1 F or every chief priest -- out of men taken -- in behalf of men is set in things to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins,

Porque todo sumo sacerdote tomado dentre os homens é constituído a favor dos homens nas coisas concernentes a Deus, para que ofereça dons e sacrifícios pelos pecados,

2 a ble to be gentle to those ignorant and going astray, since himself also is compassed with infirmity;

podendo ele compadecer-se devidamente dos ignorantes e errados, porquanto também ele mesmo está rodeado de fraqueza.

3 a nd because of this infirmity he ought, as for the people, so also for himself to offer for sins;

E por esta razão deve ele, tanto pelo povo como também por si mesmo, oferecer sacrifício pelos pecados.

4 a nd no one to himself doth take the honour, but he who is called by God, as also Aaron:

Ora, ninguém toma para si esta honra, senão quando é chamado por Deus, como o foi Arão.

5 s o also the Christ did not glorify himself to become chief priest, but He who spake unto him: `My Son thou art, I to-day have begotten thee;'

assim também Cristo não se glorificou a si mesmo, para se fazer sumo sacerdote, mas o glorificou aquele que lhe disse: Tu és meu Filho, hoje te gerei;

6 a s also in another He saith, `Thou a priest -- to the age, according to the order of Melchisedek;'

como também em outro lugar diz: Tu és sacerdote para sempre, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.

7 w ho in the days of his flesh both prayers and supplications unto Him who was able to save him from death -- with strong crying and tears -- having offered up, and having been heard in respect to that which he feared,

O qual nos dias da sua carne, tendo oferecido, com grande clamor e lágrimas, orações e súplicas ao que podia livrar da morte, e tendo sido ouvido por causa da sua reverência,

8 t hrough being a Son, did learn by the things which he suffered -- the obedience,

ainda que era Filho, aprendeu a obediência por meio daquilo que sofreu;

9 a nd having been made perfect, he did become to all those obeying him a cause of salvation age-during,

e, tendo sido aperfeiçoado, veio a ser autor de eterna salvação para todos os que lhe obedecem,

10 h aving been addressed by God a chief priest, according to the order of Melchisedek,

sendo por Deus chamado sumo sacerdote, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.

11 c oncerning whom we have much discourse and of hard explanation to say, since ye have become dull of hearing,

Sobre isso temos muito que dizer, mas de difícil interpretação, porquanto vos tornastes tardios em ouvir.

12 f or even owing to be teachers, because of the time, again ye have need that one teach you what the elements of the beginning of the oracles of God, and ye have become having need of milk, and not of strong food,

Porque, devendo já ser mestres em razão do tempo, ainda necessitais de que se vos torne a ensinar os princípios elementares dos oráculos de Deus, e vos haveis feito tais que precisais de leite, e não de alimento sólido.

13 f or every one who is partaking of milk unskilled in the word of righteousness -- for he is an infant,

Ora, qualquer que se alimenta de leite é inexperiente na palavra da justiça, pois é criança;

14 a nd of perfect men is the strong food, who because of the use are having the senses exercised, unto the discernment both of good and of evil.

mas o alimento sólido é para os adultos, os quais têm, pela prática, as faculdades exercitadas para discernir tanto o bem como o mal.
