1 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Speak unto the priests, sons of Aaron, and thou hast said unto them, For person is not defiled among his people,

Disse ainda o Senhor a Moisés: “Diga o seguinte aos sacerdotes, os filhos de Arão: Um sacerdote não poderá tornar-se impuro por causa de alguém do seu povo que venha a morrer,

2 e xcept for his relation who near unto him -- for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.

a não ser por um parente próximo, como mãe ou pai, filho ou filha, irmão,

3 a nd for his sister, the virgin, who is near unto him, who hath not been to a man; for her he is defiled.

ou irmã virgem dependente dele por ainda não ter marido; por causa dela, poderá tornar-se impuro.

4 ` A master doth not defile himself among his people -- to pollute himself;

Não poderá tornar-se impuro e contaminar-se por causa de parentes por casamento.

5 t hey do not make baldness on their head, and the corner of their beard they do not shave, and in their flesh they do not make a cutting;

“Os sacerdotes não raparão a cabeça, nem apararão as pontas da barba, nem farão cortes no corpo.

6 t hey are holy to their God, and they pollute not the name of their God, for the fire-offerings of Jehovah, bread of their God, they are bringing near, and have been holy.

Serão santos ao seu Deus, e não profanarão o nome do seu Deus. Pelo fato de apresentarem ao Senhor as ofertas preparadas no fogo, ofertas de alimento do seu Deus, serão santos.

7 ` A woman, a harlot, or polluted, they do not take, and a woman cast out from her husband they do not take, for he holy to his God;

“Não poderão tomar por mulher uma prostituta, uma moça que tenha perdido a virgindade, ou uma mulher divorciada do seu marido, porque o sacerdote é santo ao seu Deus.

8 a nd thou hast sanctified him, for the bread of thy God he is bringing near; he is holy to thee; for holy I, Jehovah, sanctifying you.

Considerem-no santo, porque ele oferece o alimento do seu Deus. Considerem-no santo, porque eu, o Senhor, que os santifico, sou santo.

9 ` And a daughter of any priest when she polluteth herself by going a-whoring -- her father she is polluting; with fire she is burnt.

“Se a filha de um sacerdote se corromper, tornando-se prostituta, desonra seu pai; deverá morrer queimada.

10 ` And the high priest of his brethren, on whose head is poured the anointing oil, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments, his head doth not uncover, nor rend his garments,

“O sumo sacerdote, aquele entre seus irmãos sobre cuja cabeça tiver sido derramado o óleo da unção, e que tiver sido consagrado para usar as vestes sacerdotais, não andará descabelado, nem rasgará as roupas em sinal de luto.

11 n or beside any dead person doth he come; for his father and for his mother he doth not defile himself;

Não entrará onde houver um cadáver. Não se tornará impuro, nem mesmo por causa do seu pai ou da sua mãe;

12 n or from the sanctuary doth he go out, nor doth he pollute the sanctuary of his God, for the separation of the anointing oil of his God on him; I Jehovah.

e não deixará o santuário do seu Deus, nem o profanará, porquanto foi consagrado pelo óleo da unção do seu Deus. Eu sou o Senhor.

13 ` And he taketh a wife in her virginity;

“A mulher que ele tomar terá que ser virgem.

14 w idow, or cast out, or polluted one -- a harlot -- these he doth not take, but a virgin of his own people he doth take a wife,

Não poderá ser viúva, nem divorciada, nem moça que perdeu a virgindade, nem prostituta, mas terá que ser uma virgem do seu próprio povo,

15 a nd he doth not pollute his seed among his people; for I Jehovah, sanctifying him.'

assim ele não profanará a sua descendência entre o seu povo. Eu sou o Senhor, que o santifico”.

16 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Disse ainda o Senhor a Moisés:

17 ` Speak unto Aaron, saying, No man of thy seed to their generations in whom there is blemish doth draw near to bring near the bread of his God,

“Diga a Arão: Pelas suas gerações, nenhum dos seus descendentes que tenha algum defeito poderá aproximar-se para trazer ao seu Deus ofertas de alimento.

18 f or no man in whom blemish doth draw near -- a man blind, or lame or dwarfed, or enlarged,

Nenhum homem que tenha algum defeito poderá aproximar-se: ninguém que seja cego ou aleijado, que tenha o rosto defeituoso ou o corpo deformado;

19 o r a man in whom there is a breach in the foot, or a breach in the hand,

ninguém que tenha o pé ou a mão defeituosos,

20 o r hump-backed, or a dwarf, or with a mixture in his eye, or a scurvy person, or scabbed, or broken-testicled.

ou que seja corcunda ou anão, ou que tenha qualquer defeito na vista, ou que esteja com feridas purulentas ou com fluxo, ou que tenha testículos defeituosos.

21 ` No man in whom is blemish (of the seed of Aaron the priest) doth come nigh to bring near the fire-offerings of Jehovah; blemish in him; the bread of his God he doth not come nigh to bring near.

Nenhum descendente do sacerdote Arão que tenha qualquer defeito poderá aproximar-se para apresentar ao Senhor ofertas preparadas no fogo. Tem defeito; não poderá aproximar-se para trazê-las ao seu Deus.

22 ` Bread of his God -- of the most holy things, and of the holy things -- he doth eat;

Poderá comer o alimento santíssimo de seu Deus, e também o alimento santo;

23 o nly, unto the vail he doth not enter, and unto the altar he doth not draw nigh; for blemish in him; and he doth not pollute My sanctuaries; for I Jehovah, sanctifying them.'

contudo, por causa do seu defeito, não se aproximará do véu nem do altar, para que não profane o meu santuário. Eu sou o Senhor, que os santifico”.

24 A nd Moses speaketh unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the sons of Israel.

Foi isso que Moisés falou a Arão e a seus filhos e a todos os israelitas.
