furiosamente o carneiro, atingi-lo e quebrar os seus dois chifres. O carneiro não teve forças para resistir a ele; o bode o derrubou no chão e o pisoteou, e ninguém foi capaz de livrar o carneiro do seu poder.

8 ` And the young he-goat hath exerted itself very much, and when it is strong, broken hath been the great horn; and come up doth a vision of four in its place, at the four winds of the heavens.

O bode tornou-se muito grande, mas no auge da sua força o seu grande chifre foi quebrado, e em seu lugar cresceram quatro chifres enormes, na direção dos quatro ventos da terra.

9 A nd from the one of them come forth hath a little horn, and it exerteth itself greatly toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the beauteous;

De um deles saiu um pequeno chifre, que logo cresceu em poder na direção do sul, do leste e da Terra Magnífica.

10 y ea, it exerteth unto the host of the heavens, and causeth to fall to the earth of the host, and of the stars, and trampleth them down.

Cresceu até alcançar o exército dos céus, e atirou na terra parte do exército das estrelas e os pisoteou.

11 A nd unto the prince of the host it exerteth itself, and by it taken away hath been the continual, and thrown down the base of his sanctuary.

Tanto cresceu que chegou a desafiar o príncipe do exército; suprimiu o sacrifício diário oferecido ao príncipe, e o local do santuário foi destruído.

12 A nd the host is given up, with the continual, through transgression, and it throweth down truth to the earth, and it hath worked, and prospered.

Por causa da rebelião, o exército dos santos e o sacrifício diário foram dados ao chifre. Ele tinha êxito em tudo o que fazia, e a verdade foi lançada por terra.

13 ` And I hear a certain holy one speaking, and a certain holy one saith to the wonderful numberer who is speaking: Till when the vision of the continual, and of the transgression, an astonishment, to make both sanctuary and host a treading down?

Então ouvi dois anjos conversando, e um deles perguntou ao outro: “Quanto tempo durarão os acontecimentos anunciados por esta visão? Até quando será suprimido o sacrifício diário e a rebelião devastadora prevalecerá? Até quando o santuário e o exército ficarão entregues ao poder do chifre e serão pisoteados?”

14 A nd he saith unto me, Till evening -- morning two thousand and three hundred, then is the holy place declared right.

Ele me disse: “Isso tudo levará duas mil e trezentas tardes e manhãs; então o santuário será reconsagrado”. A Interpretação da Visão

15 ` And it cometh to pass in my seeing -- I, Daniel -- the vision, that I require understanding, and lo, standing over-against me as the appearance of a mighty one.

Enquanto eu, Daniel, observava a visão e tentava entendê-la, diante de mim apareceu um ser que parecia homem.

16 A nd I hear a voice of man between Ulai, and he calleth and saith: Gabriel, cause this to understand the appearance.

E ouvi a voz de um homem que vinha do Ulai: “Gabriel, dê a esse homem o significado da visão”.

17 A nd he cometh in near my station, and at his coming in I have been afraid, and I fall on my face, and he saith unto me: Understand, son of man, for at the time of the end the vision.

Quando ele se aproximou de mim, fiquei aterrorizado e caí prostrado. Ele me disse: “Filho do homem, saiba que a visão refere-se aos tempos do fim”.

18 A nd in his speaking with me, I have been in a trance on my face, on the earth; and he cometh against me, and causeth me to stand on my station,

Enquanto ele falava comigo, eu, com o rosto em terra, perdi os sentidos. Então ele tocou em mim e me pôs em pé.

19 a nd saith: Lo, I -- I am causing thee to know that which is in the latter end of the indignation; for, at the appointed time the end.

E disse: “Vou contar-lhe o que acontecerá depois, no tempo da ira, pois a visão se refere ao tempo do fim.

20 ` The ram that thou hast seen possessing two horns, the kings of Media and Persia.

O carneiro de dois chifres que você viu representa os reis da Média e da Pérsia.

21 A nd the young he-goat, the hairy one, the king of Javan; and the great horn that between its eyes is the first king;

O bode peludo é o rei da Grécia, e o grande chifre entre os seus olhos é o primeiro rei.

22 a nd that being broken, stand up do four in its place, four kingdoms from the nation do stand up, and not in its power.

Os quatro chifres que tomaram o lugar do chifre que foi quebrado são quatro reis. Seus reinos surgirão da nação daquele rei, mas não terão o mesmo poder.

23 ` And in the latter end of their kingdom, about the perfecting of the transgressors, stand up doth a king, fierce of face, and understanding hidden things;

“No final do reinado deles, quando a rebelião dos ímpios tiver chegado ao máximo, surgirá um rei de duro semblante, mestre em astúcias.

24 a nd his power hath been mighty, and not by his own power; and wonderful things he destroyeth, and he hath prospered, and wrought, and destroyed mighty ones, and the people of the Holy Ones.

Ele se tornará muito forte, mas não pelo seu próprio poder. Provocará devastações terríveis e será bem-sucedido em tudo o que fizer. Destruirá os homens poderosos e o povo santo.

25 ` And by his understanding he hath also caused deceit to prosper in his hand, and in his heart he exerteth himself, and by ease he destroyeth many; and against the prince of princes he standeth -- and without hand he is broken.

Com o intuito de prosperar, ele enganará a muitos e se considerará superior aos outros. Destruirá muitos que nele confiam e se insurgirá contra o Príncipe dos príncipes. Apesar disso, ele será destruído, mas não pelo poder dos homens.

26 A nd the appearance of the evening and of the morning, that is told, is true; and thou, hide thou the vision, for after many days.'

“A visão das tardes e das manhãs que você recebeu é verdadeira; sele porém a visão, pois refere-se ao futuro distante”.

27 A nd I, Daniel, have been, yea, I became sick days, and I rise, and do the king's work, and am astonished at the appearance, and there is none understanding.

Eu, Daniel, fiquei exausto e doente por vários dias. Depois levantei-me e voltei a cuidar dos negócios do rei. Fiquei assustado com a visão; estava além da compreensão humana.
