1 A nd Job answereth Jehovah and saith: --

Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor:

2 T hou hast known that all things Thou art able, And not withheld from Thee is device:

“Sei que podes fazer todas as coisas; nenhum dos teus planos pode ser frustrado.

3 ` Who this, hiding counsel without knowledge?' Therefore, I have declared, and understand not, Too wonderful for me, and I know not.

Tu perguntaste: ‘Quem é esse que obscurece o meu conselho sem conhecimento?’ Certo é que falei de coisas que eu não entendia, coisas tão maravilhosas que eu não poderia saber.

4 ` Hear, I pray thee, and I -- I do speak, I ask thee, and cause thou me to know.'

“Tu disseste: ‘Agora escute, e eu falarei; vou fazer-lhe perguntas, e você me responderá’.

5 B y the hearing of the ear I heard Thee, And now mine eye hath seen Thee.

Meus ouvidos já tinham ouvido a teu respeito, mas agora os meus olhos te viram.

6 T herefore do I loathe, And I have repented on dust and ashes.

Por isso menosprezo a mim mesmo e me arrependo no pó e na cinza”. Epílogo

7 A nd it cometh to pass after Jehovah's speaking these words unto Job, that Jehovah saith unto Eliphaz the Temanite, `Burned hath Mine anger against thee, and against thy two friends, because ye have not spoken concerning Me rightly, like My servant Job.

Depois que o Senhor disse essas palavras a Jó, disse também a Elifaz, de Temã: “Estou indignado com você e com os seus dois amigos, pois vocês não falaram o que é certo a meu respeito, como fez meu servo Jó.

8 A nd now, take to you seven bullocks and seven rams, and go ye unto My servant Job, and ye have caused a burnt-offering to ascend for you; and Job My servant doth pray for you, for surely his face I accept, so as not to do with you folly, because ye have not spoken concerning Me rightly, like My servant Job.

Vão agora até meu servo Jó, levem sete novilhos e sete carneiros, e com eles apresentem holocaustos em favor de vocês mesmos. Meu servo Jó orará por vocês; eu aceitarei a oração dele e não lhes farei o que vocês merecem pela loucura que cometeram. Vocês não falaram o que é certo a meu respeito, como fez meu servo Jó”.

9 A nd they go -- Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, Zophar the Naamathite -- and do as Jehovah hath spoken unto them; and Jehovah doth accept the face of Job.

Então Elifaz, de Temã, Bildade, de Suá, e Zofar, de Naamate, fizeram o que o Senhor lhes ordenara; e o Senhor aceitou a oração de Jó.

10 A nd Jehovah hath turned the captivity of Job in his praying for his friends, and Jehovah doth add all that Job hath -- to double.

Depois que Jó orou por seus amigos, o Senhor o tornou novamente próspero e lhe deu em dobro tudo o que tinha antes.

11 A nd come unto him do all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all his former acquaintances, and they eat bread with him in his house, and bemoan him, and comfort him concerning all the evil that Jehovah had brought upon him, and they gave to him each one kesitah, and each one ring of gold.

Todos os seus irmãos e irmãs, e todos os que o haviam conhecido anteriormente vieram comer com ele em sua casa. Eles o consolaram e o confortaram por todas as tribulações que o Senhor tinha trazido sobre ele, e cada um lhe deu uma peça de prata e um anel de ouro.

12 A nd Jehovah hath blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning, and he hath fourteen thousand of a flock, and six thousand camels, and a thousand pairs of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.

O Senhor abençoou o final da vida de Jó mais do que o início. Ele teve catorze mil ovelhas, seis mil camelos, mil juntas de boi e mil jumentos.

13 A nd he hath seven sons and three daughters;

Também teve ainda sete filhos e três filhas.

14 a nd he calleth the name of the one Jemima, and the name of the second Kezia, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.

À primeira filha deu o nome de Jemima, à segunda o de Quézia e à terceira o de Quéren-Hapuque.

15 A nd there have not been found women fair as the daughters of Job in all the land, and their father doth give to them an inheritance in the midst of their brethren.

Em parte alguma daquela terra havia mulheres tão bonitas como as filhas de Jó, e seu pai lhes deu herança junto com os seus irmãos.

16 A nd Job liveth after this a hundred and forty years, and seeth his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations;

Depois disso Jó viveu cento e quarenta anos; viu seus filhos e os descendentes deles até a quarta geração.

17 a nd Job dieth, aged and satisfied days.

E então morreu, em idade muito avançada.
