1 ` When one is found slain on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee to possess it -- fallen in a field -- it is not known who hath smitten him,

Se na terra que o Senhor teu Deus te dá para a possuíres, for encontrado algum morto caído no campo, sem que se saiba quem o matou,

2 t hen have thine elders and thy judges gone out and measured unto the cities which round about the slain one,

sairão os teus anciãos e os teus juízes, e medirão as distâncias dali até as cidades que estiverem em redor do morto;

3 a nd it hath been, the city which near unto the slain one, even the elders of that city have taken a heifer of the herd, which hath not been wrought with, which hath not drawn in the yoke,

e será que, na cidade mais próxima do morto, os anciãos da mesma tomarão uma novilha da manada, que ainda não tenha trabalhado nem tenha puxado na canga,

4 a nd the elders of that city have brought down the heifer unto a hard valley, which is not tilled nor sown, and have beheaded there the heifer in the valley.

trarão a novilha a um vale de águas correntes, que nunca tenha sido lavrado nem semeado, e ali, naquele vale, quebrarão o pescoço ã novilha.

5 ` And the priests, sons of Levi, have come nigh -- for on them hath Jehovah thy God fixed to serve Him, and to bless in the name of Jehovah, and by their mouth is every strife, and every stroke --

Então se achegarão os sacerdotes, filhos de Levi; pois o Senhor teu Deus os escolheu para o servirem, e para abençoarem em nome do Senhor; e segundo a sua sentença se determinará toda demanda e todo ferimento;

6 a nd all the elders of that city, who are near unto the slain one, do wash their hands over the heifer which is beheaded in the valley,

e todos os anciãos da mesma cidade, a mais próxima do morto, lavarão as mãos sobre a novilha cujo pescoço foi quebrado no vale,

7 a nd they have answered and said, Our hands have not shed this blood, and our eyes have not seen --

e, protestando, dirão: As nossas mãos não derramaram este sangue, nem os nossos olhos o viram.

8 r eceive atonement for Thy people Israel, whom Thou hast ransomed, O Jehovah, and suffer not innocent blood in the midst of Thy people Israel; and the blood hath been pardoned to them,

Perdoa, ó Senhor, ao teu povo Israel, que tu resgataste, e não ponhas o sangue inocente no meio de teu povo Israel. E aquele sangue lhe será perdoado.

9 a nd thou dost put away the innocent blood out of thy midst, for thou dost that which right in the eyes of Jehovah.

Assim tirarás do meio de ti o sangue inocente, quando fizeres o que é reto aos olhos do Senhor.

10 ` When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and Jehovah thy God hath given them into thy hand, and thou hast taken captive its captivity,

Quando saíres ã peleja contra os teus inimigos, e o Senhor teu Deus os entregar nas tuas mãos, e os levares cativos,

11 a nd hast seen in the captivity a woman of fair form, and hast delighted in her, and hast taken to thee for a wife,

se vires entre os cativas uma mulher formosa ã vista e, afeiçoando-te a ela, quiseres tomá-la por mulher,

12 t hen thou hast brought her in unto the midst of thy household, and she hath shaved her head, and prepared her nails,

então a trarás para a tua casa; e ela, tendo rapado a cabeça, cortado as unhas,

13 a nd turned aside the raiment of her captivity from off her, and hath dwelt in thy house, and bewailed her father and her mother a month of days, and afterwards thou dost go in unto her and hast married her, and she hath been to thee for a wife:

e despido as vestes do seu cativeiro, ficará na tua casa, e chorará a seu pai e a sua mãe um mes inteiro; depois disso estarás com ela, e serás seu marido e ela será tua mulher.

14 ` And it hath been -- if thou hast not delighted in her, that thou hast sent her away at her desire, and thou dost not at all sell her for money; thou dost not tyrannize over her, because that thou hast humbled her.

E, se te enfadares dela, deixá-la-ás ir ã sua vontade; mas de modo nenhum a venderás por dinheiro, nem a tratarás como escrava, porque a humilhaste.

15 ` When a man hath two wives, the one loved and the other hated, and they have borne to him sons (the loved one and the hated one), and the first-born son hath been to the hated one;

Se um homem tiver duas mulheres, uma a quem ama e outra a quem despreza, e ambas lhe tiverem dado filhos, e o filho primogênito for da desprezada,

16 t hen it hath been, in the day of his causing his sons to inherit that which he hath, he is not able to declare first-born the son of the loved one, in the face of the son of the hated one -- the first-born.

quando fizer herdar a seus filhos o que tiver, não poderá dar a primogenitura ao filho da amada, preferindo-o ao filha da desprezada, que é o primogênito;

17 B ut the first-born, son of the hated one, he doth acknowledge, to give to him a double portion of all that is found with him, for he the beginning of his strength; to him the right of the first-born.

mas ao filho da aborrecida reconhecerá por primogênito, dando-lhe dobrada porção de tudo quanto tiver, porquanto ele é as primícias da sua força; o direito da primogenitura é dele.

18 ` When a man hath a son apostatizing and rebellious -- he is not hearkening to the voice of his father, and to the voice of his mother, and they have chastised him, and he doth not hearken unto them --

Se alguém tiver um filho contumaz e rebelde, que não obedeça ã voz de seu pai e ã voz de sua mãe, e que, embora o castiguem, não lhes dê ouvidos,

19 t hen laid hold on him have his father and his mother, and they have brought him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place,

seu pai e sua mãe, pegando nele, o levarão aos anciãos da sua cidade, e ã porta do seu lugar;

20 a nd have said unto the elders of his city, Our son -- this one -- is apostatizing and rebellious; he is not hearkening to our voice -- a glutton and drunkard;

e dirão aos anciãos da cidade: Este nosso filho é contumaz e rebelde; não dá ouvidos ã nossa voz; é comilão e beberrão.

21 a nd all the men of his city have stoned him with stones, and he hath died, and thou hast put away the evil out of thy midst, and all Israel do hear and fear.

Então todos os homens da sua cidade o apedrejarão, até que morra; assim exterminarás o mal do meio de ti; e todo o Israel, ouvindo isso, temerá.

22 ` And when there is in a man a sin -- a cause of death, and he hath been put to death, and thou hast hanged him on a tree,

Se um homem tiver cometido um pecado digno de morte, e for morto, e o tiveres pendurado num madeiro,

23 h is corpse doth not remain on the tree, for thou dost certainly bury him in that day -- for a thing lightly esteemed of God the hanged one -- and thou dost not defile thy ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- an inheritance.

o seu cadáver não permanecerá toda a noite no madeiro, mas certamente o enterrarás no mesmo dia; porquanto aquele que é pendurado é maldito de Deus. Assim não contaminarás a tua terra, que o Senhor teu Deus te dá em herança.
