1 W o apostate sons, The affirmation of Jehovah! To do counsel, and not from Me, And to spread out a covering, and not of My spirit, So as to add sin to sin.

“Ai dos filhos obstinados”, declara o Senhor, “que executam planos que não são meus, fazem acordo sem minha aprovação, para ajuntar pecado sobre pecado,

2 W ho are walking to go down to Egypt, And My mouth have not asked, To be strong in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt.

que descem ao Egito sem consultar-me, para buscar proteção no poder do faraó, e refúgio na sombra do Egito.

3 A nd the strength of Pharaoh Hath been to you for shame, And the trust in the shadow of Egypt confusion,

Mas a proteção do faraó lhes trará vergonha, e a sombra do Egito lhes causará humilhação.

4 F or in Zoan were his princes, And his messengers reach Hanes.

Embora seus líderes tenham ido a Zoã e seus enviados tenham chegado a Hanes,

5 A ll he made ashamed of a people that profit not, Neither for help, not for profit, But for shame, and also for reproach!

todos se envergonharão por causa de um povo que lhes é inútil, que não traz ajuda nem vantagem, mas apenas vergonha e zombaria.”

6 T he burden of the beasts of the south. Into a land of adversity and distress, Of young lion and of old lion, Whence viper and flying saraph, They carry on the shoulder of asses their wealth, And on the hump of camels their treasures, Unto a people not profitable.

Advertência contra os animais do Neguebe: Atravessando uma terra hostil e severa, de leões e leoas, de víboras e serpentes velozes, os enviados transportam suas riquezas no lombo de jumentos, seus tesouros, nas corcovas de camelos, para aquela nação inútil,

7 Y ea, Egyptians vanity, and in vain do help, Therefore I have cried concerning this: `Their strength to sit still.'

o Egito, cujo socorro é totalmente inútil. Por isso eu o chamo Monstro inofensivo.

8 N o, go in, write it on a tablet with them, And on a book engrave it, And it is for a latter day, for a witness unto the age,

Agora vá, escreva isso numa tábua para eles, registre-o num livro, para que nos dias vindouros seja um testemunho eterno.

9 T hat a rebellious people this, sons -- liars, Sons not willing to hear the law of Jehovah.

Esse povo é rebelde; são filhos mentirosos, filhos que não querem saber da instrução do Senhor.

10 W ho have said to seers, `Ye do not see,' And to prophets, `Ye do not prophesy to us Straightforward things, Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits,

Eles dizem aos videntes: “Não tenham mais visões!” e aos profetas: “Não nos revelem o que é certo! Falem-nos coisas agradáveis, profetizem ilusões.

11 T urn aside from the way, decline from the path, Cause to cease from before us the Holy One of Israel.'

Deixem esse caminho, abandonem essa vereda, e parem de confrontar-nos com o Santo de Israel!”

12 T herefore, thus said the Holy One of Israel, Because of your kicking against this word, And ye trust in oppression, And perverseness, and rely on it,

Por isso diz o Santo de Israel: “Como vocês rejeitaram esta mensagem, apelaram para a opressão e confiaram nos perversos,

13 T herefore is this iniquity to you as a breach falling, Swelled out in a wall set on high, Whose destruction suddenly, at an instant cometh.

este pecado será para vocês como um muro alto, rachado e torto, que de repente desaba, inesperadamente.

14 A nd He hath broken it As the breaking of the potters' bottle, Beaten down -- He doth not spare, Nor is there found, in its beating down, A potsherd to take fire from the burning, And to draw out waters from a ditch.

Ele o fará em pedaços como um vaso de barro, tão esmigalhado que entre os seus pedaços não se achará um caco que sirva para pegar brasas de uma lareira ou para tirar água da cisterna”.

15 F or thus said the Lord Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel: `In returning and rest ye are saved, In keeping quiet and in confidence is your might, And ye have not been willing.

Diz o Soberano, o Senhor, o Santo de Israel: “No arrependimento e no descanso está a salvação de vocês, na quietude e na confiança está o seu vigor, mas vocês não quiseram.

16 A nd ye say, No, for on a horse we flee? Therefore ye flee, And on the swift we ride! Therefore swift are your pursuers.

Vocês disseram: ‘Não, nós vamos fugir a cavalo’. E fugirão! Vocês disseram: ‘Cavalgaremos cavalos velozes’. Velozes serão os seus perseguidores!

17 O ne thousand because of the rebuke of one, Because of the rebuke of five ye flee, Till ye have been surely left as a pole On the top of the mountain, And as an ensign on the height.

Mil fugirão diante da ameaça de um; diante da ameaça de cinco todos vocês fugirão, até que vocês sejam deixados como um mastro no alto de um monte, como uma bandeira numa colina”.

18 A nd therefore doth wait Jehovah to favour you, And therefore He is exalted to pity you, For a God of judgment Jehovah, O the blessedness of all waiting for Him.

Contudo, o Senhor espera o momento de ser bondoso com vocês; ele ainda se levantará para mostrar-lhes compaixão. Pois o Senhor é Deus de justiça. Como são felizes todos os que nele esperam!

19 F or the people in Zion dwell in Jerusalem, Weep thou not, weeping, Pitying, He pitieth thee at the voice of thy cry, When He heareth He answereth thee.

Ó povo de Sião, que mora em Jerusalém, você não vai chorar mais. Como ele será bondoso quando você clamar por socorro! Assim que ele ouvir, lhe responderá.

20 A nd the Lord hath given to you bread of adversity, And water of oppression. And thy directors remove no more, And thine eyes have seen thy directors,

Embora o Senhor lhe dê o pão da adversidade e a água da aflição, o seu mestre não se esconderá mais; com seus próprios olhos você o verá.

21 A nd thine ear heareth a word behind thee, Saying, `This the way, go ye in it,' When ye turn to the right, And when ye turn to the left.

Quer você se volte para a direita quer para a esquerda, uma voz atrás de você lhe dirá: “Este é o caminho; siga-o”.

22 A nd ye have defiled the covering of Thy graven images of silver, And the ephod of thy molten image of gold, Thou scatterest them as a sickening thing, `Go out,' thou sayest to it.

Então você tratará como impuras as suas imagens revestidas de prata e os seus ídolos recobertos de ouro; você os jogará fora como um trapo imundo e lhes dirá: “Fora!”

23 A nd He hath given rain thy seed, With which thou dost sow the ground, And bread, the increase of the ground, And it hath been fat and plenteous, Enjoy do thy cattle in that day an enlarged pasture.

Ele também lhe mandará chuva para a semente que você semear, e a terra dará alimento rico e farto. Naquele dia o seu gado pastará em grandes prados.

24 A nd the oxen and the young asses serving the ground, Fermented provender do eat, That one is winnowing with shovel and fan.

Os bois e os jumentos que lavram o solo comerão forragem e sal espalhados com forcado e pá.

25 A nd there hath been on every high mount, And on every exalted hill, Rivulets -- streams of waters, In a day of much slaughter, in the falling of towers.

No dia do grande massacre, quando caírem as torres, regatos de água fluirão sobre todo monte elevado e sobre toda colina altaneira.

26 A nd the light of the moon hath been as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun is sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day of Jehovah's binding up the breach of His people, When the stroke of its wound He healeth.

A luz da lua brilhará como o sol, e a luz do sol será sete vezes mais brilhante, como a luz de sete dias completos, quando o Senhor cuidar das contusões do seu povo e curar as feridas que lhe causou.

27 L o, the name of Jehovah is coming from far, Burning is His anger, and great the flame, His lips have been full of indignation, And His tongue as a devouring fire.

Vejam! De longe vem o Nome do Senhor, com sua ira em chamas, e densas nuvens de fumaça; seus lábios estão cheios de ira, e sua língua é fogo consumidor.

28 A nd His breath as an overflowing stream, Unto the neck it divideth, To sift nations with a sieve of vanity, And a bridle causing to err, on the jaws of the peoples.

Seu sopro é como uma torrente impetuosa que sobe até o pescoço. Ele faz sacudir as nações na peneira da destruição; ele coloca na boca dos povos um freio que os desencaminha.

29 S inging is to you as in a night sanctified for a festival, And joy of heart as he who is going with a pipe, To go in to the mountain of Jehovah, Unto the rock of Israel.

E vocês cantarão como em noite de festa sagrada; seus corações se regozijarão como quando se vai, ao som da flauta, ao monte do Senhor, à Rocha de Israel.

30 A nd caused to be heard hath Jehovah The honour of His voice, And the coming down of His arm He doth shew with the raging of anger, And the flame of a consuming fire, Scattering, and inundation, and hailstone.

O Senhor fará que os homens ouçam sua voz majestosa e os levará a ver seu braço descendo com ira impetuosa e fogo consumidor, com aguaceiro, tempestades de raios e saraiva.

31 F or from the voice of Jehovah broken down Asshur, With a rod He smiteth.

A voz do Senhor despedaçará a Assíria; com seu cetro a ferirá.

32 A nd every passage of the settled staff, That Jehovah causeth to rest on him, Hath been with tabrets, and with harps, And in battles of shaking he hath fought with it.

Cada pancada que com a vara o Senhor desferir para a castigar será dada ao som de tamborins e harpas, enquanto a estiver combatendo com os golpes do seu braço.

33 F or, arranged from former time is Tophet, Even it for the king is prepared, He hath made deep, He hath made large, Its pile fire and much wood, The breath of Jehovah, As a stream of brim stone, is burning in it!

Tofete está pronta já faz tempo; foi preparada para o rei. Sua fogueira é funda e larga, com muita lenha e muito fogo; o sopro do Senhor, como uma torrente de enxofre ardente, a incendeia.
