1 ` For the reign of the heavens is like to a man, a householder, who went forth with the morning to hire workmen for his vineyard,

“Pois o Reino dos céus é como um proprietário que saiu de manhã cedo para contratar trabalhadores para a sua vinha.

2 a nd having agreed with the workmen for a denary a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

Ele combinou pagar-lhes um denário pelo dia e mandou-os para a sua vinha.

3 ` And having gone forth about the third hour, he saw others standing in the market-place idle,

“Por volta das noves hora da manhã, ele saiu e viu outros que estavam desocupados na praça,

4 a nd to these he said, Go ye -- also ye -- to the vineyard, and whatever may be righteous I will give you;

e lhes disse: ‘Vão também trabalhar na vinha, e eu lhes pagarei o que for justo’.

5 a nd they went away. `Again, having gone forth about the sixth and the ninth hour, he did in like manner.

E eles foram. “Saindo outra vez, por volta do meio-dia e das três horas da tarde, fez a mesma coisa.

6 A nd about the eleventh hour, having gone forth, he found others standing idle, and saith to them, Why here have ye stood all the day idle?

Saindo por volta das cinco horas da tarde, encontrou ainda outros que estavam desocupados e lhes perguntou: ‘Por que vocês estiveram aqui desocupados o dia todo?’

7 t hey say to him, Because no one did hire us; he saith to them, Go ye -- ye also -- to the vineyard, and whatever may be righteous ye shall receive.

‘Porque ninguém nos contratou’, responderam eles. “Ele lhes disse: ‘Vão vocês também trabalhar na vinha’.

8 ` And evening having come, the lord of the vineyard saith to his steward, Call the workmen, and pay them the reward, having begun from the last -- unto the first.

“Ao cair da tarde, o dono da vinha disse a seu administrador: ‘Chame os trabalhadores e pague-lhes o salário, começando com os últimos contratados e terminando nos primeiros’.

9 A nd they of about the eleventh hour having come, did receive each a denary.

“Vieram os trabalhadores contratados por volta das cinco horas da tarde, e cada um recebeu um denário.

10 ` And the first having come, did suppose that they shall receive more, and they received, they also, each a denary,

Quando vieram os que tinham sido contratados primeiro, esperavam receber mais. Mas cada um deles também recebeu um denário.

11 a nd having received, they were murmuring against the householder, saying,

Quando o receberam, começaram a se queixar do proprietário da vinha,

12 t hat These, the last, wrought one hour, and thou didst make them equal to us, who were bearing the burden of the day -- and the heat.

dizendo-lhe: ‘Estes homens contratados por último trabalharam apenas uma hora, e o senhor os igualou a nós, que suportamos o peso do trabalho e o calor do dia’.

13 ` And he answering said to one of them, Comrade, I do no unrighteousness to thee; for a denary didst not thou agree with me?

“Mas ele respondeu a um deles: ‘Amigo, não estou sendo injusto com você. Você não concordou em trabalhar por um denário?

14 t ake that which is thine, and go; and I will to give to this, the last, also as to thee;

Receba o que é seu e vá. Eu quero dar ao que foi contratado por último o mesmo que lhe dei.

15 i s it not lawful to me to do what I will in mine own? is thine eye evil because I am good?

Não tenho o direito de fazer o que quero com o meu dinheiro? Ou você está com inveja porque sou generoso?’

16 S o the last shall be first, and the first last, for many are called, and few chosen.'

“Assim, os últimos serão primeiros, e os primeiros serão últimos”. Jesus Prediz Novamente sua Morte e Ressurreição

17 A nd Jesus going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples by themselves in the way, and said to them,

Enquanto estava subindo para Jerusalém, Jesus chamou em particular os doze discípulos e lhes disse:

18 ` Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes,

“Estamos subindo para Jerusalém, e o Filho do homem será entregue aos chefes dos sacerdotes e aos mestres da lei. Eles o condenarão à morte

19 a nd they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the nations to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify, and the third day he will rise again.'

e o entregarão aos gentios para que zombem dele, o açoitem e o crucifiquem. No terceiro dia ele ressuscitará!” O Pedido de uma Mãe

20 T hen came near to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing and asking something from him,

Então, aproximou-se de Jesus a mãe dos filhos de Zebedeu com seus filhos e, prostrando-se, fez-lhe um pedido.

21 a nd he said to her, `What wilt thou?' She saith to him, `Say, that they may sit -- these my two sons -- one on thy right hand, and one on the left, in thy reign.'

“O que você quer?”, perguntou ele. Ela respondeu: “Declara que no teu Reino estes meus dois filhos se assentarão um à tua direita e o outro à tua esquerda”.

22 A nd Jesus answering said, `Ye have not known what ye ask for yourselves; are ye able to drink of the cup that I am about to drink? and with the baptism that I am baptized with, to be baptized?' They say to him, `We are able.'

Disse-lhes Jesus: “Vocês não sabem o que estão pedindo. Podem vocês beber o cálice que eu vou beber?” “Podemos”, responderam eles.

23 A nd he saith to them, `Of my cup indeed ye shall drink, and with the baptism that I am baptized with ye shall be baptized; but to sit on my right hand and on my left is not mine to give, but -- to those for whom it hath been prepared by my father.'

Jesus lhes disse: “Certamente vocês beberão do meu cálice; mas o assentar-se à minha direita ou à minha esquerda não cabe a mim conceder. Esses lugares pertencem àqueles para quem foram preparados por meu Pai”.

24 A nd the ten having heard, were much displeased with the two brothers,

Quando os outros dez ouviram isso, ficaram indignados com os dois irmãos.

25 a nd Jesus having called them near, said, `Ye have known that the rulers of the nations do exercise lordship over them, and those great do exercise authority over them,

Jesus os chamou e disse: “Vocês sabem que os governantes das nações as dominam, e as pessoas importantes exercem poder sobre elas.

26 b ut not so shall it be among you, but whoever may will among you to become great, let him be your ministrant;

Não será assim entre vocês. Ao contrário, quem quiser tornar-se importante entre vocês deverá ser servo,

27 a nd whoever may will among you to be first, let him be your servant;

e quem quiser ser o primeiro deverá ser escravo;

28 e ven as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.'

como o Filho do homem, que não veio para ser servido, mas para servir e dar a sua vida em resgate por muitos”. Dois Cegos Recuperam a Visão

29 A nd they going forth from Jericho, there followed him a great multitude,

Ao saírem de Jericó, uma grande multidão seguiu Jesus.

30 a nd lo, two blind men sitting by the way, having heard that Jesus doth pass by, cried, saying, `Deal kindly with us, sir -- Son of David.'

Dois cegos estavam sentados à beira do caminho e, quando ouviram falar que Jesus estava passando, puseram-se a gritar: “Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de nós!”

31 A nd the multitude charged them that they might be silent, and they cried out the more, saying, `Deal kindly with us sir -- Son of David.'

A multidão os repreendeu para que ficassem quietos, mas eles gritavam ainda mais: “Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de nós!”

32 A nd having stood, Jesus called them, and said, `What will ye I may do to you?'

Jesus, parando, chamou-os e perguntou-lhes: “O que vocês querem que eu lhes faça?”

33 t hey say to him, `Sir, that our eyes may be opened;'

Responderam eles: “Senhor, queremos que se abram os nossos olhos”.

34 a nd having been moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Jesus teve compaixão deles e tocou nos olhos deles. Imediatamente eles recuperaram a visão e o seguiram.
