1 A nd Naomi hath an acquaintance of her husband's, a man mighty in wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name Boaz.

Ora, tinha Noêmi um parente de seu marido, homem poderoso e rico, da família de Elimeleque; e ele se chamava Boaz.

2 A nd Ruth the Moabitess saith unto Naomi, `Let me go, I pray thee, into the field, and I gather among the ears of corn after him in whose eyes I find grace;' and she saith to her, `Go, my daughter.'

Rute, a moabita, disse a Noêmi: Deixa-me ir ao campo a apanhar espigas atrás daquele a cujos olhos eu achar graça. E ela lhe respondeu: Vai, minha filha.

3 A nd she goeth and cometh and gathereth in a field after the reapers, and her chance happeneth -- the portion of the field is Boaz's who of the family of Elimelech.

Foi, pois, e chegando ao campo respigava após os segadores; e caiu-lhe em sorte uma parte do campo de Boaz, que era da família de Elimeleque.

4 A nd lo, Boaz hath come from Beth-Lehem, and saith to the reapers, `Jehovah with you;' and they say to him, `Jehovah doth bless thee.'

E eis que Boaz veio de Belém, e disse aos segadores: O Senhor seja convosco. Responderam-lhe eles: O Senhor te abençoe.

5 A nd Boaz saith to his young man who is set over the reapers, `Whose this young person?'

Depois perguntou Boaz ao moço que estava posto sobre os segadores: De quem é esta moça?

6 A nd the young man who is set over the reapers answereth and saith, `A young woman -- Moabitess -- she, who came back with Naomi from the fields of Moab,

Respondeu-lhe o moço: Esta é a moça moabita que voltou com Noêmi do país de Moabe.

7 a nd she saith, Let me glean, I pray thee -- and I have gathered among the sheaves after the reapers; and she cometh and remaineth since the morning and till now; she sat in the house a little.

Disse-me ela: Deixa-me colher e ajuntar espigas por entre os molhos após os segadores: Assim ela veio, e está aqui desde pela manhã até agora, sem descansar nem sequer um pouco.

8 A nd Boaz saith unto Ruth, `Hast thou not heard, my daughter? go not to glean in another field, and also, pass not over from this, and thus thou dost cleave to my young women:

Então disse Boaz a Rute: Escuta filha minha; não vás colher em outro campo, nem tampouco passes daqui, mas ajunta-te

9 t hine eyes on the field which they reap, and thou hast gone after them; have not I charged the young men not to touch thee? when thou art athirst then thou hast gone unto the vessels, and hast drunk from that which the young men draw.'

Os teus olhos estarão atentos no campo que segarem, e irás após elas; não dei eu ordem aos moços, que não te molestem? Quando tiveres sede, vai aos vasos, e bebe do que os moços tiverem tirado.

10 A nd she falleth on her face, and boweth herself to the earth, and saith unto him, `Wherefore have I found grace in thine eyes, to discern me, and I a stranger?'

Então ela, inclinando-se e prostrando-se com o rosto em terra, perguntou-lhe: Por que achei eu graça aos teus olhos, para que faças caso de mim, sendo eu estrangeira?

11 A nd Boaz answereth and saith to her, `It hath thoroughly been declared to me all that thou hast done with thy mother-in-law, after the death of thy husband, and thou dost leave thy father, and thy mother, and the land of thy birth, and dost come in unto a people which thou hast not known heretofore.

Ao que lhe respondeu Boaz: Bem se me contou tudo quanto tens feito para com tua sogra depois da morte de teu marido; como deixaste a teu pai e a tua mãe, e a terra onde nasceste, e vieste para um povo que dantes não conhecias.

12 J ehovah doth recompense thy work, and thy reward is complete from Jehovah, God of Israel, under whose wings thou hast come to take refuge.'

O Senhor recompense o que fizeste, e te seja concedido pleno galardão da parte do Senhor Deus de Israel, sob cujas asas te vieste abrigar.

13 A nd she saith, `Let me find grace in thine eyes, my lord, because thou hast comforted me, and because thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy maid-servant, and I -- I am not as one of thy maid-servants.'

E disse ela: Ache eu graça aos teus olhos, senhor meu, pois me consolaste, e falaste bondosamente a tua serva, não sendo eu nem mesmo como uma das tuas criadas.

14 A nd Boaz saith to her, `At meal-time come nigh hither, and thou hast eaten of the bread, and dipped thy morsel in the vinegar.' And she sitteth at the side of the reapers, and he reacheth to her roasted corn, and she eateth, and is satisfied, and leaveth.

Também ã hora de comer, disse-lhe Boaz: Achega-te, come do pão e molha o teu bocado no vinagre. E, sentando-se ela ao lado dos segadores, ele lhe ofereceu grão tostado, e ela comeu e ficou satisfeita, e ainda lhe sobejou.

15 A nd she riseth to glean, and Boaz chargeth his young men, saying, `Even between the sheaves she doth glean, and ye do not cause her to blush;

Quando ela se levantou para respigar, Boaz deu ordem aos seus moços, dizendo: Até entre os molhos deixai-a respirar, e não a censureis.

16 a nd also ye do surely cast to her of the handfuls -- and have left, and she hath gleaned, and ye do not push against her.'

Também, tirai dos molhos algumas espigas e deixai-as ficar, para que as colha, e não a repreendais.

17 A nd she gleaneth in the field till the evening, and beateth out that which she hath gleaned, and it is about an ephah of barley;

Assim ela respigou naquele campo até a tarde; e debulhou o que havia apanhado e foi quase uma efa de cevada.

18 a nd she taketh up, and goeth into the city, and her mother-in-law seeth that which she hath gleaned, and she bringeth out and giveth to her that which she left from her satiety.

Então, carregando com a cevada, veio ã cidade; e viu sua sogra o que ela havia apanhado. Também Rute tirou e deu-lhe o que lhe sobejara depois de fartar-se.

19 A nd her mother-in-law saith to her, `Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? may he who is discerning thee be blessed.' And she declareth to her mother-in-law with whom she hath wrought, and saith, `The name of the man with whom I have wrought to-day Boaz.'

Ao que lhe perguntou sua sogra: Onde respigaste hoje, e onde trabalhaste? Bendito seja aquele que fez caso de ti. E ela relatou ã sua sogra com quem tinha trabalhado, e disse: O nome do homem com quem hoje trabalhei é Boaz.

20 A nd Naomi saith to her daughter-in-law, `Blessed he of Jehovah who hath not forsaken His kindness with the living and with the dead;' and Naomi saith to her, `The man is a relation of ours; he of our redeemers.'

Disse Noêmi a sua nora: Bendito seja ele do Senhor, que não tem deixado de misturar a sua beneficência nem para com os vivos nem para com os mortos. Disse-lhe mais Noêmi: Esse homem é parente nosso, um dos nossos remidores.

21 A nd Ruth the Moabitess saith, `Also he surely said unto me, Near the young people whom I have thou dost cleave till they have completed the whole of the harvest which I have.'

Respondeu Rute, a moabita: Ele me disse ainda: Seguirás de perto os meus moços até que tenham acabado toda a minha sega.

22 A nd Naomi saith unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, `Good, my daughter, that thou goest out with his young women, and they come not against thee in another field.'

Então disse Noêmi a sua nora, Rute: Bom é, filha minha, que saias com as suas moças, e que não te encontrem noutro campo.

23 A nd she cleaveth to the young women of Boaz to glean, till the completion of the barley-harvest, and of the wheat-harvest, and she dwelleth with her mother-in-law.

Assim se ajuntou com as moças de Boaz, para respigar até e fim da sega da cevada e do trigo; e morava com a sua sogra.
