1 T hen singeth Moses and the sons of Israel this song to Jehovah, and they speak, saying: -- `I sing to Jehovah, For triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea.

Então Moisés e os israelitas entoaram este cântico ao Senhor: “Cantarei ao Senhor, pois triunfou gloriosamente. Lançou ao mar o cavalo e o seu cavaleiro!

2 M y strength and song is Jah, And He is become my salvation: This my God, and I glorify Him; God of my father, and I exalt Him.

O Senhor é a minha força e a minha canção; ele é a minha salvação! Ele é o meu Deus e eu o louvarei, é o Deus de meu pai, e eu o exaltarei!

3 J ehovah a man of battle; Jehovah His name.

O Senhor é guerreiro, o seu nome é Senhor.

4 C hariots of Pharaoh and his force He hath cast into the sea; And the choice of his captains Have sunk in the Red Sea!

Ele lançou ao mar os carros de guerra e o exército do faraó. Os seus melhores oficiais afogaram-se no mar Vermelho.

5 T he depths do cover them; They went down into the depths as a stone.

Águas profundas os encobriram; como pedra desceram ao fundo.

6 T hy right hand, O Jehovah, Is become honourable in power; Thy right hand, O Jehovah, Doth crush an enemy.

“ Senhor, a tua mão direita foi majestosa em poder. Senhor, a tua mão direita despedaçou o inimigo.

7 A nd in the abundance of Thine excellency Thou throwest down Thy withstanders, Thou sendest forth Thy wrath -- It consumeth them as stubble.

Em teu triunfo grandioso, derrubaste os teus adversários. Enviaste o teu furor flamejante, que os consumiu como palha.

8 A nd by the spirit of Thine anger Have waters been heaped together; Stood as a heap have flowings; Congealed have been depths In the heart of a sea.

Pelo forte sopro das tuas narinas as águas se amontoaram. As águas turbulentas firmaram-se como muralha; as águas profundas congelaram-se no coração do mar.

9 T he enemy said, I pursue, I overtake; I apportion spoil; Filled is my soul with them; I draw out my sword; My hand destroyeth them: --

“O inimigo se gloriava: ‘Eu os perseguirei e os alcançarei, dividirei o despojo e os devorarei. Com a espada na mão, eu os destruirei’.

10 T hou hast blown with Thy wind The sea hath covered them; They sank as lead in mighty waters.

Mas enviaste o teu sopro, e o mar os encobriu. Afundaram como chumbo nas águas volumosas.

11 W ho like Thee among the gods, O Jehovah? Who like Thee -- honourable in holiness -- Fearful in praises -- doing wonders?

“Quem entre os deuses é semelhante a ti, Senhor ? Quem é semelhante a ti? Majestoso em santidade, terrível em feitos gloriosos, autor de maravilhas?

12 T hou hast stretched out Thy right hand -- Earth swalloweth them!

Estendes a tua mão direita e a terra os engole.

13 T hou hast led forth in Thy kindness The people whom Thou hast redeemed. Thou hast led on in Thy strength Unto Thy holy habitation.

Com o teu amor conduzes o povo que resgataste; com a tua força tu o levas à tua santa habitação.

14 P eoples have heard, they are troubled; Pain hath seized inhabitants of Philistia.

As nações ouvem e estremecem; angústia se apodera do povo da Filístia.

15 T hen have chiefs of Edom been troubled: Mighty ones of Moab -- Trembling doth seize them! Melted have all inhabitants of Canaan!

Os chefes de Edom ficam aterrorizados, os poderosos de Moabe são tomados de tremor, o povo de Canaã esmorece;

16 F all on them doth terror and dread; By the greatness of Thine arm They are still as a stone, Till Thy people pass over, O Jehovah; Till the people pass over Whom Thou hast purchased.

terror e medo caem sobre eles; pelo poder do teu braço ficam paralisados como pedra, até que passe o teu povo, ó Senhor, até que passe o povo que tu compraste.

17 T hou dost bring them in, And dost plant them In a mountain of Thine inheritance, A fixed place for Thy dwelling Thou hast made, O Jehovah; A sanctuary, O Lord, Thy hands have established;

Tu o farás entrar e o plantarás no monte da tua herança, no lugar, ó Senhor, que fizeste para a tua habitação, no santuário, ó Senhor, que as tuas mãos estabeleceram.

18 J ehovah reigneth -- to the age, and for ever!'

O Senhor reinará eternamente”.

19 F or the horse of Pharaoh hath gone in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Jehovah turneth back on them the waters of the sea, and the sons of Israel have gone on dry land in the midst of the sea.

Quando os cavalos, os carros de guerra e os cavaleiros do faraó entraram no mar, o Senhor fez que as águas do mar se voltassem sobre eles, mas os israelitas atravessaram o mar pisando em terra seca.

20 A nd Miriam the inspired one, sister of Aaron, taketh the timbrel in her hand, and all the women go out after her, with timbrels and with choruses;

Então Miriã, a profetisa, irmã de Arão, pegou um tamborim e todas as mulheres a seguiram, tocando tamborins e dançando.

21 a nd Miriam answereth to them: -- `Sing ye to Jehovah, For Triumphing He hath triumphed; The horse and its rider He hath thrown into the sea!'

E Miriã lhes respondia, cantando: “Cantem ao Senhor, pois triunfou gloriosamente. Lançou ao mar o cavalo e o seu cavaleiro”. As Águas de Mara e de Elim

22 A nd Moses causeth Israel to journey from the Red Sea, and they go out unto the wilderness of Shur, and they go three days in the wilderness, and have not found water,

Depois Moisés conduziu Israel desde o mar Vermelho até o deserto de Sur. Durante três dias caminharam no deserto sem encontrar água.

23 a nd they come in to Marah, and have not been able to drink the waters of Marah, for they bitter; therefore hath called its name Marah.

Então chegaram a Mara, mas não puderam beber das águas de lá porque eram amargas. Esta é a razão porque o lugar chama-se Mara.

24 A nd the people murmur against Moses, saying, `What do we drink?'

E o povo começou a reclamar a Moisés, dizendo: “Que beberemos?”

25 a nd he crieth unto Jehovah, and Jehovah sheweth him a tree, and he casteth unto the waters, and the waters become sweet. There He hath made for them a statute, and an ordinance, and there He hath tried them,

Moisés clamou ao Senhor, e este lhe indicou um arbusto. Ele o lançou na água, e esta se tornou boa. Em Mara o Senhor lhes deu leis e ordenanças, e os colocou à prova,

26 a nd He saith, `If thou dost really hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and dost that which is right in His eyes, and hast hearkened to His commands, and kept all His statutes: none of the sickness which I laid on the Egyptians do I lay on thee, for I, Jehovah, am healing thee.

dizendo-lhes: “Se vocês derem atenção ao Senhor, o seu Deus, e fizerem o que ele aprova, se derem ouvidos aos seus mandamentos e obedecerem a todos os seus decretos, não trarei sobre vocês nenhuma das doenças que eu trouxe sobre os egípcios, pois eu sou o Senhor que os cura”.

27 A nd they come to Elim, and there twelve fountains of water, and seventy palm trees; and they encamp there by the waters.

Depois chegaram a Elim, onde havia doze fontes de água e setenta palmeiras; e acamparam junto àquelas águas.
