1 A nd it cometh to pass that Isaac aged, and his eyes are too dim for seeing, and he calleth Esau his elder son, and saith unto him, `My son;' and he saith unto him, `Here I.'

Tendo Isaque envelhecido, seus olhos ficaram tão fracos que ele já não podia enxergar. Certo dia chamou Esaú, seu filho mais velho, e lhe disse: “Meu filho!” Ele respondeu: “Estou aqui”.

2 A nd he saith, `Lo, I pray thee, I have become aged, I have not known the day of my death;

Disse-lhe Isaque: “Já estou velho e não sei o dia da minha morte.

3 a nd now, take up, I pray thee, thy instruments, thy quiver, and thy bow, and go out to the field, and hunt for me provision,

Pegue agora suas armas, o arco e a aljava, e vá ao campo caçar alguma coisa para mim.

4 a nd make for me tasteful things, as I have loved, and bring in to me, and I do eat, so that my soul doth bless thee before I die.'

Prepare-me aquela comida saborosa que tanto aprecio e traga-me, para que eu a coma e o abençoe antes de morrer”.

5 A nd Rebekah is hearkening while Isaac is speaking unto Esau his son; and Esau goeth to the field to hunt provision -- to bring in;

Ora, Rebeca estava ouvindo o que Isaque dizia a seu filho Esaú. Quando Esaú saiu ao campo para caçar,

6 a nd Rebekah hath spoken unto Jacob her son, saying, `Lo, I have heard thy father speaking unto Esau thy brother, saying,

Rebeca disse a seu filho Jacó: “Ouvi seu pai dizer a seu irmão Esaú:

7 B ring for me provision, and make for me tasteful things, and I do eat, and bless thee before Jehovah before my death.

‘Traga-me alguma caça e prepare-me aquela comida saborosa, para que eu a coma e o abençoe na presença do Senhor antes de morrer’.

8 ` And now, my son, hearken to my voice, to that which I am commanding thee:

Agora, meu filho, ouça bem e faça o que lhe ordeno:

9 G o, I pray thee, unto the flock, and take for me from thence two good kids of the goats, and I make them tasteful things for thy father, as he hath loved;

Vá ao rebanho e traga-me dois cabritos escolhidos, para que eu prepare uma comida saborosa para seu pai, como ele aprecia.

10 a nd thou hast taken in to thy father, and he hath eaten, so that his soul doth bless thee before his death.

Leve-a então a seu pai, para que ele a coma e o abençoe antes de morrer”.

11 A nd Jacob saith unto Rebekah his mother, `Lo, Esau my brother a hairy man, and I a smooth man,

Disse Jacó a Rebeca, sua mãe: “Mas o meu irmão Esaú é homem peludo, e eu tenho a pele lisa.

12 i t may be my father doth feel me, and I have been in his eyes as a deceiver, and have brought upon me disesteem, and not a blessing;'

E se meu pai me apalpar? Vai parecer que estou tentando enganá-lo, fazendo-o de tolo e, em vez de bênção, trarei sobre mim maldição”.

13 a nd his mother saith to him, `On me thy disesteem, my son; only hearken to my voice, and go, take for me.'

Disse-lhe sua mãe: “Caia sobre mim a maldição, meu filho. Faça apenas o que eu digo: Vá e traga-os para mim”.

14 A nd he goeth, and taketh, and bringeth to his mother, and his mother maketh tasteful things, as his father hath loved;

Então ele foi, apanhou-os e os trouxe à sua mãe, que preparou uma comida saborosa, como seu pai apreciava.

15 a nd Rebekah taketh the desirable garments of Esau her elder son, which with her in the house, and doth put on Jacob her younger son;

Rebeca pegou as melhores roupas de Esaú, seu filho mais velho, roupas que tinha em casa, e colocou-as em Jacó, seu filho mais novo.

16 a nd the skins of the kids of the goats she hath put on his hands, and on the smooth of his neck,

Depois cobriu-lhe as mãos e a parte lisa do pescoço com as peles dos cabritos,

17 a nd she giveth the tasteful things, and the bread which she hath made, into the hand of Jacob her son.

e por fim entregou a Jacó a refeição saborosa e o pão que tinha feito.

18 A nd he cometh in unto his father, and saith, `My father;' and he saith, `Here I; who thou, my son?'

Ele se dirigiu ao pai e disse: “Meu pai”. Respondeu ele: “Sim, meu filho. Quem é você?”

19 A nd Jacob saith unto his father, `I Esau thy first-born; I have done as thou hast spoken unto me; rise, I pray thee, sit, and eat of my provision, so that thy soul doth bless me.'

Jacó disse a seu pai: “Sou Esaú, seu filho mais velho. Fiz como o senhor me disse. Agora, assente-se e coma do que cacei para que me abençoe”.

20 A nd Isaac saith unto his son, `What this thou hast hasted to find, my son?' and he saith, `That which Jehovah thy God hath caused to come before me.'

Isaque perguntou ao filho: “Como encontrou a caça tão depressa, meu filho?” Ele respondeu: “O Senhor, o seu Deus, a colocou no meu caminho”.

21 A nd Isaac saith unto Jacob, `Come nigh, I pray thee, and I feel thee, my son, whether thou he, my son Esau, or not.'

Então Isaque disse a Jacó: “Chegue mais perto, meu filho, para que eu possa apalpá-lo e saber se você é realmente meu filho Esaú”.

22 A nd Jacob cometh nigh unto Isaac his father, and he feeleth him, and saith, `The voice the voice of Jacob, and the hands hands of Esau.'

Jacó aproximou-se do seu pai Isaque, que o apalpou e disse: “A voz é de Jacó, mas os braços são de Esaú”.

23 A nd he hath not discerned him, for his hands have been hairy, as the hands of Esau his brother, and he blesseth him,

Não o reconheceu, pois seus braços estavam peludos como os de Esaú, seu irmão; e o abençoou.

24 a nd saith, `Thou art he -- my son Esau?' and he saith, `I.'

Isaque perguntou-lhe outra vez: “Você é mesmo meu filho Esaú?” E ele respondeu: “Sou”.

25 A nd he saith, `Bring nigh to me, and I do eat of my son's provision, so that my soul doth bless thee;' and he bringeth nigh to him, and he eateth; and he bringeth to him wine, and he drinketh.

Então lhe disse: “Meu filho, traga-me da sua caça para que eu coma e o abençoe”. Jacó a trouxe, e seu pai comeu; também trouxe vinho, e ele bebeu.

26 A nd Isaac his father saith to him, `Come nigh, I pray thee, and kiss me, my son;'

Então seu pai Isaque lhe disse: “Venha cá, meu filho, dê-me um beijo”.

27 a nd he cometh nigh, and kisseth him, and he smelleth the fragrance of his garments, and blesseth him, and saith, `See, the fragrance of my son as the fragrance of a field which Jehovah hath blessed;

Ele se aproximou e o beijou. Quando sentiu o cheiro de suas roupas, Isaque o abençoou, dizendo: “Ah, o cheiro de meu filho é como o cheiro de um campo que o Senhor abençoou.

28 a nd God doth give to thee of the dew of heaven, and of the fatness of the earth, and abundance of corn and wine;

Que Deus lhe conceda do céu o orvalho e da terra a riqueza, com muito cereal e muito vinho.

29 p eoples serve thee, and nations bow themselves to thee, be thou mighty over thy brethren, and the sons of thy mother bow themselves to thee; those who curse thee cursed, and those who bless thee blessed.'

Que as nações o sirvam e os povos se curvem diante de você. Seja senhor dos seus irmãos, e curvem-se diante de você os filhos de sua mãe. Malditos sejam os que o amaldiçoarem e benditos sejam os que o abençoarem”.

30 A nd it cometh to pass, as Isaac hath finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob is only just going out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother hath come in from his hunting;

Quando Isaque acabou de abençoar Jacó, mal tendo ele saído da presença do pai, seu irmão Esaú chegou da caçada.

31 a nd he also maketh tasteful things, and bringeth to his father, and saith to his father, `Let my father arise, and eat of his son's provision, so that thy soul doth bless me.'

Ele também preparou uma comida saborosa e a trouxe a seu pai. E lhe disse: “Meu pai, levante-se e coma da minha caça, para que o senhor me dê sua bênção”.

32 A nd Isaac his father saith to him, `Who thou?' and he saith, `I thy son, thy first-born, Esau;'

Perguntou-lhe seu pai Isaque: “Quem é você?” Ele respondeu: “Sou Esaú, seu filho mais velho”.

33 a nd Isaac trembleth a very great trembling, and saith, `Who, now, he who hath provided provision, and bringeth in to me, and I eat of all before thou comest in, and I bless him? -- yea, blessed is he.'

Profundamente abalado, Isaque começou a tremer muito e disse: “Quem então apanhou a caça e a trouxe para mim? Acabei de comê-la antes de você entrar e a ele abençoei; e abençoado ele será!”

34 W hen Esau heareth the words of his father, then he crieth a very great and bitter cry, and saith to his father, `Bless me, me also, O my father;'

Quando Esaú ouviu as palavras de seu pai, deu um forte grito e, cheio de amargura, implorou ao pai: “Abençoe também a mim, meu pai!”

35 a nd he saith, `Thy brother hath come with subtilty, and taketh thy blessing.'

Mas ele respondeu: “Seu irmão chegou astutamente e recebeu a bênção que pertencia a você”.

36 A nd he saith, `Is it because called his name Jacob that he doth take me by the heel these two times? my birthright he hath taken; and lo, now, he hath taken my blessing;' he saith also, `Hast thou not kept back a blessing for me?'

E disse Esaú: “Não é com razão que o seu nome é Jacó? Já é a segunda vez que ele me engana! Primeiro tomou o meu direito de filho mais velho, e agora recebeu a minha bênção!” Então perguntou ao pai: “O senhor não reservou nenhuma bênção para mim?”

37 A nd Isaac answereth and saith to Esau, `Lo, a mighty one have I set him over thee, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants, and corn and wine have I sustained him; and for thee now, what shall I do, my son?'

Isaque respondeu a Esaú: “Eu o constituí senhor sobre você, e a todos os seus parentes tornei servos dele; a ele supri de cereal e de vinho. Que é que eu poderia fazer por você, meu filho?”

38 A nd Esau saith unto his father, `One blessing hast thou my father? bless me, me also, O my father;' and Esau lifteth up his voice, and weepeth.

Esaú pediu ao pai: “Meu pai, o senhor tem apenas uma bênção? Abençoe-me também, meu pai!” Então chorou Esaú em alta voz.

39 A nd Isaac his father answereth and saith unto him, `Lo, of the fatness of the earth is thy dwelling, and of the dew of the heavens from above;

Seu pai Isaque respondeu-lhe: “Sua habitação será longe das terras férteis, distante do orvalho que desce do alto céu.

40 a nd by thy sword dost thou live, and thy brother dost thou serve; and it hath come to pass when thou rulest, that thou hast broken his yoke from off thy neck.'

Você viverá por sua espada e servirá a seu irmão. Mas quando você não suportar mais, arrancará do pescoço o jugo”. A Fuga de Jacó

41 A nd Esau hateth Jacob, because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau saith in his heart, `The days of mourning my father draw near, and I slay Jacob my brother.'

Esaú guardou rancor contra Jacó por causa da bênção que seu pai lhe dera. E disse a si mesmo: “Os dias de luto pela morte de meu pai estão próximos; então matarei meu irmão Jacó”.

42 A nd the words of Esau her elder son are declared to Rebekah, and she sendeth and calleth for Jacob her younger son, and saith unto him, `Lo, Esau thy brother is comforting himself in regard to thee -- to slay thee;

Quando contaram a Rebeca o que seu filho Esaú dissera, ela mandou chamar Jacó, seu filho mais novo, e lhe disse: “Esaú está se consolando com a idéia de matá-lo.

43 a nd now, my son, hearken to my voice, and rise, flee for thyself unto Laban my brother, to Haran,

Ouça, pois, o que lhe digo, meu filho: Fuja imediatamente para a casa de meu irmão Labão, em Harã.

44 a nd thou hast dwelt with him some days, till thy brother's fury turn back,

Fique com ele algum tempo, até que passe o furor de seu irmão.

45 t ill thy brother's anger turn back from thee, and he hath forgotten that which thou hast done to him, and I have sent and taken thee from thence; why am I bereaved even of you both the same day?'

Quando seu irmão não estiver mais irado contra você e esquecer o que você lhe fez, mandarei buscá-lo. Por que perderia eu vocês dois num só dia?”

46 A nd Rebekah saith unto Isaac, `I have been disgusted with my life because of the presence of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these -- from the daughters of the land -- why do I live?'

Então Rebeca disse a Isaque: “Estou desgostosa da vida, por causa destas mulheres hititas. Se Jacó escolher esposa entre as mulheres desta terra, entre mulheres hititas como estas, perderei a razão de viver”.
