1 ` When there is a strife between men, and they have come nigh unto the judgment, and they have judged, and declared righteous the righteous, and declared wrong the wrong-doer,

Se houver contenda entre alguns, e vierem a juízo para serem julgados, justificar-se-á ao inocente, e ao culpado condenar-se-á.

2 t hen it hath come to pass, if the wrong-doer is to be smitten, that the judge hath caused him to fall down, and hath smitten him in his presence, according to the sufficiency of his wrong-doing, by number;

E se o culpado merecer açoites, o juiz fará que ele se deite e seja açoitado na sua presença, de acordo com a gravidade da sua culpa.

3 f orty he doth smite him -- he is not adding, lest, he is adding to smite him above these -- many stripes, and thy brother is lightly esteemed in thine eyes.

Até quarenta açoites lhe poderá dar, não mais; para que, porventura, se lhe der mais açoites do que estes, teu irmão não fique envilecido aos teus olhos.

4 ` Thou dost not muzzle an ox in its threshing.

Não atarás a boca ao boi quando estiver debulhando.

5 ` When brethren dwell together, and one of them hath died, and hath no son, the wife of the dead is not without to a strange man; her husband's brother doth go in unto her, and hath taken her to him for a wife, and doth perform the duty of her husband's brother;

Se irmãos morarem juntos, e um deles morrer sem deixar filho, a mulher do falecido não se casará com homem estranho, de fora; seu cunhado estará com ela, e a tomará por mulher, fazendo a obrigação de cunhado para com ela.

6 a nd it hath been, the first-born which she beareth doth rise for the name of his dead brother, and his name is not wiped away out of Israel.

E o primogênito que ela lhe der sucederá ao nome do irmão falecido, para que o nome deste não se apague de Israel.

7 ` And if the man doth not delight to take his brother's wife, then hath his brother's wife gone up to the gate, unto the elders, and said, My husband's brother is refusing to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he hath not been willing to perform the duty of my husband's brother;

Mas, se o homem não quiser tomar sua cunhada, esta subirá ã porta, aos anciãos, e dirá: Meu cunhado recusa suscitar a seu irmão nome em Israel; não quer cumprir para comigo o dever de cunhado.

8 a nd the elders of his city have called for him, and spoken unto him, and he hath stood and said, I have no desire to take her;

Então os anciãos da sua cidade o chamarão, e falarão com ele. Se ele persistir, e disser: Não quero tomá-la;

9 ` Then hath his brother's wife drawn nigh unto him, before the eyes of the elders, and drawn his shoe from off his foot, and spat in his face, and answered and said, Thus it is done to the man who doth not build up the house of his brother;

sua cunhada se chegará a ele, na presença dos anciãos, e lhe descalçará o sapato do pé, e lhe cuspirá ao rosto, e dirá: Assim se fará ao homem que não edificar a casa de seu irmão.

10 a nd his name hath been called in Israel -- The house of him whose shoe is drawn off.

E sua casa será chamada em Israel a casa do descalçado.

11 ` When men strive together, one with another, and the wife of the one hath drawn near to deliver her husband out of the hand of his smiter, and hath put forth her hand, and laid hold on his secrets,

Quando pelejarem dois homens, um contra o outro, e a mulher de um chegar para livrar a seu marido da mão daquele que o fere, e ela, estendendo a mão, lhe pegar pelas suas vergonhas,

12 t hen thou hast cut off her hand, thine eye doth not spare.

decepar-lhe-á a mão; o teu olho não terá piedade dela.

13 ` Thou hast not in thy bag a stone and a stone, a great and a small.

Não terás na tua bolsa pesos diferentes, um grande e um pequeno.

14 T hou hast not in thy house an ephah and an ephah, a great and a small.

Não terás na tua casa duas efas, uma grande e uma pequena.

15 T hou hast a stone complete and just, thou hast an ephah complete and just, so that they prolong thy days on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee;

Terás peso inteiro e justo; terás efa inteira e justa; para que se prolonguem os teus dias na terra que o Senhor teu Deus te dá.

16 f or the abomination of Jehovah thy God any one doing these things, any one doing iniquity.

Porque é abominável ao Senhor teu Deus todo aquele que faz tais coisas, todo aquele que pratica a injustiça.

17 ` Remember that which Amalek hath done to thee in the way, in your going out from Egypt,

Lembra-te do que te fez Amaleque no caminho, quando saías do Egito;

18 t hat he hath met thee in the way, and smiteth in all those feeble behind thee (and thou wearied and fatigued), and is not fearing God.

como te saiu ao encontro no caminho e feriu na tua retaguarda todos os fracos que iam após ti, estando tu cansado e afadigado; e não temeu a Deus.

19 A nd it hath been, in Jehovah thy God's giving rest to thee, from all thine enemies round about, in the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- an inheritance to possess it -- thou dost blot out the rememberance of Amalek from under the heavens -- thou dost not forget.

Quando, pois, o Senhor teu Deus te houver dado repouso de todos os teus inimigos em redor, na terra que o Senhor teu Deus te dá por herança para a possuíres, apagarás a memória de Amaleque de debaixo do céu; não te esquecerás.
