2 T he good bringeth forth favour from Jehovah, And the man of wicked devices He condemneth.

O homem bom obtém o favor do Senhor, mas o que planeja maldades o Senhor condena.

3 A man is not established by wickedness, And the root of the righteous is not moved.

Ninguém consegue se firmar mediante a impiedade, e não se pode desarraigar o justo.

4 A virtuous woman a crown to her husband, And as rottenness in his bones one causing shame.

A mulher exemplar é a coroa do seu marido, mas a de comportamento vergonhoso é como câncer em seus ossos.

5 T he thoughts of the righteous justice, The counsels of the wicked -- deceit.

Os planos dos justos são retos, mas o conselho dos ímpios é enganoso.

6 T he words of the wicked: `Lay wait for blood,' And the mouth of the upright delivereth them.

As palavras dos ímpios são emboscadas mortais, mas quando os justos falam há livramento.

7 O verthrow the wicked, and they are not, And the house of the righteous standeth.

Os ímpios são derrubados e desaparecem, mas a casa dos justos permanece firme.

8 A ccording to his wisdom is a man praised, And the perverted of heart becometh despised.

O homem é louvado segundo a sua sabedoria, mas o que tem o coração perverso é desprezado.

9 B etter the lightly esteemed who hath a servant, Than the self-honoured who lacketh bread.

Melhor é não ser ninguém e, ainda assim, ter quem o sirva, do que fingir ser alguém e não ter comida.

10 T he righteous knoweth the life of his beast, And the mercies of the wicked cruel.

O justo cuida bem dos seus rebanhos, mas até os atos mais bondosos dos ímpios são cruéis.

11 W hoso is tilling the ground is satisfied bread, And whoso is pursuing vanities is lacking heart,

Quem trabalha a sua terra terá fartura de alimento, mas quem vai atrás de fantasias não tem juízo.

12 T he wicked hath desired the net of evil doers, And the root of the righteous giveth.

Os ímpios cobiçam o despojo tomado pelos maus, mas a raiz do justo floresce.

13 I n transgression of the lips the snare of the wicked, And the righteous goeth out from distress.

O mau se enreda em seu falar pecaminoso, mas o justo não cai nessas dificuldades.

14 F rom the fruit of the mouth one satisfied good, And the deed of man's hands returneth to him.

Do fruto de sua boca o homem se beneficia, e o trabalho de suas mãos será recompensado.

15 T he way of a fool right in his own eyes, And whoso is hearkening to counsel wise.

O caminho do insensato parece-lhe justo, mas o sábio ouve os conselhos.

16 T he fool -- in a day is his anger known, And the prudent is covering shame.

O insensato revela de imediato o seu aborrecimento, mas o homem prudente ignora o insulto.

17 W hoso uttereth faithfulness declareth righteousness, And a false witness -- deceit.

A testemunha fiel dá testemunho honesto, mas a testemunha falsa conta mentiras.

18 A rash speaker is like piercings of a sword, And the tongue of the wise is healing.

Há palavras que ferem como espada, mas a língua dos sábios traz a cura.

19 T he lip of truth is established for ever, And for a moment -- a tongue of falsehood.

Os lábios que dizem a verdade permanecem para sempre, mas a língua mentirosa dura apenas um instante.

20 D eceit in the heart of those devising evil, And to those counselling peace joy.

O engano está no coração dos que maquinam o mal, mas a alegria está entre os que promovem a paz.

21 N o iniquity is desired by the righteous, And the wicked have been full of evil.

Nenhum mal atingirá o justo, mas os ímpios estão cobertos de problemas.

22 A n abomination to Jehovah lying lips, And stedfast doers his delight.

O Senhor odeia os lábios mentirosos, mas se deleita com os que falam a verdade.

23 A prudent man is concealing knowledge, And the heart of fools proclaimeth folly.

O homem prudente não alardeia o seu conhecimento, mas o coração dos tolos derrama insensatez.

24 T he hand of the diligent ruleth, And slothfulness becometh tributary.

As mãos diligentes governarão, mas os preguiçosos acabarão escravos.

25 S orrow in the heart of a man boweth down, And a good word maketh him glad.

O coração ansioso deprime o homem, mas uma palavra bondosa o anima.

26 T he righteous searcheth his companion, And the way of the wicked causeth them to err.

O homem honesto é cauteloso em suas amizades, mas o caminho dos ímpios os leva a perder-se.

27 T he slothful roasteth not his hunting, And the wealth of a diligent man is precious.

O preguiçoso não aproveita a sua caça, mas o diligente dá valor a seus bens.

28 I n the path of righteousness life, And in the way of path no death!

No caminho da justiça está a vida; essa é a vereda que nos preserva da morte.
