1 A nd having gone to the boat, he passed over, and came to his own city,

Entrando Jesus num barco, atravessou o mar e foi para a sua cidade.

2 a nd lo, they were bringing to him a paralytic, laid upon a couch, and Jesus having seen their faith, said to the paralytic, `Be of good courage, child, thy sins have been forgiven thee.'

Alguns homens trouxeram-lhe um paralítico, deitado em sua maca. Vendo a fé que eles tinham, Jesus disse ao paralítico: “Tenha bom ânimo, filho; os seus pecados estão perdoados”.

3 A nd lo, certain of the scribes said within themselves, `This one doth speak evil.'

Diante disso, alguns mestres da lei disseram a si mesmos: “Este homem está blasfemando!”

4 A nd Jesus, having known their thoughts, said, `Why think ye evil in your hearts?

Conhecendo Jesus seus pensamentos, disse-lhes: “Por que vocês pensam maldosamente em seu coração?

5 f or which is easier? to say, The sins have been forgiven to thee; or to say, Rise, and walk?

Que é mais fácil dizer: ‘Os seus pecados estão perdoados’, ou: ‘Levante-se e ande’?

6 ` But, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon the earth to forgive sins -- (then saith he to the paralytic) -- having risen, take up thy couch, and go to thy house.'

Mas, para que vocês saibam que o Filho do homem tem na terra autoridade para perdoar pecados” — disse ao paralítico: “Levante-se, pegue a sua maca e vá para casa”.

7 A nd he, having risen, went to his house,

Ele se levantou e foi.

8 a nd the multitudes having seen, wondered, and glorified God, who did give such power to men.

Vendo isso, a multidão ficou cheia de temor e glorificou a Deus, que dera tal autoridade aos homens. O Chamado de Mateus

9 A nd Jesus passing by thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, named Matthew, and saith to him, `Be following me,' and he, having risen, did follow him.

Saindo, Jesus viu um homem chamado Mateus, sentado na coletoria, e disse-lhe: “Siga-me”. Mateus levantou-se e o seguiu.

10 A nd it came to pass, he reclining (at meat) in the house, that lo, many tax-gatherers and sinners having come, were lying (at meat) with Jesus and his disciples,

Estando Jesus em casa, foram comer com ele e seus discípulos muitos publicanos e “pecadores”.

11 a nd the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, `Wherefore with the tax-gatherers and sinners doth your teacher eat?'

Vendo isso, os fariseus perguntaram aos discípulos dele: “Por que o mestre de vocês come com publicanos e ‘pecadores’?”

12 A nd Jesus having heard, said to them, `They who are whole have no need of a physician, but they who are ill;

Ouvindo isso, Jesus disse: “Não são os que têm saúde que precisam de médico, mas sim os doentes.

13 b ut having gone, learn ye what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

Vão aprender o que significa isto: ‘Desejo misericórdia, não sacrifícios’. Pois eu não vim chamar justos, mas pecadores”. Jesus é Interrogado acerca do Jejum

14 T hen come to him do the disciples of John, saying, `Wherefore do we and the Pharisees fast much, and thy disciples fast not?'

Então os discípulos de João vieram perguntar-lhe: “Por que nós e os fariseus jejuamos, mas os teus discípulos não?”

15 A nd Jesus said to them, `Can the sons of the bride-chamber mourn, so long as the bridegroom is with them? but days shall come when the bridegroom may be taken from them, and then they shall fast.

Jesus respondeu: “Como podem os convidados do noivo ficar de luto enquanto o noivo está com eles? Virão dias quando o noivo lhes será tirado; então jejuarão.

16 ` And no one doth put a patch of undressed cloth on an old garment, for its filling up doth take from the garment, and a worse rent is made.

“Ninguém põe remendo de pano novo em roupa velha, pois o remendo forçará a roupa, tornando pior o rasgo.

17 ` Nor do they put new wine into old skins, and if not -- the skins burst, and the wine doth run out, and the skins are destroyed, but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.'

Nem se põe vinho novo em vasilha de couro velha; se o fizer, a vasilha rebentará, o vinho se derramará e a vasilha se estragará. Ao contrário, põe-se vinho novo em vasilha de couro nova; e ambos se conservam”. O Poder de Jesus sobre a Doença e a Morte

18 W hile he is speaking these things to them, lo, a ruler having come, was bowing to him, saying that `My daughter just now died, but, having come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.'

Falava ele ainda quando um dos dirigentes da sinagoga chegou, ajoelhou-se diante dele e disse: “Minha filha acaba de morrer. Vem e impõe a tua mão sobre ela, e ela viverá”.

19 A nd Jesus having risen, did follow him, also his disciples,

Jesus levantou-se e foi com ele, e também os seus discípulos.

20 a nd lo, a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, having come to him behind, did touch the fringe of his garments,

Nisso uma mulher que havia doze anos vinha sofrendo de hemorragia, chegou por trás dele e tocou na borda do seu manto,

21 f or she said within herself, `If only I may touch his garment, I shall be saved.'

pois dizia a si mesma: “Se eu tão-somente tocar em seu manto, ficarei curada”.

22 A nd Jesus having turned about, and having seen her, said, `Be of good courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee,' and the woman was saved from that hour.

Voltando-se, Jesus a viu e disse: “Ânimo, filha, a sua fé a curou! ” E desde aquele instante a mulher ficou curada.

23 A nd Jesus having come to the house of the ruler, and having seen the minstrels and the multitude making tumult,

Quando ele chegou à casa do dirigente da sinagoga e viu os flautistas e a multidão agitada,

24 h e saith to them, `Withdraw, for the damsel did not die, but doth sleep,' and they were deriding him;

disse: “Saiam! A menina não está morta, mas dorme”. Todos começaram a rir dele.

25 b ut, when the multitude was put forth, having gone in, he took hold of her hand, and the damsel arose,

Depois que a multidão se afastou, ele entrou e tomou a menina pela mão, e ela se levantou.

26 a nd the fame of this went forth to all the land.

A notícia deste acontecimento espalhou-se por toda aquela região. A Cura de Dois Cegos e de Um Mudo

27 A nd Jesus passing on thence, two blind men followed him, calling and saying, `Deal kindly with us, Son of David.'

Saindo Jesus dali, dois cegos o seguiram, clamando: “Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de nós!”

28 A nd he having come to the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus saith to them, `Believe ye that I am able to do this?' They say to him, `Yes, sir.'

Entrando ele em casa, os cegos se aproximaram, e ele lhes perguntou: “Vocês crêem que eu sou capaz de fazer isso?” Eles responderam: “Sim, Senhor!”

29 T hen touched he their eyes, saying, `According to your faith let it be to you,'

E ele, tocando nos olhos deles, disse: “Que lhes seja feito segundo a fé que vocês têm!”

30 a nd their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, `See, let no one know;'

E a visão deles foi restaurada. Então Jesus os advertiu severamente: “Cuidem para que ninguém saiba disso”.

31 b ut they, having gone forth, did spread his fame in all that land.

Eles, porém, saíram e espalharam a notícia por toda aquela região.

32 A nd as they are coming forth, lo, they brought to him a man dumb, a demoniac,

Enquanto eles se retiravam, foi levado a Jesus um homem endemoninhado que não podia falar.

33 a nd the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake, and the multitude did wonder, saying that `It was never so seen in Israel:'

Quando o demônio foi expulso, o mudo começou a falar. A multidão ficou admirada e disse: “Nunca se viu nada parecido em Israel!”

34 b ut the Pharisees said, `By the ruler of the demons he doth cast out the demons.'

Mas os fariseus diziam: “É pelo príncipe dos demônios que ele expulsa demônios”. Poucos São os Trabalhadores

35 A nd Jesus was going up and down all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the reign, and healing every sickness and every malady among the people.

Jesus ia passando por todas as cidades e povoados, ensinando nas sinagogas, pregando as boas novas do Reino e curando todas as enfermidades e doenças.

36 A nd having seen the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, that they were faint and cast aside, as sheep not having a shepherd,

Ao ver as multidões, teve compaixão delas, porque estavam aflitas e desamparadas, como ovelhas sem pastor.

37 t hen saith he to his disciples, `The harvest indeed abundant, but the workmen few;

Então disse aos seus discípulos: “A colheita é grande, mas os trabalhadores são poucos.

38 b eseech ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he may put forth workmen to His harvest.'

Peçam, pois, ao Senhor da colheita que envie trabalhadores para a sua colheita”.
