1 H e who is dwelling In the secret place of the Most High, In the shade of the Mighty lodgeth habitually,

3 F or He delivereth thee from the snare of a fowler, From a calamitous pestilence.

4 W ith His pinion He covereth thee over, And under His wings thou dost trust, A shield and buckler His truth.

Ele o cobrirá com as suas penas, e sob as suas asas você encontrará refúgio; a fidelidade dele será o seu escudo protetor.

5 T hou art not afraid of fear by night, Of arrow that flieth by day,

Você não temerá o pavor da noite, nem a flecha que voa de dia,

6 O f pestilence in thick darkness that walketh, Of destruction that destroyeth at noon,

nem a peste que se move sorrateira nas trevas, nem a praga que devasta ao meio-dia.

7 T here fall at thy side a thousand, And a myriad at thy right hand, Unto thee it cometh not nigh.

Mil poderão cair ao seu lado, dez mil à sua direita, mas nada o atingirá.

8 B ut with thine eyes thou lookest, And the reward of the wicked thou seest,

Você simplesmente olhará, e verá o castigo dos ímpios.

9 ( For Thou, O Jehovah, my refuge,) The Most High thou madest thy habitation.

Se você fizer do Altíssimo o seu abrigo, do Senhor o seu refúgio,

10 E vil happeneth not unto thee, And a plague cometh not near thy tent,

nenhum mal o atingirá, desgraça alguma chegará à sua tenda.

11 F or His messengers He chargeth for thee, To keep thee in all thy ways,

12 O n the hands they bear thee up, Lest thou smite against a stone thy foot.

13 O n lion and asp thou treadest, Thou trampest young lion and dragon.

14 B ecause in Me he hath delighted, I also deliver him -- I set him on high, Because he hath known My name.

“Porque ele me ama, eu o resgatarei; eu o protegerei, pois conhece o meu nome.

15 H e doth call Me, and I answer him, I with him in distress, I deliver him, and honour him.

Ele clamará a mim, e eu lhe darei resposta, e na adversidade estarei com ele; vou livrá-lo e cobri-lo de honra.

16 W ith length of days I satisfy him, And I cause him to look on My salvation!

Vida longa eu lhe darei, e lhe mostrarei a minha salvação.”
