1 A nd there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,

Depois de Abimeleque levantou-se, para livrar a Israel, Tola, filho de Puva, filho de Dodó, homem de Issacar, que habitava em Samir, na região montanhosa de Efraim.

2 a nd he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.

Ele julgou a Israel vinte e três anos; e morreu, e foi sepultado em Samir.

3 A nd there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,

Depois dele levantou-se Jair, gileadita, que julgou a Israel vinte e dois anos.

4 a nd he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which in the land of Gilead;

Ele tinha trinta filhos, que cavalgavam sobre trinta jumentos; e tinham estes trinta cidades, que se chamam Havote-Jair, até a dia de hoje, as quais estão na terra de Gileade.

5 a nd Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.

Morreu Jair, e foi sepultado em Camom.

6 A nd the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;

Então tornaram os filhos de Israel a fazer e que era mau aos olhos do Senhor, e serviram aos baalins, e

7 a nd the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,

Pelo que a ira do Senhor se acendeu contra Israel, e ele os vendeu na mão dos filisteus e na mão dos amonitas,

8 a nd they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year -- eighteen years all the sons of Israel are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which in Gilead.

os quais naquele mesmo ano começaram a vexá-los e oprimi-los. Por dezoito anos oprimiram a todos os filhos de Israel que estavam dalém do Jordão, na terra dos amorreus, que é em Gileade.

9 A nd the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.

E os amonitas passaram o Jordão, para pelejar também contra Judá e Benjamim, e contra a casa de Efraim, de maneira que Israel se viu muito angustiado.

10 A nd the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, `We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'

Então os filhos de Israel clamaram ao Senhor, dizendo: Pecamos contra ti, pois abandonamos o nosso Deus, e servimos aos baalins.

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, ` not from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?

O Senhor, porém, respondeu aos filhos de Israel: Porventura não vos livrei eu dos egipcios, dos amorreus, dos amonitas e dos filisteus?

12 A nd the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;

Também os sidônios, os amalequitas e os maonitas vos oprimiram; e, quando clamastes a mim, não vos livrei da sua mão?

13 a nd ye -- ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.

Contudo vós me deixastes a mim e servistes a outros deuses, pelo que não vos livrarei mais.

14 G o and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they -- they save you in the time of your adversity.'

Ide e clamai aos deuses que escolhestes; que eles vos livrem no tempo da vossa angústia.

15 A nd the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, `We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'

Mas os filhos de Israel disseram ao Senhor: Pecamos; fazes-nos conforme tudo quanto te parecer bem; tão-somente te rogamos que nos livres hoje.

16 A nd they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

E tiraram os deuses alheios do meio de si, e serviram ao Senhor, que se moveu de compaixão por causa da desgraça de Israel.

17 A nd the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.

Depois os amonitas se reuniram e acamparam em Gileade; também os filhos de Israel, reunindo-se, acamparam em Mizpá.

18 A nd the people -- heads of Gilead -- say one unto another, `Who the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'

Então o povo, isto é, os príncipes de Gileade disseram uns aos outros: Quem será o varão que começará a peleja contra os amonitas? esse será o chefe de todos os habitantes de Gileade.
