1 ` There is not to the priests the Levites -- all the tribe of Levi -- a portion and inheritance with Israel; fire-offerings of Jehovah, even His inheritance, they eat,

“Os sacerdotes levitas e todo o restante da tribo de Levi não terão posse nem herança em Israel. Viverão das ofertas sacrificadas para o Senhor, preparadas no fogo, pois esta é a sua herança.

2 a nd he hath no inheritance in the midst of his brethren; Jehovah Himself his inheritance, as He hath spoken to him.

Não terão herança alguma entre os seus compatriotas; o Senhor é a sua herança, conforme lhes prometeu.

3 ` And this is the priest's right from the people, from those sacrificing a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep, he hath even given to the priest the leg, and the two cheeks, and the stomach;

“Quando o povo sacrificar um novilho ou uma ovelha, os sacerdotes receberão a porção devida: a espádua, a queixada e o estômago.

4 t he first of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy flock, thou dost give to him;

Vocês terão que dar-lhes as primícias do trigo, do vinho e do azeite, e a primeira lã da tosquia das ovelhas,

5 f or on him hath Jehovah thy God fixed, out of all thy tribes, to stand to serve in the name of Jehovah, He and his sons continually.

pois, de todas as tribos, o Senhor, o seu Deus, escolheu os levitas e os seus descendentes para estarem na presença do Senhor e para ministrarem sempre em seu nome.

6 ` And when the Levite cometh from one of thy cities out of all Israel, where he hath sojourned, and hath come with all the desire of his soul unto the place which Jehovah doth choose,

“Se um levita que estiver morando em qualquer cidade de Israel desejar ir ao local escolhido pelo Senhor,

7 t hen he hath ministered in the name of Jehovah his God, like all his brethren, the Levites, who are standing there before Jehovah,

poderá ministrar em nome do Senhor, o seu Deus, à semelhança de todos os outros levitas que ali servem na presença do Senhor.

8 p ortion as portion they do eat, apart from his sold things, with the fathers.

Ele receberá uma porção de alimento igual à dos outros levitas; além disso, ficará com o que receber com a venda dos bens da sua família. Advertência contra Práticas Pagãs

9 ` When thou art coming in unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee, thou dost not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations:

“Quando entrarem na terra que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes dá, não procurem imitar as coisas repugnantes que as nações de lá praticam.

10 t here is not found in thee one causing his son and his daughter to pass over into fire, a user of divinations, an observer of clouds, and an enchanter, and a sorcerer,

Não permitam que se ache alguém entre vocês que queime em sacrifício o seu filho ou a sua filha; que pratique adivinhação, ou se dedique à magia, ou faça presságios, ou pratique feitiçaria

11 a nd a charmer, and one asking at a familiar spirit, and a wizard, and one seeking unto the dead.

ou faça encantamentos; que seja médium, consulte os espíritos ou consulte os mortos.

12 ` For the abomination of Jehovah every one doing these, and because of these abominations is Jehovah thy God dispossessing them from thy presence.

O Senhor tem repugnância por quem pratica essas coisas, e é por causa dessas abominações que o Senhor, o seu Deus, vai expulsar aquelas nações da presença de vocês.

13 P erfect thou art with Jehovah thy God,

Permaneçam inculpáveis perante o Senhor, o seu Deus. O Profeta do Senhor

14 f or these nations whom thou art possessing, unto observers of clouds, and unto diviners, do hearken; and thou -- not so hath Jehovah thy God suffered thee.

“As nações que vocês vão expulsar dão ouvidos aos que praticam magia e adivinhação. Mas, a vocês, o Senhor, o seu Deus, não permitiu tais práticas.

15 ` A prophet out of thy midst, out of thy brethren, like to me, doth Jehovah thy God raise up to thee -- unto him ye hearken;

O Senhor, o seu Deus, levantará do meio de seus próprios irmãos um profeta como eu; ouçam-no.

16 a ccording to all that thou didst ask from Jehovah thy God, in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not add to hear the voice of Jehovah my God, and this great fire let me not see any more, and I die not;

Pois foi isso que pediram ao Senhor, o seu Deus, em Horebe, no dia em que se reuniram, quando disseram: ‘Não queremos ouvir a voz do Senhor, do nosso Deus, nem ver o seu grande fogo, se não morreremos!’

17 a nd Jehovah saith unto me, They have done well that they have spoken;

“O Senhor me disse: ‘Eles têm razão!

18 a prophet I raise up to them, out of the midst of their brethren, like to thee; and I have given my words in his mouth, and he hath spoken unto them all that which I command him;

Levantarei do meio dos seus irmãos um profeta como você; porei minhas palavras na sua boca, e ele lhes dirá tudo o que eu lhe ordenar.

19 a nd it hath been -- the man who doth not hearken unto My words which he doth speak in My name, I require of him.

Se alguém não ouvir as minhas palavras, que o profeta falará em meu nome, eu mesmo lhe pedirei contas.

20 ` Only, the prophet who presumeth to speak a word in My name -- that which I have not commanded him to speak -- and who speaketh in the name of other gods -- even that prophet hath died.

Mas o profeta que ousar falar em meu nome alguma coisa que não lhe ordenei, ou que falar em nome de outros deuses, terá que ser morto’.

21 ` And when thou sayest in thy heart, How do we know the word which Jehovah hath not spoken? --

“Mas talvez vocês perguntem a si mesmos: ‘Como saberemos se uma mensagem não vem do Senhor ?’

22 t hat which the prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, and the thing is not, and cometh not -- it the word which Jehovah hath not spoken; in presumption hath the prophet spoken it; -- thou art not afraid of him.

Se o que o profeta proclamar em nome do Senhor não acontecer nem se cumprir, essa mensagem não vem do Senhor. Aquele profeta falou com presunção. Não tenham medo dele.
