1 A nd the Pharisees and Sadducees having come, tempting, did question him, to shew to them a sign from the heaven,

Os fariseus e os saduceus aproximaram-se de Jesus e o puseram à prova, pedindo-lhe que lhes mostrasse um sinal do céu.

2 a nd he answering said to them, `Evening having come, ye say, Fair weather, for the heaven is red,

Ele respondeu: “Quando a tarde vem, vocês dizem: ‘Vai fazer bom tempo, porque o céu está vermelho’,

3 a nd at morning, Foul weather to-day, for the heaven is red -- gloomy; hypocrites, the face of the heavens indeed ye do know to discern, but the signs of the times ye are not able!

e de manhã: ‘Hoje haverá tempestade, porque o céu está vermelho e nublado’. Vocês sabem interpretar o aspecto do céu, mas não sabem interpretar os sinais dos tempos!

4 ` A generation evil and adulterous doth seek a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet;' and having left them he went away.

Uma geração perversa e adúltera pede um sinal miraculoso, mas nenhum sinal lhe será dado, a não ser o sinal de Jonas”. Então Jesus os deixou e retirou-se. O Fermento dos Fariseus e dos Saduceus

5 A nd his disciples having come to the other side, forgot to take loaves,

Indo os discípulos para o outro lado do mar, esqueceram-se de levar pão.

6 a nd Jesus said to them, `Beware, and take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees;'

Disse-lhes Jesus: “Estejam atentos e tenham cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus”.

7 a nd they were reasoning in themselves, saying, `Because we took no loaves.'

E eles discutiam entre si, dizendo: “É porque não trouxemos pão”.

8 A nd Jesus having known, said to them, `Why reason ye in yourselves, ye of little faith, because ye took no loaves?

Percebendo a discussão, Jesus lhes perguntou: “Homens de pequena fé, por que vocês estão discutindo entre si sobre não terem pão?

9 d o ye not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets ye took up?

Ainda não compreendem? Não se lembram dos cinco pães para os cinco mil e de quantos cestos vocês recolheram?

10 n or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

Nem dos sete pães para os quatro mil e de quantos cestos recolheram?

11 h ow do ye not understand that I did not speak to you of bread -- to take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?'

Como é que vocês não entendem que não era de pão que eu estava lhes falando? Tomem cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus e dos saduceus”.

12 T hen they understood that he did not say to take heed of the leaven of the bread, but of the teaching, of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Então entenderam que não estava lhes dizendo que tomassem cuidado com o fermento de pão, mas com o ensino dos fariseus e dos saduceus. A Confissão de Pedro

13 A nd Jesus, having come to the parts of Cesarea Philippi, was asking his disciples, saying, `Who do men say me to be -- the Son of Man?'

Chegando Jesus à região de Cesaréia de Filipe, perguntou aos seus discípulos: “Quem os outros dizem que o Filho do homem é?”

14 a nd they said, `Some, John the Baptist, and others, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.'

Eles responderam: “Alguns dizem que é João Batista; outros, Elias; e, ainda outros, Jeremias ou um dos profetas”.

15 H e saith to them, `And ye -- who do ye say me to be?'

“E vocês?”, perguntou ele. “Quem vocês dizem que eu sou?”

16 a nd Simon Peter answering said, `Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.'

Simão Pedro respondeu: “Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo”.

17 A nd Jesus answering said to him, `Happy art thou, Simon Bar-Jona, because flesh and blood did not reveal to thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.

Respondeu Jesus: “Feliz é você, Simão, filho de Jonas! Porque isto não lhe foi revelado por carne ou sangue, mas por meu Pai que está nos céus.

18 ` And I also say to thee, that thou art a rock, and upon this rock I will build my assembly, and gates of Hades shall not prevail against it;

E eu lhe digo que você é Pedro, e sobre esta pedra edificarei a minha igreja, e as portas do Hades não poderão vencê-la.

19 a nd I will give to thee the keys of the reign of the heavens, and whatever thou mayest bind upon the earth shall be having been bound in the heavens, and whatever thou mayest loose upon the earth shall be having been loosed in the heavens.'

Eu lhe darei as chaves do Reino dos céus; o que você ligar na terra terá sido ligado nos céus, e o que você desligar na terra terá sido desligado nos céus”.

20 T hen did he charge his disciples that they may say to no one that he is Jesus the Christ.

Então advertiu a seus discípulos que não contassem a ninguém que ele era o Cristo. Jesus Prediz sua Morte e Ressurreição

21 F rom that time began Jesus to shew to his disciples that it is necessary for him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be put to death, and the third day to rise.

Desde aquele momento Jesus começou a explicar aos seus discípulos que era necessário que ele fosse para Jerusalém e sofresse muitas coisas nas mãos dos líderes religiosos, dos chefes dos sacerdotes e dos mestres da lei, e fosse morto e ressuscitasse no terceiro dia.

22 A nd having taken him aside, Peter began to rebuke him, saying, `Be kind to thyself, sir; this shall not be to thee;'

Então Pedro, chamando-o à parte, começou a repreendê-lo, dizendo: “Nunca, Senhor! Isso nunca te acontecerá!”

23 a nd he having turned, said to Peter, `Get thee behind me, adversary! thou art a stumbling-block to me, for thou dost not mind the things of God, but the things of men.'

Jesus virou-se e disse a Pedro: “Para trás de mim, Satanás! Você é uma pedra de tropeço para mim, e não pensa nas coisas de Deus, mas nas dos homens”.

24 T hen said Jesus to his disciples, `If any one doth will to come after me, let him disown himself, and take up his cross, and follow me,

Então Jesus disse aos seus discípulos: “Se alguém quiser acompanhar-me, negue-se a si mesmo, tome a sua cruz e siga-me.

25 f or whoever may will to save his life, shall lose it, and whoever may lose his life for my sake shall find it,

Pois quem quiser salvar a sua vida, a perderá, mas quem perder a sua vida por minha causa, a encontrará.

26 f or what is a man profited if he may gain the whole world, but of his life suffer loss? or what shall a man give as an exchange for his life?

Pois, que adiantará ao homem ganhar o mundo inteiro e perder a sua alma? Ou, o que o homem poderá dar em troca de sua alma?

27 ` For, the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of his Father, with his messengers, and then he will reward each, according to his work.

Pois o Filho do homem virá na glória de seu Pai, com os seus anjos, e então recompensará a cada um de acordo com o que tenha feito.

28 V erily I say to you, there are certain of those standing here who shall not taste of death till they may see the Son of Man coming in his reign.'

Garanto-lhes que alguns dos que aqui se acham não experimentarão a morte antes de verem o Filho do homem vindo em seu Reino”.
