1 T hus said Jehovah, `Go down the house of the king of Judah, and thou hast spoken there this word, and hast said,

Assim diz o Senhor: Desce ã casa do rei de Judá, e anuncia ali esta palavra.

2 H ear a word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, who art sitting on the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people, who are coming in at these gates,

E dize: Ouve a palavra do Senhor, ó rei de Judá, que te assentas no trono de Davi; ouvi, tu, e os teus servos, e o teu povo, que entrais por estas portas.

3 T hus said Jehovah: Do ye judgment and righteousness, And deliver the plundered from the hand of the oppressor, And sojourner, orphan, and widow, ye do not oppress nor wrong, And innocent blood ye do not shed in this place.

Assim diz o Senhor: Exercei o juízo e a justiça, e livrai o espoliado da mão do opressor. Não façais nenhum mal ou violencia ao estrangeiro, nem ao orfão, nem a viúva; não derrameis sangue inocente neste lugar.

4 F or, if ye certainly do this thing, Then come in by the gates of this house Have kings sitting for David on his throne, Riding on chariot, and on horses, He, and his servants, and his people.

Pois se deveras cumprirdes esta palavra, entrarão pelas portas desta casa reis que se assentem sobre o trono de Davi, andando em carros e montados em cavalos, eles, e os seus servos, e o seu povo.

5 A nd if ye do not hear these words, By myself I have sworn -- an affirmation of Jehovah, That this house is for a desolation.

Mas se não derdes ouvidos a estas palavras, por mim mesmo tenho jurado, diz o Senhor, que esta casa se tornará em assolação.

6 F or thus said Jehovah, Concerning the house of the king of Judah: Gilead thou to Me -- head of Lebanon, If not -- I make thee a wilderness, Cities not inhabited.

Pois assim diz o Senhor acerca da casa do rei de Judá: Tu és para mim Gileade, e a cabeça do Líbano; todavia certamente farei de ti um deserto e cidades desabitadas.

7 A nd I have separated for thee destroyers, Each with his weapons, And they have cut down the choice of thy cedars, And have cast them on the fire.

E prepararei contra ti destruidores, cada um com as suas armas; os quais cortarão os teus cedros escolhidos, e os lançarão no fogo.

8 A nd many nations have passed by this city, And they have said, each to his neighbour, For what hath Jehovah done thus to this great city?

E muitas nações passarão por esta cidade, e dirá cada um ao seu companheiro: Por que procedeu o Senhor assim com esta grande cidade?

9 A nd they have said, `Because that they have forsaken The covenant of Jehovah their God, And bow themselves to other gods, and serve them.'

Então responderão: Porque deixaram o pacto do Senhor seu Deus, e adoraram a outros deuses, e os serviram.

10 Y e do not weep for the dead, nor bemoan for him, Weep ye sore for the traveller, For he doth not return again, Nor hath he seen the land of his birth.

Não choreis o morto, nem o lastimeis; mas chorai amargamente aquele que sai; porque não voltará mais, nem verá a terra onde nasceu.

11 F or thus said Jehovah concerning Shallum son of Josiah king of Judah, who is reigning instead of Josiah his father, who hath gone forth from this place: He doth not turn back hither again;

Pois assim diz o Senhor acerca de Salum, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, que reinou em lugar de Josias seu pai, que saiu deste lugar: Nunca mais voltará para cá,

12 F or in the place whither they have removed him he dieth, And this land he doth not see again.

mas no lugar para onde o levaram cativo morrerá, e nunca mais verá esta terra.

13 W o to him who is building his house by unrighteousness, And his upper chambers by injustice, On his neighbour he layeth service for nought, And his wage he doth not give to him.

Ai daquele que edifica a sua casa com iniqüidade, e os seus aposentos com injustiça; que se serve do trabalho do seu próximo sem remunerá-lo, e não lhe dá o salário;

14 W ho is saying, `I build for myself a large house, And airy upper chambers,' And he hath cut out for himself its windows, Ceiled with cedar, and painted with vermillion.

que diz: Edificarei para mim uma casa espaçosa, e aposentos largos; e que lhe abre janelas, forrando-a de cedro, e pintando-a de vermelhão.

15 D ost thou reign, because thou art fretting thyself in cedar? Thy father -- did he not eat and drink? Yea, he did judgment and righteousness, Then well with him.

Acaso reinarás tu, porque procuras exceder no uso de cedro? O teu pai não comeu e bebeu, e não exercitou o juízo e a justiça? Por isso lhe sucedeu bem.

16 H e decided the cause of the poor and needy, Then well -- is it not to know Me? An affirmation of Jehovah.

Julgou a causa do pobre e necessitado; então lhe sucedeu bem. Porventura não é isso conhecer-me? diz o Senhor.

17 B ut thine eyes and thy heart are not, Except on thy dishonest gain, And on shedding of innocent blood, And on oppression, and on doing of violence.

Mas os teus olhos e o teu coração não atentam senão para a tua ganância, e para derramar sangue inocente, e para praticar a opressão e a violência.

18 T herefore, thus said Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: They do not lament for him, Ah, my brother, and Ah, sister, They do not lament for him, Ah, lord, and Ah, his honour.

Portanto assim diz o Senhor acerca de Jeoiaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá: Não o lamentarão, dizendo: Ai, meu irmão! ou: Ai, minha irmã! nem o lamentarão, dizendo: Ai, Senhor! ou: Ai, sua majestade!

19 T he burial of an ass -- he is buried, Dragged and cast out thence to the gates of Jerusalem.

Com a sepultura de jumento será sepultado, sendo arrastado e lançado fora das portas de Jerusalém.

20 G o up to Lebanon, and cry, And in Bashan give forth thy voice, And cry from Abarim, For destroyed have been all loving thee.

Sobe ao Líbano, e clama, e levanta a tua voz em Basã, e clama desde Abarim; porque são destruídos todos os teus namorados.

21 I have spoken unto thee in thine ease, Thou hast said, `I do not hearken,' This thy way from thy youth, For thou hast not hearkened to My voice.

Falei contigo no tempo da tua prosperidade; mas tu disseste: Não escutarei. Este tem sido o teu caminho, desde a tua mocidade, o não obedeceres ã minha voz.

22 A ll thy friends consume doth wind, And thy lovers into captivity do go, Surely then thou art ashamed, And hast blushed for all thy wickedness.

O vento apascentará todos os teus pastores, e os teus namorados irão para o cativeiro; certamente então te confundirás,

23 O dweller in Lebanon, making a nest among cedars, How gracious hast thou been when pangs come to thee, Pain -- as of a travailing woman.

e tu, que habitas no Líbano, aninhada nos cedros, como hás de gemer, quando te vierem as dores, os ais como da que está de parto!

24 I live -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Though Coniah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah Were a seal on My right hand, Surely thence I draw thee away,

Vivo eu, diz o Senhor, ainda que Conias, filho de Jeoiaquim, rei de Judá, fosse o anel do selo da minha mão direita, contudo eu dali te arrancaria;

25 A nd I have given thee into the hand of those seeking thy life, And into hands of which thou art afraid, Into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of the Chaldeans.

e te entregaria na mão dos que procuram tirar-te a vida, e na mão daqueles diante dos quais tu temes, a saber, na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, e na mão dos caldeus.

26 A nd I have cast thee, And thy mother who bore thee, unto another country, Where ye were not born, and there do ye die.

A ti e a tua mãe, que te deu ã luz, lançar-vos-ei para uma terra estranha, em que não nascestes, e ali morrereis.

27 A nd to the land whither they are lifting up their soul to return, Thither they do not return.

Mas ã terra para a qual eles almejam voltar, para lá não voltarão.

28 A grief -- a despised broken thing -- is this man Coniah? A vessel in which there is no pleasure? Wherefore have they been cast up and down, He and his seed, Yea, they were cast on to a land that they knew not?

E este homem Conias algum vaso desprezado e quebrado, um vaso de que ninguém se agrada? Por que razão foram ele e a sua linhagem arremessados e arrojados para uma terra que não conhecem?

29 E arth, earth, earth, hear a word of Jehovah,

ç terra, terra, terra; ouve a palavra do Senhor.

30 T hus said Jehovah: Write ye this man childless, A man -- he doth not prosper in his days, For none of his seed doth prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling again in Judah!

Assim diz o Senhor: Escrevei que este homem fica sem filhos, homem que não prosperará nos seus dias; pois nenhum da sua linhagem prosperará para assentar-se sobre o trono de Davi e reinar daqui em diante em Judá.
