1 A nd Jehoshaphat hath riches and honour in abundance, and joineth affinity to Ahab,

Tinha, pois, Jeosafá riquezas e glória em abundância, e aparentou-se com Acabe.

2 a nd goeth down at the end of years unto Ahab to Samaria, and Ahab sacrificeth for him sheep and oxen in abundance, and for the people who with him, and persuadeth him to go up unto Ramoth-Gilead.

Ao cabo de alguns anos foi ter com Acabe em Samária. E Acabe matou ovelhas e bois em abundância, para ele e para o povo que o acompanhava; e o persuadiu a subir com ele a Ramote-Gileade.

3 A nd Ahab king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, `Dost thou go with me Ramoth-Gilead?' And he saith to him, `As I -- so thou, and as thy people -- my people, even with thee in battle.'

Perguntou Acabe, rei de Israel, a Jeosafá, rei de Judá: Irás tu comigo a Ramote-Gileade? E respondeu-lhe Jeosafá: Como tu és sou eu, e o meu povo como o teu povo; seremos contigo na guerra.

4 A nd Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, `Seek, I pray thee, this day, the word of Jehovah.'

Disse mais Jeosafá ao rei de Israel: Consulta hoje a palavra do Senhor.

5 A nd the king of Israel gathereth the prophets, four hundred men, and saith unto them, `Do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?' And they say, `Go up, and God doth give into the hand of the king.'

Então o rei de Israel ajuntou os profetas, quatrocentos homens, e lhes perguntou: Iremos ã peleja contra Ramote-Gileade, ou deixarei de ir? Responderam eles: Sobe, porque Deus a entregará nas mãos do rei.

6 A nd Jehoshaphat saith, `Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah still, and we seek from him?'

Disse, porém, Jeosafá: Não há aqui ainda algum profeta do Senhor a quem possamos consultar?

7 A nd the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Still -- one man to seek Jehovah from him, and I -- I have hated him, for he is not prophesying concerning me of good, but all his days of evil, he Micaiah son of Imlah;' and Jehoshaphat saith, `Let not the king say so.'

Ao que o rei de Israel respondeu a Jeosafá: Ainda há um homem por quem podemos consultar ao Senhor; eu, porém, o odeio, porque nunca profetiza o bem a meu respeito, mas sempre o mal; é Micaías, filho de Inlá. Mas Jeosafá disse: Não fale o rei assim.

8 A nd the king of Israel calleth unto a certain officer, and saith, `Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.'

Então o rei de Israel chamou um eunuco, e disse: Traze aqui depressa Micaías, filho de Inlá.

9 A nd the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah are sitting, each on his throne, clothed with garments, and they are sitting in a threshing-floor at the opening of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets are prophesying before them.

Ora, o rei de Israel e Jeosafá, rei de Judá, vestidos de seus trajes reais, estavam assentados cada um no seu trono, na praça ã entrada da porta de Samária; e todos os profetas profetizavam diante deles.

10 A nd Zedekiah son of Chenaanah maketh for himself horns of iron, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah,

E Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, fez para si uns chifres de ferro, e disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Com estes ferirás os sírios, até que sejam consumidos.

11 W ith these thou dost push Aram till thou hast consumed them.' And all the prophets are prophesying so, saying, `Go up Ramath-Gilead and prosper, and Jehovah hath given into the hand of the king.'

E todos os profetas profetizavam o mesmo, dizendo: Sobe a Ramote-Gileade, e serás bem sucedido, pois o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei.

12 A nd the messenger who hath gone to call for Micaiah hath spoken unto him, saying, `Lo, the words of the prophets -- one mouth -- good towards the king, and let, I pray thee, thy word be like one of theirs: and thou hast spoken good.'

O mensageiro que fora chamar Micaías lhe falou, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas, a uma voz, são favoráveis ao rei: seja, pois, também a tua palavra como a de um deles, e fala o que é bom.

13 A nd Micaiah saith `Jehovah liveth, surely that which my God saith, it I speak.'

Micaías, porém, disse: Vive o Senhor, que o que meu Deus me disser, isso falarei.

14 A nd he cometh in unto the king, and the king saith unto him, `Micaiah, do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?' And he saith, `Go ye up, and prosper, and they are given into your hand.'

Quando ele chegou ã presença do rei, este lhe disse: Micaías, iremos a Ramote-Gileade ã peleja, ou deixarei de ir? Respondeu ele: Subi, e sereis bem sucedidos; e eles serão entregues nas vossas mãos.

15 A nd the king saith unto him, `How many times am I adjuring thee, that thou speak unto me only truth in the name of Jehovah?'

Mas o rei lhe disse: Quantas vezes hei de conjurar-te que não me fales senão a verdade em nome do Senhor?

16 A nd he saith, `I have seen all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd, and Jehovah saith, There are no masters to these, they turn back each to his house in peace.'

Respondeu ele: Vi todo o Israel disperso pelos montes, como ovelhas que não têm pastor; e disse o Senhor: Estes não têm senhor; torne em paz cada um para sua casa.

17 A nd the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Did I not say unto thee, He doth not prophesy concerning me good, but rather of evil?'

Então o rei de Israel disse a Jeosafá: Não te disse eu que ele não profetizaria a respeito de mim o bem, porém o mal?

18 A nd he saith, `Therefore, hear ye a word of Jehovah: I have seen Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing on His right and His left;

Prosseguiu Micaías: Ouvi, pois, a palavra do Senhor! Vi o Senhor assentado no seu trono, e todo o exército celestial em pé ã sua direita e ã sua esquerda.

19 a nd Jehovah saith, Who doth entice Ahab king of Israel, and he doth go up and fall in Ramoth-Gilead? And this speaker saith thus, and that speaker thus.

E o Senhor perguntou: Quem induzirá Acabe, rei de Israel, a subir, para que caia em Ramote-Gileade? E um respondia de um modo, e outro de outro.

20 A nd go out doth the spirit, and stand before Jehovah, and saith, I do entice him; and Jehovah saith unto him, With what?

Então saiu um espírito, apresentou-se diante do Senhor, e disse: Eu o induzirei. Perguntou-lhe o Senhor: De que modo?

21 a nd he saith, I go out, and have become a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets. And He saith, Thou dost entice, and also, thou art able; go out and do so.

E ele disse: Eu sairei, e serei um espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os seus profetas. Ao que disse o Senhor. Tu o induzirás, e prevalecerás; sai, e faze assim.

22 A nd, now, lo, Jehovah hath put a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of these thy prophets, and Jehovah hath spoken concerning thee -- evil.'

Agora, pois, eis que o Senhor pôs um espírito mentiroso na boca destes teus profetas; o Senhor é quem falou o mal a respeito de ti.

23 A nd Zedekiah son of Chenaanah cometh nigh, and smiteth Micaiah on the cheek, and saith, `Where this -- the way the Spirit of Jehovah passed over from me to speak with thee?'

Então Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, chegando-se, feriu a Micaías na face e disse: Por que caminho passou de mim o Espírito do Senhor para falar a ti?

24 A nd Micaiah saith, `Lo, thou dost see in that day, that thou dost enter into the innermost chamber to be hidden.'

Respondeu Micaías: Eis que tu o verás naquele dia, quando entrares numa câmara interior para te esconderes.

25 A nd the king of Israel saith, `Take ye Micaiah, and turn him back unto Amon head of the city, and unto Joash son of the king,

Então disse o rei de Israel: Tomai Micaías, e tornai a levá-lo a Amom, o govenador da cidade, e a Joás, filho do rei,

26 a nd ye have said, Thus said the king, Put ye this in the house of restraint, and cause him to eat bread of oppression, and water of oppression, till my return in peace.'

dizendo-lhes: Assim diz o rei: Metei este homem no cárcere, e sustentai-o a pão e água até que eu volte em paz.

27 A nd Micaiah saith, `If thou dost certainly return in peace, Jehovah hath not spoken by me;' and he saith, `Hear ye, O peoples, all of them!'

Mas disse Micaías: se tu voltares em paz, o Senhor não tem falado por mim. Disse mais: Ouvi, povos todos!

28 A nd the king of Israel goeth up, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, unto Ramoth-Gilead;

Subiram, pois, o rei de Israel e Jeosafá, rei de Judá, a Ramote-Gileade.

29 a nd the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat to disguise himself, and to go into battle, `And thou, put on thy garments.' And the king of Israel disguiseth himself, and they go into battle.

E disse o rei de Israel a Jeosafá: Eu me disfarçarei, e entrarei na peleja; tu, porém, veste os teus trajes reais. Disfarçou- se, pois, o rei de Israel, e eles entraram na peleja.

30 A nd the king of Aram hath commanded the heads of the charioteers whom he hath, saying, `Ye do not fight with small or with great, except with the king of Israel by himself.'

Ora, o rei da Síria dera ordens aos capitães dos seus carros, dizendo: Não pelejareis nem contra pequeno nem contra grande, senão só contra o rei de Israel.

31 A nd it cometh to pass at the heads of the charioteers seeing Jehoshaphat, that they have said, `The king of Israel he is,' and they turn round against him to fight, and Jehoshaphat crieth out, and Jehovah hath helped him, and God enticeth them from him,

Pelo que os capitães dos carros, quando viram a Jeosafá, disseram: Este é o rei de Israel. Viraram-se, pois, para pelejar contra ele; mas Jeosafá clamou, e o Senhor o socorreu, e os desviou dele.

32 y ea, it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing that it hath not been the king of Israel -- they turn back from after him.

Pois vendo os capitães dos carros que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de segui-lo.

33 A nd a man hath drawn with a bow, in his simplicity, and smiteth the king of Israel between the joinings and the coat of mail, and he saith to the charioteer, `Turn thy hand, and thou hast brought me out of the camp, for I have become sick.'

Então um homem entesou e seu arco e, atirando a esmo, feriu o rei de Israel por entre a couraça e a armadura abdominal. Pelo que ele disse ao carreteiro: Dá volta, e tira-me do exército, porque estou gravemente ferido.

34 A nd the battle increaseth on that day, and the king of Israel hath been stayed up in the chariot over-against Aram till the evening, and he dieth at the time of the going in of the sun.

E a peleja tornou-se renhida naquele dia; contudo o rei de Israel foi sustentado no carro contra os sírios até a tarde; porém ao pôr do sol morreu.
