1 W o apostate sons, The affirmation of Jehovah! To do counsel, and not from Me, And to spread out a covering, and not of My spirit, So as to add sin to sin.

Ai dos filhos rebeldes, diz o Senhor, que tomam conselho, mas não de mim; e que fazem aliança, mas não pelo meu espírito, para acrescentarem pecado a pecado;

2 W ho are walking to go down to Egypt, And My mouth have not asked, To be strong in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt.

que se põem a caminho para descer ao Egito, sem pedirem o meu conselho; para se fortificarem com a força de Faraó, e para confiarem na sombra do Egito!

3 A nd the strength of Pharaoh Hath been to you for shame, And the trust in the shadow of Egypt confusion,

Portanto, a força de Faraó se vos tornará em vergonha, e a confiança na sombra do Egito em confusão.

4 F or in Zoan were his princes, And his messengers reach Hanes.

Pois embora os seus oficiais estejam em Zoã, e os seus embaixadores cheguem a Hanes,

5 A ll he made ashamed of a people that profit not, Neither for help, not for profit, But for shame, and also for reproach!

eles se envergonharão de um povo que de nada lhes servirá, nem de ajuda, nem de proveito, porém de vergonha como também de opróbrio.

6 T he burden of the beasts of the south. Into a land of adversity and distress, Of young lion and of old lion, Whence viper and flying saraph, They carry on the shoulder of asses their wealth, And on the hump of camels their treasures, Unto a people not profitable.

Oráculo contra a Besta do Sul. Através da terra de aflição e de angústia, de onde vem a leoa e o leão, o basilisco, a áspide e a serpente voadora, levam

7 Y ea, Egyptians vanity, and in vain do help, Therefore I have cried concerning this: `Their strength to sit still.'

Pois o Egito os ajuda em vão, e para nenhum fim; pelo que lhe tenho chamado Raabe que não se move.

8 N o, go in, write it on a tablet with them, And on a book engrave it, And it is for a latter day, for a witness unto the age,

Vai pois agora, escreve isso numa tábua perante eles, registra-o num livro; para que fique como testemunho para o tempo vindouro, para sempre.

9 T hat a rebellious people this, sons -- liars, Sons not willing to hear the law of Jehovah.

Pois este é um povo rebelde, filhos mentirosos, filhos que não querem ouvir a lei do Senhor;

10 W ho have said to seers, `Ye do not see,' And to prophets, `Ye do not prophesy to us Straightforward things, Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits,

que dizem aos videntes: Não vejais; e aos profetas: Não profetizeis para nós o que é reto; dizei-nos coisas aprazíveis, e profetizai-nos ilusões;

11 T urn aside from the way, decline from the path, Cause to cease from before us the Holy One of Israel.'

desviai-vos do caminho, apartai-vos da vereda; fazei que o Santo de Israel deixe de estar perante nós.

12 T herefore, thus said the Holy One of Israel, Because of your kicking against this word, And ye trust in oppression, And perverseness, and rely on it,

Pelo que assim diz o Santo de Israel: Visto como rejeitais esta palavra, e confiais na opressão e na perversidade, e sobre elas vos estribais,

13 T herefore is this iniquity to you as a breach falling, Swelled out in a wall set on high, Whose destruction suddenly, at an instant cometh.

por isso esta maldade vos será como brecha que, prestes a cair, já forma barriga num alto muro, cuja queda virá subitamente, num momento.

14 A nd He hath broken it As the breaking of the potters' bottle, Beaten down -- He doth not spare, Nor is there found, in its beating down, A potsherd to take fire from the burning, And to draw out waters from a ditch.

E ele o quebrará como se quebra o vaso do oleiro, despedaçando-o por completo, de modo que não se achará entre os seus pedaços um caco que sirva para tomar fogo da lareira, ou tirar água da poça.

15 F or thus said the Lord Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel: `In returning and rest ye are saved, In keeping quiet and in confidence is your might, And ye have not been willing.

Pois assim diz o Senhor Deus, o Santo de Israel: Voltando e descansando, sereis salvos; no sossego e na confiança estará a vossa força. Mas não quisestes;

16 A nd ye say, No, for on a horse we flee? Therefore ye flee, And on the swift we ride! Therefore swift are your pursuers.

antes dissestes: Não; porém sobre cavalos fugiremos; portanto fugireis; e: Sobre cavalos ligeiros cavalgaremos; portanto hão de ser ligeiros os vossos perseguidores.

17 O ne thousand because of the rebuke of one, Because of the rebuke of five ye flee, Till ye have been surely left as a pole On the top of the mountain, And as an ensign on the height.

Pela ameaça de um só fugirão mil; e pela ameaça de cinco vós fugireis; até que fiqueis como o mastro no cume do monte, e como o estandarte sobre o outeiro.

18 A nd therefore doth wait Jehovah to favour you, And therefore He is exalted to pity you, For a God of judgment Jehovah, O the blessedness of all waiting for Him.

Por isso o Senhor esperará, para ter misericórdia de vós; e por isso se levantará, para se compadecer de vós; porque o Senhor é um Deus de eqüidade; bem-aventurados todos os que por ele esperam.

19 F or the people in Zion dwell in Jerusalem, Weep thou not, weeping, Pitying, He pitieth thee at the voice of thy cry, When He heareth He answereth thee.

Na verdade o povo habitará em Sião, em Jerusalém; não chorarás mais; certamente se compadecerá de ti, ã voz do teu clamor; e, ouvindo-a, te responderá.

20 A nd the Lord hath given to you bread of adversity, And water of oppression. And thy directors remove no more, And thine eyes have seen thy directors,

Embora vos dê o Senhor pão de angústia e água de aperto, contudo não se esconderão mais os teus mestres; antes os teus olhos os verão;

21 A nd thine ear heareth a word behind thee, Saying, `This the way, go ye in it,' When ye turn to the right, And when ye turn to the left.

e os teus ouvidos ouvirão a palavra do que está por detrás de ti, dizendo: Este é o caminho, andai nele; quando vos desviardes para a direita ou para a esquerda.

22 A nd ye have defiled the covering of Thy graven images of silver, And the ephod of thy molten image of gold, Thou scatterest them as a sickening thing, `Go out,' thou sayest to it.

E contaminareis a cobertura de prata das tuas imagens esculpidas, e o revestimento de ouro das tuas imagens fundidas; e as lançarás fora como coisa imunda; e lhes dirás: Fora daqui.

23 A nd He hath given rain thy seed, With which thou dost sow the ground, And bread, the increase of the ground, And it hath been fat and plenteous, Enjoy do thy cattle in that day an enlarged pasture.

Então ele te dará chuva para a tua semente, com que semeares a terra, e trigo como produto da terra, o qual será pingue e abundante. Naquele dia o teu gado pastará em largos pastos.

24 A nd the oxen and the young asses serving the ground, Fermented provender do eat, That one is winnowing with shovel and fan.

Os bois e os jumentinhos que lavram a terra, comerão forragem com sal, que terá sido padejada com a pá e com o forcado,

25 A nd there hath been on every high mount, And on every exalted hill, Rivulets -- streams of waters, In a day of much slaughter, in the falling of towers.

Sobre todo monte alto, e todo outeiro elevado haverá ribeiros e correntes de águas, no dia da grande matança, quando caírem as torres.

26 A nd the light of the moon hath been as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun is sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day of Jehovah's binding up the breach of His people, When the stroke of its wound He healeth.

E a luz da lua será como a luz do sol, e a luz do sol sete vezes maior, como a luz de sete dias, no dia em que o Senhor atar a contusão do seu povo, e curar a chaga da sua ferida.

27 L o, the name of Jehovah is coming from far, Burning is His anger, and great the flame, His lips have been full of indignation, And His tongue as a devouring fire.

Eis que o nome do Senhor vem de longe ardendo na sua ira, e com densa nuvem de fumaça; os seus lábios estão cheios de indignação, e a sua língua é como um fogo consumidor;

28 A nd His breath as an overflowing stream, Unto the neck it divideth, To sift nations with a sieve of vanity, And a bridle causing to err, on the jaws of the peoples.

e a sua respiração é como o ribeiro transbordante, que chega até o pescoço, para peneirar as nações com peneira de destruição; e um freio de fazer errar estará nas queixadas dos povos.

29 S inging is to you as in a night sanctified for a festival, And joy of heart as he who is going with a pipe, To go in to the mountain of Jehovah, Unto the rock of Israel.

um cântico haverá entre vós, como na noite em que se celebra uma festa santa; e alegria de coração, como a daquele que sai ao som da flauta para vir ao monte do Senhor, ã Rocha de Israel.

30 A nd caused to be heard hath Jehovah The honour of His voice, And the coming down of His arm He doth shew with the raging of anger, And the flame of a consuming fire, Scattering, and inundation, and hailstone.

O Senhor fará ouvir a sua voz majestosa, e mostrará a descida do seu braço, na indignação da sua ira, e a labareda dum fogo consumidor, e tempestade forte, e dilúvio e pedra de saraiva.

31 F or from the voice of Jehovah broken down Asshur, With a rod He smiteth.

Com a voz do Senhor será desfeita em pedaços a Assíria, quando ele a ferir com a vara.

32 A nd every passage of the settled staff, That Jehovah causeth to rest on him, Hath been with tabrets, and with harps, And in battles of shaking he hath fought with it.

E a cada golpe do bordão de castigo, que o Senhor lhe der, haverá tamboris e harpas; e com combates de brandimento combaterá contra eles.

33 F or, arranged from former time is Tophet, Even it for the king is prepared, He hath made deep, He hath made large, Its pile fire and much wood, The breath of Jehovah, As a stream of brim stone, is burning in it!

Porque uma fogueira está, de há muito, preparada; sim, está preparada para o rei; fez-se profunda e larga; a sua pira é fogo, e tem muita lenha; o assopro do Senhor como torrente de enxofre a acende.
