1 T he word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

A palavra que do Senhor veio a Jeremias, dizendo:

2 ` Thus spake Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Write for thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee on a book.

Assim diz o Senhor, Deus de Israel: Escreve num livro todas as palavras que te falei;

3 F or, lo, days are coming -- an affirmation of Jehovah -- and I have turned back the captivity of My people Israel and Judah, said Jehovah, and I have caused them to turn back unto the land that I gave to their fathers, and they do possess it.'

pois eis que vêm os dias, diz o Senhor, em que farei voltar do cativeiro o meu povo Israel e Judá, diz o Senhor; e tornarei a trazê-los ã terra que dei a seus pais, e a possuirão.

4 A nd these the words that Jehovah hath spoken concerning Israel and concerning Judah:

E estas são as palavras que disse o Senhor, acerca de Israel e de Judá.

5 S urely thus said Jehovah: A voice of trembling we have heard, Fear -- and there is no peace.

Assim, pois, diz o Senhor: Ouvimos uma voz de tremor, de temor mas não de paz.

6 A sk, I pray you, and see, is a male bringing forth? Wherefore have I seen every man, His hands on his loins, as a travailing woman, And all faces have been turned to paleness?

Perguntai, pois, e vede, se um homem pode dar ã luz. Por que, pois, vejo a cada homem com as mãos sobre os lombos como a que está de parto? Por que empalideceram todos os rostos?

7 W o! for great that day, without any like it, Yea, a time of adversity it to Jacob, Yet out of it he is saved.

Ah! porque aquele dia é tão grande, que não houve outro semelhante! É tempo de angústia para Jacó; todavia, há de ser livre dela.

8 A nd it hath come to pass, in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, I break his yoke from off thy neck, And thy bands I draw away, And lay no more service on him do strangers.

E será naquele dia, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, que eu quebrarei o jugo de sobre o seu pescoço, e romperei as suas brochas. Nunca mais se servirão dele os estrangeiros;

9 A nd they have served Jehovah their God, And David their king whom I raise up to them.

mas ele servirá ao Senhor, seu Deus, como também a Davi, seu rei, que lhe levantarei.

10 A nd thou, be not afraid, My servant Jacob, An affirmation of Jehovah, Nor be affrighted, O Israel, For, lo, I am saving thee from afar, And thy seed from the land of their captivity, And Jacob hath turned back and rested, And is quiet, and there is none troubling.

Não temas pois tu, servo meu, Jacó, diz o Senhor, nem te espantes, ó Israel; pois eis que te livrarei de terras longinquas, se ã tua descendência da terra do seu cativeiro; e Jacó voltará, e ficará tranqüilo e sossegado, e não haverá quem o atemorize.

11 F or with thee I, An affirmation of Jehovah -- to save thee, For I make an end of all the nations Whither I have scattered thee, Only, of thee I do not make an end, And I have chastised thee in judgment, And do not entirely acquit thee.

Porque eu sou contigo, diz o Senhor, para te salvar; porquanto darei fim cabal a todas as nações entre as quais te espalhei; a ti, porém, não darei fim, mas castigar-te-ei com medida justa, e de maneira alguma te terei por inocente.

12 F or thus said Jehovah: Incurable is thy breach, grievous thy stroke,

Porque assim diz o Senhor: Incurável é a tua fratura, e gravíssima a tua ferida.

13 T here is none judging thy cause to bind up, Healing medicines there are none for thee.

Não há quem defenda a tua causa; para a tua ferida não há remédio nem cura.

14 a ll loving thee have forgotten thee, Thee they do not seek, For with the stroke of an enemy I smote thee, The chastisement of a fierce one, Because of the abundance of thy iniquity, Mighty have been thy sins!

Todos os teus amantes se esqueceram de ti; não te procuram; pois te feri com ferida de inimigo, e com castigo de quem é cruel, porque é grande a tua culpa, e têm-se multiplicado os teus pecados.

15 W hat! -- thou criest concerning thy breach! Incurable thy pain, Because of the abundance of thy iniquity, Mighty have been thy sins! I have done these to thee.

Por que gritas por causa da tua fratura? tua dor é incurável. Por ser grande a tua culpa, e por se terem multiplicado os teus pecados, é que te fiz estas coisas.

16 T herefore all consuming thee are consumed, And all thine adversaries -- all of them -- Into captivity do go, And thy spoilers have been for a spoil, And all thy plunderers I give up to plunder.

Portanto todos os que te devoram serão devorados, e todos os teus adversários irão, todos eles, para o cativeiro; e os que te roubam serão roubados, e a todos os que te saqueiam entregarei ao saque.

17 F or I increase health to thee, And from thy strokes I do heal thee, An affirmation of Jehovah, For `Outcast' they have called to thee, `Zion it, there is none seeking for her.'

Pois te restaurarei a saúde e te sararei as feridas, diz o Senhor; porque te chamaram a repudiada, dizendo: É Sião, ã qual já ninguém procura.

18 T hus said Jehovah: Lo, I turn back the captivity of the tents of Jacob, And his dwelling places I pity, And the city hath been built on its heap, And the palace according to its ordinance remaineth.

Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que acabarei o cativeiro das tendas de Jacó, e apiedarme-ei das suas moradas; e a cidade será reedificada sobre o seu montão, e o palácio permanecerá como habitualmente.

19 A nd gone forth from them hath thanksgiving, And the voice of playful ones, And I have multiplied them and they are not few, And made them honourable, and they are not small.

E sairá deles ação de graças e a voz dos que se alegram; e multiplicá-los-ei, e não serão diminuídos; glorificá-los-ei, e não serão apoucados.

20 A nd his sons have been as aforetime, And his company before Me is established, And I have seen after all his oppressors.

E seus filhos serão como na antigüidade, e a sua congregação será estabelecida diante de mim, e castigarei todos os seus opressores.

21 A nd his honourable one hath been of himself, And his ruler from his midst goeth forth, And I have caused him to draw near, And he hath drawn nigh unto Me, For who he who hath pledged his heart To draw nigh unto Me? An affirmation of Jehovah.

E o seu príncipe será deles, e o seu governador sairá do meio deles; e o farei aproximar, e ele se chegará a mim. Pois quem por si mesmo ousaria chegar-se a mim? diz o Senhor.

22 A nd ye have been to Me for a people, And I am to you for God.

E vós sereis o meu povo, e eu serei o vosso Deus.

23 L o, a whirlwind of Jehovah -- Fury hath gone forth -- a cutting whirlwind, On the head of the wicked it stayeth.

Eis a tempestade do Senhor! A sua indignação já saiu, uma tempestade varredora; cairá cruelmente sobre a cabeça dos impios.

24 T he fierceness of the anger of Jehovah Doth not turn back till His doing, Yea, till His establishing the devices of His heart, In the latter end of the days we consider it!

Não retrocederá o furor da ira do Senhor, até que ele tenha executado, e até que tenha cumprido os desígnios do seu coração. Nos últimos dias entendereis isso.
